Maybe he’s just playing well because a football player will always prefer to play well than badly?
I don't rule it out. I know you manage team Pogba FC, so I doubt we see things quite the same. But as long as he's performing this well, there's no complaints. Long may it continue.

I don’t think people realize that the goal isn’t what made his performance so good. He’s shown increased awareness off the ball defensively along with much cleaner tackling, and it basically makes him a complete midfielder as opposed to a giant Pirlo or someone that has to have others constantly covering for them.

Pogba has been outstanding lately, and thank feck since Bruno has dipped a bit.

That goal was world class, the first touch and bang was top quality.

You guys still running around with this "building a team around" nonsense?

You're supposed to build a strong team period. Not around any particular players. Most elite teams have quality all around thus they better sustain their form when core players are injured or out of form. "Building team around" is such an archaic concept, that I feel it only ever gets used to make it seems as though one is saying something substantial when really they're just waffling.
It seems so difficult for some fans to just give him a compliment without caveating it in some way. He’s judged to an incredibly harsh standard but I guess that has something to do with his talent level and the expectations as a result of that.

He already had more than that this season, the number of his bad games are always exaggerated to a ridiculous level.
Exactly. People on here speak as if he plays badly 30 times a season with about 5 good games. Which is not true at all.

Hope the early dip in fitness was COVID related and he’s found his fitness now. He’s been a match winner last few games.

You don’t ‘rule out’ that he may just be trying to play well because he’s a professional footballer? How noble of you.

Maybe I should have invested in a smiley at the end there so you'd understand the sentiment.

I thought he took a while to get going in terms of his passing but his work rate was top drawer and the goal was just absolutely ridiculous. He’s a joy to watch when he’s in the mood like this.

Careful, I was almost killed for questioning bruno's form. Looks like Pogba is the flavour of the month now, I'm even hearing unironic suggests of a new contract..

I'm one of his biggest critics on here but he's been excellent recently and now actually looks fit to play for 90mins also.
That ball roll followed by perfect long pass while under pressure was majestic.

It seems like this is the first time he’s been fully fit for a long time. Ole has managed him really well looking from the outside. Took him out of the limelight and let him get his fitness right, and is now making him a key part of the first 11.

Fantastic at the moment- let’s hope he keeps it going because a Pogba in top form gives us a different dimension to our play

yeah like that poster would buy another two Brunos to play with Bruno....but we aren’t building a team around him either

If he’s going in the summer let’s hope it’s after leading us to a title. Because if we are to do it, he’ll be crucial.

Him stopping his run, not tracking his man for the first goal is inexcusable, right up until you score a goal like that. Incredible. Both him and AWB redeemed themselves. Great game.

Not interested in playing for 6th place or even “the shirt” in an average team but now we’re up top he’s found his motivation. Needs to be competing at the top, unlike Bruno who’s dragged us there.

Rio summarised the goal quite well in the studio. Pogba was pointing to Bailly to cover Lookman but Bailly was completely switched off and did not cover the space. It's not something I noticed at the time, but the goal was primarily on Bailly.

This is the Pogba you paid 100m for. He's unplayable on his day. These are the kind of players that you try to accommodate, and not necessarily build the whole team around him, but you tailor the team to accentuate his strengths.
Yeah that goal was worth the 150 mill alone but then you factor in the work rate too and you can see why we paid 200 mill for him

There’s no way Pogba should be chasing him

On top of the goal, I really liked when he put a fabulous cross from the right. Deserved an assist from that but Bruno was offside so wouldn't have counted anyways

Because Pogba has had nothing to do with us being top?

Perhaps the issue was finally realising that he shouldn’t ‘drag’ us to the top - we should build a strong team to get there, like adding Bruno to Pogba in the first place!

Big Mike has alternate vision whenever Pogba is in sight. Forgive him.

Really? Because he pointed to Bailly, he didn't shout or anything? I mean, at first I thought Bailly should have covered the space due to his speed but we played a high line and Pogba moved with him into a defensive position, which means he should stop at the line so I get it, but he stopped after the ball was played which is what I had a problem with. Doesn't matter if he pointed at anyone at the time, I don't think.

It’s more of a communication thing though. Maguire steps up, Lookman fills the gap between him and Bailly, and Pogba leaves him for Bailly. All three have to communicate better in that sense

This Paul Pogba is undoubtedly world class. His discipline, work rate and quality were unquestionable again today. Came clutch at Burnley, now at Fulham. Long may it continue. I have stuck the boot into Paul on numerous occasions. Happy for him to make me eat my words all the way to the end of May!

Perhaps ...but this is the Pogba thread
Appropriate response. Just thought you were putting him on a pedestal after one game, just provided some context to that post. You could say the same thing about pretty much any player and it would be true. If Bruno or even Maguire gets injured for the rest of the season then Pogba will matter as much as McTominay in the chase for the title race.
