If you're Ole in, how much time will you give him?

What has Ole won ? See what happened to LVG and Jose despite their trophy records.

Quite laughable when ole-ins come up with trophy arguments when their favorite itself is petty shit in that aspect
Yeah exactly that Poch hasn't won anything argument only ever really stacks up if he was competing for the job against people who had already put some silverware on their CV

Ole has won two titles in Norway but that's not the point. We ended up with Ole by default because the club didn't plan anything. We all k ow he'd not have got the job but for being a legend. The club needed a pick me up after Jose and he's done better than they were expecting. Not amazing but decent.

I'll take the Poch that took a nothing Tottenham side to consistent four top 4 finishes in 5 seasons and a champions league final despite a limited transfer budget for most of those years. The Poch who built the club you see today, developed great players, made Tottenham a fast, modern, hard working side to be feared - their best manager in years. He's a manager I think is made for us.
Yeah so would I but our board thinks they know better and prefer to keep the happy go lucky work experience going as it saves them so much money and will continue to tug on the heartstrings of those romanticists in our fanbase

Our current manager has. But that's not the point. See my response above. We got Ole through default we all know that.

Oh come on, we both know norwegian titles aren't even worth mentioning. Point is, if we are waiting for a perfect manager, we will keep waiting.it just doesn't exist.

We just take that chance and go for it. (Just like we went for Ole )

You'd take Poch's 5 years of no trophies over us winning 3 cups? Why? What have they got to show for it?

I know we were pretty ropey in those years but it says a lot that we still won stuff and they didn't and he was supposed to be so much better than our managers at the time.

He's a good guy Poch. A gentleman. But he's a loser. Spurs have upgraded.

Poch won't be coming in during the season unless we fall apart. You might get your wish in summer and we will see how he does.

Not saying Poch. Infact I prefer Hassenhuttl or Rose above Poch. But we need a better option than Ole and that's the point.

I give him until he stops improving the team and the results over a full season. So I wouldn’t grumble if he is sacked at the end of this season if we finish with fewer points than last year. And the same would apply at the end of next season if he’s still here.

Eventually he has to win the Prem and as soon as the end of season points total shows he is not getting closer to that, he can have no complaints if we bid him farewell.

I’d give him until the summer. If he can’t get us CL football then I think we have to part ways.

Yeah he probably wouldn't be my first choice either but surely it's better than the current situation

Maybe we do. I don't think he's at sack worthy stage just yet. We are 2pts off 4th as things stand with a game in hand. That game if we won sends us joint 3rd with Chelsea behind them on GD only.

Ole still can turn this season into a good one. We badly need to sign a defender though in a few weeks.

5 years. This is how long a revamp should last. But the dead-weight we are dragging with us since forever is slowing this process down.
Things rarely go quicker than that. It can happen faster if the competition is not having their best season so you manage to snatch a league title with a team that is not yet fully polished but right now the competition is really good. Even Spurs have a competitive team, Chelsea has invested a lot in youth and Liverpool and City have ready made teams. Only Arsenal have dropped off, really.

He will get longer than that with our board wherever we finish
If he gets back to back top 4 finishes that would be the first time since Fergie days. It's not actual success as the Poch in brigade would have you believe but it would mean progress.

Where is that money for a CB coming from because can imagine we still won't sell Pogba in January, that is not including the CDM we also badly need as seen when Matic & McTominay got given the run round.

They’ve shown in the past that CL football is the thing their decision swings on. They couldn’t sack him in 2019 since he’d only been appointed 2 months earlier.

Your obsession with proving Poch isn't the right guy for us is a little bit weird.

If you don't want Poch because he's a trophy bottler, why do you want us to stick with Ole, who has been like that so far with us, actually ?

Logic says if you don't want Poch, you shouldn't want Ole either. Poch is everything Ole is and more, really.

It's probably because like many he buys into this the 99 hero returns to rescue the club from the doldrums story, scariest part of it all is that the board is deluded and believes in it as well

I imagine we will look for a stop gap unfashionable signing rather than Varane type signing which isn't realistic in these times or in January.

We need to do something. I'd personally give Axel a run now. How can he be any worse?

Your asking for logic from the guy who earlier today claimed Chelsea haven’t been consistent this season, despite them losing 1 in 18.

“Logic” aint his strong point.

Anyone slagging off Poch’s managerial record and claiming he’s a bottler, yet strongly backing Ole is a hypocrite of the highest order.

