Regardless of Bailly's contract situation, we are targeting a new CB. We are not required to let go of or sell CBs in order to bring new ones in.

Sold to who? His contract is expiring, and he should get a new one, as if he doesn’t, he’ll be released - which would be daft. That is the situation of Eric Bally, nothing to do with Lindelof’s or any prospective incoming defender.

Yeah much like Amad will be pressured into being the saviour on the RW when a properly run club will actually buy a new CB and also take the pressure off the young prospect by signing a starter in that position. I am also convinced that Matic has gotta announce he is leaving at end of the season or we have no hope of a new DM this summer at all

Not sure how much English Vida knew,if any, when he joined but he still managed to form the greatest CB pairing in Premier League history regardless.
If anything, this could be conjecture based off of his failing partnership with Lindelöf. However, Bailly and Maguire have worked quite well with each other, and I think it further proves that Lindelöf and Maguire can't play together. It has to be one or the other.
It doesn't sound good at all whatever it is. He's the fecking captain. It's his job to instill that knowledge into the team if it's not intrinsically understood. Problem is he is not a leader and never will be. The club should take it on the chin and cut our losses with this lumbering Riverdance wannabe fraud.
I find this weird because Bailly and Maguire together have had some shockers.
Maguire / Lindelof comfortablly have had our best defensive performances with. However since they have played together more will obviously have more bad games together.
In any case that criteria from Maguire is worrying
Maguire plays quite differently when he's paired with Bailly vs. Lindelöf. With Lindelöf, he tends to drop off way more, whilst with Bailly, he tends to hold his defensive line more and doesn't try to do more than he should.
This is also why we're going for a new defender. Bailly won't always be available, and those below both him and Lindelöf aren't necessarily ready to step up so soon.
