Gotta disagree on that one. I think the world is great so far. I’ve not seen a futuristic neon urban jungle done to this extent before, but maybe I’ve just not played the right games. I just hope it doesn’t start to feel shallow and samey. Too early to tell if it will yet.
Yep, that's the thing. It highly depends on the games you've played, but I've banged on about it enough in this thread what exact games I'm talking about. And those games all did it with way more individual style, this is as generic as it could be for this kind of game sadly, which I'm surprised about.

Hell, even Sleeping Dogs did neon city with more unique futuristic style.

The Witcher 3 was nowhere near this buggy on launch, I mean I'm only like 3 hours in and already encountered crazy bugs, it's actually quite disgraceful it was released in this state. I can only imagine how bad the console versions are.

It's incredibly unfinished and it's not just bugs, it's full of half realised ideas too.

Im playing on ps5 and the performance seems ok but it looks like shit, the PS4 and XBO version are a complete mess though. It looks like a ps3 game in parts.

My stepson bought my copy as a early Christmas gift so I’m gonna finish it but if I paid for it myself I’d be uninstalling it until the patch next year.

I think you’re being harsh on it there to be honest. Sleeping Dogs is a totally different vibe in my opinion. I think this has got an early Blade Runner style down very well. A blend of today and the future, before cities go full Blade Runner. The city has all sorts of nooks and crannies, which fits that vibe very well.

The only thing that would improve this is more interesting NPCs for me (and better graphics), but it’s not as bad as was made out before release.

How would you have done it differently?

Can’t wait to see console reviews. We will see who the shills are in the gaming media. No way any reputable gaming media reviewer can score this above 7 when it looks and plays like that.

I would be surprised if it scores over 5 if they playing on the base PS4.

I'm only a few hours in but it already feels like 90% of the extensive skill trees are going to be useless. So much of the item/looting/abilities systems seem half baked.

The world is amongst my favorite if not my favorite in any game so far. I haven’t properly picked up the story yet, hope it gets interesting soon. RPG elements are a bit too complex for me, I will probably end up not doing much of crafting or character building but I guess it’s possible to finish the game without that. Loving it so far.

I thought the first Deus Ex was ok but the second was completely bland, didn't play Syndicate and bounced off the first Riddick pretty hard and dont really see much of a comparison. I think this game has a much stronger artstyle than Deus Ex. I think thats one area they did well in.

17.6GB hotfix on PS4. Wonder if it’ll fix anything.

Anytime I drive into Chinatown, I get a brief freeze - it plays away again after a few seconds
I’ve been getting big freezes when driving. They last a bit longer than is comfortable, making me think it’s gonna crash, but it’s not done yet.

New hotfix to Cyberpunk 2077 is now live on PlayStation consoles and PC. For Xbox systems, we are working to have the update out as soon as possible. Here is the list of changes:

Quests
  • Fixed an issue with completing the final objective in Gig: Freedom of the Press.
  • Fixed an issue with starting conversation with Johnny at the end in Life During Wartime.
  • Corrected a rare issue with NPCs no longer calling V if A Like Supreme quest was abandoned mid-way.
  • Fixed an issue with Nix not going into his default state in Spellbound and KOLD MIRAGE.
  • Fixed issues blocking progress in I Fought The Law if the quest area is left.
  • Fixed inability to find Delamain in Epistrophy.
  • Fixed issues related to remaining in the second phase of the quest after finishing Pacifica fight with Ozob if played after Finals.
  • Fixed an issue with Nomads no longer present if V leaves the quest area mid-combat in With a Little Help from My Friends/Queen of the Highway.
  • Adjusted mappings and re-enabled quest tracker in M'ap Tann Pèlen/I Walk the Line/Transmission.
  • Fixed constraints on freedom to get up and sit down if neither blueline condition is met in Violence.
  • Fixed issues with time and space resulting from leaving the quest area or abandoning the quest in Following the River.
  • Fixed an issue with conversation with Johnny not starting after leaving the hotel in Tapeworm.
  • Fixed an issue with quest being blocked upon leaving the quest area before climbing the hill in Following the River.
  • Fixed the objective “Go into booth 9” not completing if the room’s entered too fast in Automatic Love.
  • Fixed Jackie’s issues with sitting still inThe Ripperdoc.
  • Other quest fixes

Gameplay
  • Fixed the preview in weapon crafting.

