Too young to have seen him, but Irwin? Supposedly a master on either foot and an absolute dead ball specialist. Must’ve been a great technical fullback.
Scored a lot of goals for a FB and played in a team where the defenders generally chipped in. We have lost that side of our game which is hard to explain.
Steve Bruce was regularly on the score sheet and I struggle to understand why Maguire can’t do the same.

Sadly we didn't get the chance to see that. For the price that Depay has now, i don't get why we don't try to buy him again.
...You really want a cringefest rapper playing for us again?

Something really off about him. He didn't achieve so much in football but acting like the biggest football star on the face of the earth.

I always thought he had good technique, now he has added composure and it works for him even better.

The crossing though... Right now it seems to be one of his best attributes. He almost always delivers a dangerous ball, whether that's from open play or a set piece. Unbelievable improvement.

He seems to be the closest to "world class" level in our squad.

he's showing that dinosaur Mourinho what a good player he really is, and that he or no other player deserves the treatment JM aims at some players

I hope he plays out of his skin against Spurs on the 10th April, tearing them to bits

Who's gonna lose their spot in the England starting XI to include him? Who was the last to play in that spot? Chilwell?

Brilliant in the first half. I would've liked to see him stay on a bit longer but can understand why Solskjaer made the sub.

Great to see him getting a couple of assists though. His numbers don't do justice to the quality of chances he's been creating in the last few weeks.

Said it before, he's more like the left-back of Dani Alves. Other than crossing, his link-up play is superb. Just incredible.

So glad the majority of you are coming round on Shaw.

He (along with 2 others who are no longer here) has been my favourite player n the recent years.

Always rated him, glad he's putting it altogether.

He's been generally very good under Ole but he's really hit a new level the last few months.

I take what I say earlier. His crosses are no longer a weak spot of his.

Fecking brilliant fullback!

He'd be our 2nd truly world class player alongside Bruno if he can maintain this form.

I was thinking this recently. Seems like someone who can play almost anywhere and still be excellent.

Some delicious crosses today from which haven't seen him do much of at United, he's just getting better and better as the season goes on, could well end being our player of the season if he continues to play like this.

What a player he's turned into this season. If you were creating a wishlist for a world class, modern full back he'd tick off every single one of them. Long may it continue.

Great to see him get 2 assists today, he's been putting them on a platter all year and our forwards seem to miss them on purpose at times.

But as i said in the match day thread, his playmaking is crucial for our playstyle and I'm starting to think "play it to shaw" whenever we get the ball these days.

Keep it up Luke!

Has Ole confirmed whether he took him off at HT for a rest or did he pick up a knock?

He is very good for a long time now ! I like him a lot too. Always feel confident when he is here. One of the first names on the team sheet.
Also very young still. Just hope he stays healthy, he is always a big loss.

Holy shit I love this new Luke Shaw. He has grit and determination in him. Pace, strength, crossing, passing, decision-making, aggressiveness, defensively aware. He has it all right now and he plays with his chest out, simply amazing improvement.

That was pretty sensational. The improvement in his crossing has been fantastic.

Not exactly a revelation or something. He was an average player before, now he has stepped it up. The criticism and praises seem on par.
See, I and a few others don't agree.

He was our player of the year not so long ago.

Watching the TV or is it watching me
What Jose did to him was absolutely criminal and shows that his methods are even more outdated than we thought.

What Ole has done to rebuild his confidence and the work he himself has put in has been amazing, he is still only 25 he could play another 10 years.

My MOTM and he also made the key contributions to break the game. He's the best fullback in the league for me, not because he got a couple of assists, but rather because he's so important to our transitions. His passing and dribbling ability is of a very high technical level for a fullback and as things stand he's the best fullback in the league.

Having a solid base in midfield would allow wan and shaw to get forward and stay forward together a lot more often. Full back ball across the goal for the other full back to tap in is legit and I hope we see more of it. I loved our width tonight. Shaws stats are finally catching up with his performances. Delighted for him. He’s been a very important player for us for ages.

Quite. He's always had it in him, and it's not even been that hard to spot in my opinion. His superb technique, and his combination of pace and power, are not new. More than anything else he's been held back by injuries, which have so often limited his fitness. That limited fitness and limited game time (and Jose) had crushed his confidence. I also think there's an element that the style of football he probably expected to play as a youngster might not be the style that his body has eventually suited him to. No 17-year-old is really preparing for the fact that he's going to be built like a brick shithouse. It's taken him a while to learn how to use his assets. And it's taken him a while to realise that his best defensive style is old-school no-nonsense.

Absolutely. Whenever we're in possession and he's in space on the left side, I'm willing whoever's on the ball to play it to Shaw because you just know he'll create something whether driving forward with the ball, playing an incisive ball into a forward, or curling a perfect cross. Love to see it.

I hope Mourinho was watching that. What the feck was he thinking with his handling of Shaw. He almost ruined one of God's gifts!!
