Yea especially Pogba. He takes far too many touches and kills attacks. But the whole team was bad yesterday.
Pogba has that arrogance to believe that as long as he holds on to the ball, his ability will carry him through defenders. It mostly doesn’t.
Ironically it’s the quick release, like Greenwood’s first goal last week, which pays most dividends

Very interesting. Like Liverpool and City, once you win the ball back in the oppenents half, you try to attack with as few passes as possible.
I'd imagine McT-Fred with VdB-Bruno in that system with Rashford and Martial (assuming he's up for the pressing) ahead of it would be a nightmare to play against.

Do you actually watch Martial play?

Rashford is the one that should be questioned....

I just love the guy and the way his teams play. Saints are my second team in the PL (went to uni in Soton) so follow them a lot and I'm just so impressed. He has transformed the club in the space of four transfer windows, a net spend of £26m and six permanent first-team signings.. he would undoubtedly improve our squad, particularly the likes of Fred and AWB whilst reinvigorating Shaw IMO.

I'm a Poch praiser and think he'll be our next manager, but Ralph would be an awesome second choice.

Maybe next season but I'm not sure he would leave them mid season. In fact I doubt any of Rose or Nagelsman too will leave midseason
Rose or Nagelsmann probably not due to playing at a higher level domestically and in Europe.

But Hassenhuttl I believe would come straight in because apart from keeping Southampton midtable there isn't much else to play for IMO.

100%. Same way Rodgers left Celtic the moment Leicester made an offer. And he was almost guaranteed trophies in that job.

I was very impressed by his Southampton when they played us. Win the ball back and two passes later get a shot on goal. That is exactly what Pool and City do.

I still think we will go with Poch though.

I've said that in the summer, we should have moved for him then and we still should, our board are incredibly incompetent, so I have little fight.

Please please get him. He would be a better option than Poch.

I honestly feel he’s be perfect. Would suit the club as he can work on a budget but his teams press so well. Once he has them organised he gets so much out of them - such a good coach.
Been at Southampton a few years so deep into a contract - might not be too expensive but would he be interested?

I thought there were decent performances from AWB, Shaw, VDB and even Tuanzebe, who was left one on one a couple of times, but Pogba was very poor yesterday. Do you think Hassenhuttl could get the best out of Pogba? I'm not sure Pogba would adhere to what any manager asked him to do.

I would cut ties with pogba if i was the new manager. He is a prima donna. He is our equivalent of Neymar where he plays for himself and not the team.

Hopefully the next manager will train us to attack as a unit like Nagglesman does and i think we will have to sarcrifice Pogba to achieve that.

The 4-2-2-2 he uses is literally perfect for us. Having Bruno and Pogba on starting sides of the pitch so we can actually have some balance, having McTominay Fred as the base 2 and Rashford and Martial uptop. We would need a right back though, if he were to come.
I think Williams become the right back we need

Oh god, yes!!! For whatever reason we are far too bad at doing this on a consistent basis. Watching us in the second half yesterday was the footballing equivalent of Clockwork Orange Eyeball-Torture in how slow and laborious we were in attempting to attack the opponent.
We became a possession based team with LVG. I am sure we can become whatever the coach wants us to be.

We have good players. One good thing about Ole is he has bought good in general. They are crying out to be taught to attack as a collective unit.

Look at Hansi Flick at Bayern. In the space of a month he was able to turn the Bayern players around, where they ended up destroying Barca.

You just need the correct coach to teach them to play as a unit and attack collectively.

Yh he's improved massively but compare him to Adams, for example, and he's got a way to go in that department. Flip side is he's a vastly better striker who I think could adapt to the style but he would press a lot more than he does now.

Would be the perfect fit for us. So naturally we won't even look at him
I like him, but I'm not sure any high pressing manager is a perfect fit for our current team. I actually do hope we go more in this sort of direction, but there's work to be done with a lot of senior players not ideal for this type of football.

I think the current squad would have enough adaptable and young, hungry players to do well even without more signings. Maguire needs to sort his head out and is still a very good although limited CB and AWB is still so young, he needs proper coaching. Matic, Mata, Pogba, Cavani would all be moved - dare I day it Lingard would probably suit this system pretty well

Agreed! The fault with OGS is that he didn't get the right coaching around this team. To have 2 novice and 1 dinosaur has failed him.

As a manager you need to have world class coaches with you or got to be world class coach yourself.

This is why the next person in charge has to be a coach, I don't care if its Pochetino, Nagelsman or whoever but they gotta be a coach. We have the players but they don't know what they're doing.

I don't follow Southampton that closely but isn't what he's doing there similar to what Poch did?

It's sort of baffling people would prefer him when he hasn't proven anything spectacular that many managers haven't already done with mid-table teams e.g Rodgers/Landrup at Swansea, Martinez at Everton, Koeman at Southampton, Dyche at Burnley, Howe at Bournemouth, Hogdon/Hughes at Fulham etc.

It's not that I think he is average or comparing him to the above but it's a giant leap of faith to expect him to come in and turn us around i.e a much bigger one than Poch, who has proven big club, PL and CL title challenging experience. Basically it's a step too far imo as Utd is a completely different juggernaut.

Happy to be proven wrong of course but it just doesn't make 'logical' sense.

He did finish second in the Bundesliga with Leipzig. Not quite comparable with Poch reaching the CL final, but not too different from Poch's PL work with Spurs.

There would surely be more noise regarding him if we were genuinely interested. Going by that matric (not fool proof of course), Pochettino is the one we are considering. I hope we don't ignore managers who will suit us we'll just because they aren't as obvious choices to us (other leagues, at small teams).

I don't know how much it would cost to get him, but Poch is a free-agent so I expect we'll go for him

Signed a 4 year contract in the summer!
I know contracts aren't worth the paper they're written on these day's but, he does seem to be happy here at the moment.
I don't even know if United would be the perfect fit for him. I don't know how United are run but, at Saints he dictates everything on the style of football we play from top to bottom, which is one thing he likes to do.
Anyway win tonight and we go top of the league. Who would have said that a year ago.
Obviously that won't happen because every time we are about to do something good we tend to muck it up!

I like this formation. Maybe a new CB as well. I would also cut ties with Pogba and bring in a new MF. Maybe two because Matic is getting old.

That’s fair enough - hadn’t noticed he’d recently signed a new contract. I think you’ve one of the most progressive managers in the league. I genuinely hope you guys make EL this season because you play good football they way I like to see it played.

I hope we move hard for him, this is a real opportunity now for us. Missed out on Klopp/Pep we can’t repeat the same mistake againz
