He's always been a prodigious talent. It's why he was I believe the most expensive young player ever at the time when we signed him from Southampton. He's taken longer to reach his potential than expected due to horrible luck with injuries and an awful manager (Mourinho).

I maintain that he's our best player. I think the only weakness he has is his one-footedness, but it's not even an issue due to the position he plays and the fact that his technique with his left foot is so damn good.
I’m not sure I’d go as far as saying our best player, but I’ve thought for a few years that we look at our most dangerous when he is on the pitch. The overlapping runs he makes into the box either put him in brilliant attacking positions or open up acres of space for the left winger. I think he links up very well with Rashford.

Then I read the match day threads and think I must be watching different games to some of the posters on here who seem to berate him constantly.

Did a full 180 on him, he's toughened up, really good on the ball and even his deliveries are improving.
I'm always on the fence about him but he played really really good today. He has toughened up. Just needs a bit more composure in the attacking half, and maybe run more on the outside of the RB a bit more consistently but if he keeps playing like this he is a boss no doubt.

I still think he can do more for us in the final third but you know what? It's not a big issue for now as he is so good in the other two-thirds of the pitch.

This season is the first time I've thought he's been consistently good since that purple patch in 2014 just before he broke his leg, so long may it continue.
His end product would look much better if Martial and Rashford starts getting back some form and start scoring goals again.

Yeah, I've always been a huge fan of him and think that the club really messed about with his development with his injuries and mismanagement by Jose.

When fit, he, Macguire, De Gea and Bruno are probably the only ones that are starters by merit and not because we've no better options.

Really enjoyed some of his overlapping runs today. Shame that they weren’t always seen by his teammates.

Awesome player, absolutely delighted with his form of late. He’s also starting to show a bit of passion, and looks more vocal which is great.

Putting in a lot of crosses now which is refreshing to see. He should continue doing it regardless of who we have uptop. That's how we'll develop this into our game.

I'm very happy to see Shaw getting the praise he deserves nowadays. For me, he had been it best left back for ages - it was especially clear at the tail end of last season when he was out how big a drop off in quality there is between him and Williams. With Shaw in the team, we might have been looking at another European trophy.

I've noticed more recently, other than the crossing, is he is much braver with his challenges; would he have gone in for that header when he clashed heads with Mee a couple of seasons ago? or that 'foul'? He's also getting involved in some proper shithousery (time wasting vs Villa, there was a point yesterday where he went after a Burnley player who'd gone in a bit hard on someone - Martial? - to win the ball back).

on one hand, I hope his recent improvement gets ignored by Southgate and he gets to rest during international periods. But it would also be good for him to get the recognition his hard work on the training pitch deserves.

He is having very good season, not sure if he has improved his game or starting to express more, it's good to see him play more crosses and adventurous in final third.

As usual he is always good in the build up play.

He had a really good run where he drove with the ball forward in the 1st half. He got tackled but still managed to pass it to Rashford who really should have got a shot on if not for his bad 1st touch.

He's doing really well. I like how he has ensured that he remains first choice in the face of competition from Telles. More of the same needed for AWB.

Surely with this form he has to be close to get a call from Southgate? He may will be behind Chilwell in the pecking order, but i don't think Southgate should overlook him for the Euros if he keeps up this form and stays healthy.

He has probably been our best defender this season. The amount of criticism he gets, doesn't get a look in the England team, he has shown over and over again he can be relied on.

He’s a class player. So much pace up and down. Really living up to his potential I think.

Best form post-injury. He looks fit, quick, attacking, defensively solid, and he wants to play for the club and the badge.

Ole seems to be working out how to manage each player. Gives him sufficient rest, and plenty of game time.

A year ago if you had told me Shaw is going to be our set piece taker, I would have laughed thinking we were going to Jones as Corner taker levels.
His delivery is fantastic.

Its crazy how that happens.

I dont know what it is, but previously when Shaw was showing any type of good form, you were waiting for the inevitable knock or injury. Hes been so consistent but so good too.
Hes taken the challenge put against him through the signing of Telles so well.

Credit to him too cos he looked good in the 3 at the back as well.

Definitely in the best form of his career, Shaw had some amazing performances this season. If he could release the ball a bit quicker sometimes, we don't have to worry about our left side.

Competition has done him some good, he is way more proactive than last season. He's turning into a good option in attack with loads of runs. Really happy for him, I've always thought that with proper motivation he can be a real solid player.

Why'd you worry about the left? Everyone in the team from Martial, Rashford and Pogba to Matic flocks there on every attack while Wan Bissaka is lost in the tumbleweeds on the other side until either Cavani or Bruno pities him and makes for an option.

game management is key with Shaw. He’s not like Maguire who can play every game (most aren’t clearly, but you see My point). Telles allows Shaw to have a rest. Enough games for each, and long may it continue.

I don't get how people are praising him. His positioning is absolutely shocking and is at fault for nearly all goals conceded. He jogs back, has one assist in the league and is awful at one one ones.

You won't win a Premier league with Shaw in your team.

I wonder how much the signing of Telles helped him mentally? He seems a different animal now, really winning me over

I don't know really, many posters like myself have been shouting from the roof tops how good he is for at least a couple of years now. He won player of the season the one before last and our football went to shit after his injury last season. Admittedly his delivery has been better this season but that's the only improvement I've noted.

How exactly, 1 assist in the league, constantly caught out of posistion, no assits last season.

He is a shocking player at both attacking and defending.

This isn't a windup either, He is a major weak link in the team.

How is he one of our best players??? 0 assists last season in league and 1 this season.

All you can come up with is to find a new hobby?

Out of the starting 11 I see him as a weak link along with the right wing posistion. Greenwood will be world class but is not at the moment.

Did you watch the city match?

One assist in the league this season and none last season and his delivery is better. I find that funny.

He is constantly caught out of posistion and afraid to tackle inside the box.

He constantly passes the ball back even with options in front of him and slows down play.

I think you need a new hobby. I would take a look back at our final two games of the champions league and see how badly Shaw was at fault for the goals or have you forgotten this?

Also the City game in the league cup he was absoloutky shocking

That's not really the point though is it? He has a good eason but attacking wise his numbers aren't remotely good enough
He’s at or around the top of the league in nearly every attacking metric for fullbacks. Dribbles, chances created, xA. Passing through the lines for all positions he was 4th in the entire league. There is far more to attack than just assists.

I'd almost find your posts funny if they weren't so tragically boring. Same old cliches dragged out by another internet know nothing. As others have shared, he's currently performing at just about the highest level out of any full back in the league, not only with the eye test (most important) but with stats as well. The fact that you're only talking about assists (and bizarrely positioning, even though that's one of his strongest assets) really tells us all we need to know about your opinion, simplistic and worthless.