It just really doesn't make sense that's all. The main reason you'll be thinking Poch isn't good enough for United, can be applied to Ole too.

Ole wasn't my choice to be manager but we have him now and he did better than the initial role he was given to steady the ship.

Why did we end up with Ole? Because of the bigger problem at the club. Woodward.

Clearly talking about the league. Given we have game in hand and are 3pts behind them it's logic you arent strong on.

They had Rennes and Krasnador in their CL group. Europa League standard teams.

Sir Alex Ferguson needed 5 years and that was without pandemic. This entire thread seems to be a witch hunt for anyone supporting the manager even though we are going through a low period in Europe right now. We are not really the team to compete in 2 fronts seriously yet anyway, let's focus on the league. Getting kicked out in group stages or later on by someone like Barcelona and Juve makes little difference. The point is we need to stick with the project we have started.

Well, he wasn't the choice of anyone anyway. I doubt anyone even remembered he was still managing when we got him as a caretaker.

Poch will basically do everything you think Ole has done for us and probably more. If you don't want Poch to get the job because you think he's a trophy bottler and will never wins anything, you should ask for Ole to leave, because he has been exactly like that for us. You should be asking for a trophy hunter like Allegri or something.

Frankly I know SAF example was going to come. It's literally the only example you have of that "every rebuild requires 5 years" thing.

Why didn't we give Moyes 5 years then ?

I think I said I wanted Ancelotti or Allegri at the time tbf. Ole wasn't my choice but that's what we did and I went along with it.

He's done a decent job in tough circumstances and delivered 3rd in his only full season to date. That's why I think he deserves the season. But I have never once said he's 100% the answer just that he deserves his chance.

Wed change managers every 12 months if the muppets on here had their way. Same will happen to next guy.

They’ve lost 1 in the league, to the Champions. We’ve lost 3, to Palace, Arsenal (who currently sit 14th ) and got embarrassed 1-6 at home to fecking Spurs.
We’re inconsistent as feck, they are consistent.

Logic says you’ve been chatting absolute bollocks all day.

I hope people stop talking about changing managers as it's some sort of a thing that breaks teams. Madrid and Chelsea have been changing managers more than their players change their clothes. It's normal. Clubs part away with managers all the time, either because they're terrible, did well but stagnated and regressed, did well but there's an option that will offer better future, or did well but it's time for a tactical change. Every single big club around us changes managers every 2-3 years. Only at United we make it sound like a task harder than climbing Everest.

Points has nothing to do with consistency, bouncing around from horrific to sublime, to horrific and back is the opposite of that.

Consistency was the talking point here, not points total and possible imaginary points from unplayed games, do keep up.

Well changing managers often does matter as managers want their own teams and players. Players these days cost fortunes.

So yeah I'd say changing and sacking managers constantly isn't the best way.

Well F off then and support somebody else you miserable git. You've done nothing but cry all day.

We are a top 4 quality side right in the mix for top 4. We are where we probably deserve to be. Battling for 3rd to 5th place.

Should give Axel a proper run before Maguire & Lindelof cost us any crucial league points too, I would also be looking to agree a deal for Ramos for the summer because would provide so much experience to that back line

On the contrary we should have a definite set of players and team and hire managers just to coach them and deliver results. Fail and they get sack. The obsession of having a manager who's supposed to build his own team, bring his own players, and be the number one in the club is what bringing us down. No matter how we try Fergie was a freak in football and it's time to join the rest of other clubs around. All of them are just treating managers as employees whose only job is to coach the team to win and otherwise they're sacked.

Yeah that should be the strategy but unfortunately our board is utterly clueless when it comes to FOOTBALL matters and is clearly unwilling to accept a restructuring of that side of things because certain people would have to relinquish their power and just won't ever be willing to do that for the good of this club

Let's just get Poch or whoevermans or flowers because I don't think they would have started 7 defensive players vs Leipzig and sub 5 off including putting on Fosu Mensah and Tuanzebe who were doing weird stuff, leaving Shaw on but taking telles off at half time only to sub him for Williams :smirk:

Oh and then puts pogba on which made us look so weak to allow that. Without him explaining himself first... Poch please

This thread has been hijacked. I thought it was place for peaceful Ole sympathisers to post reasonable argument about how long we think he should be given in the job.

You may notice that we, the sympathisers, are not all charitable towards him and most of us will not go on a “save Ole march” if he gets sacked for not getting top 4.