Visual
  • Reduced vehicle appearance pop-in.
  • Speeded up switching first person perspective to third person perspective in a vehicle.
  • Fixed issues with animations missing from important quest NPCs during cinematics.

Performance & Stability
  • Improved stability, including various crash fixes.

Miscellaneous
  • Modified the flashing effect on braindances to reduce the risk of inducing epileptic symptoms. The effect has been smoothed out and the flashes reduced in frequency and magnitude.
  • Removed copyrighted songs incorrectly present in the game with "Disable Copyrighted Music" feature toggled on.

PC-specific
  • Switching language to default in the in-game settings now correctly sets it to the language of your Steam client.

Console-specific
  • Improved reflections quality on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 to eliminate the smudge effect.
  • Fixed “The Wasteland” achievement being stuck on 97% after completing all relevant missions in The Badlands on Xbox.
  • Fixed an issue with missing PT-BR VO for Xbox players in Americas.

They’re right to prioritise Xbox One and PS4. It’s a mess at times on those consoles.

Feels weird to say but it could’ve done with another delay in release.

Does anyone else find decisions difficult in games like this? Because I know there’s a fixed outcome if I choose x over x, I hate thinking I’ll choose the shit one. Or it’ll be like rdr2 where I choose one thing for good reasons, but the game has other ideas and decides that was me being selfish.

Guess you have to choose a personality and go with whatever suits that best.

She wants me to feck Dex over for more money. It’s very tempting, but nomads are meant to be honest, so I’m thinking it’s not the right move...but I do want that money and I’ve only just met the guy. I’m already expecting the twist if I choose him to be him fecking me over. But that’s me back to overthinking it

I suppose this is the kinda thing that made Witcher so good though.

No crashes so far, but for whatever reasons I cannot scan the datapad of the Japanese guy. Can scan everything else in the room, but not the datapad (checked that it is active). So it looks like a bug. I hope that tomorrow in restart this is gonna work otherwise, cannot continue.

I had what I thought was this issue. You have to wait til near the end when he’s putting it in the drawer. Unless you have done

I can testify that the Freedom of the Press gig still doesn't work: it cannot be completed.

I know what you mean, but I think you're being a bit unfair as this is Cyberpunk. If you've read the William Gibson novels or played the role playing games (I've just done the former) it fits the world to a tee. Yeah, it's a well worn trope nowadays, but I think this game takes the vision and visually makes the Gibson novels into something you can play which is incredible.

They may have played into fans expectations, but considering the topic I'm not sure they could have taken any other course and the multi-level, neon city is done really well for me.

I waited till there. I paused the video, went there to scan, checked that it is active, but scanning is not working. Just to check that I haven’t gone mad, I tried to scan the pistol and that worked fine.

Yep.

I sat for ages on that decision but decided I'm playing the honest route on this playthrough. Now means I have to play again to see the alternative of course

This is the main thing for me. This game makes me feel like I'm in Neuromancer, like I'm Case, planning the big run with Molly.

This part they did nail. Shame about the technical quality.

Sadly I think the fixes to the PS4 and XBONE will come before any patch for the new generation of consoles.
I meant sadly for the new generation of console owner, I dont have one so I am not that bothered, I dont think they are going to get this game to look any better on Ps4 and Xbone as the engine itself looks poorly put together, they will simply try to make the game more stable.

I also thought for a long time it was bugged because I tried to scan it in the living room instead of the bedroom.
I am definitely in the bedroom. Just before the girl comes, where the guy is putting his datapad in the drawer.

It's over 30 years old but definitely worth a read. It's probably the biggest novel in the genre and there are definitely elements that influence the game and the whole cyberpunk theme.
