TAA could probably do with a bit of a rest.
I agree, we are no where near the favourites compared to other squads. Add the above and even players like Harvey Barnes and hopefully the manager picks the right line up, we could have an outside chance.Henderson, Sancho, Grealish, Maddison. Great players and would improve that squad no doubt but 3 of those have not even been to an international tournament. I get the hype, and some very exciting/promising players as well, but just don't think you should be anywhere near the favourites mentioned for the EC this season. Not sure you have been though, mind.
He's not played for half a season and played in a few games for West Ham yet automatically gets brought in yet Bamford doesn't get a chance. It may be down to injuries but unfair in my opinion.there’s not.
on current form, he 100% deserves to be in the squad.
He likes a 3-4-3.From that squad I'd play:
Henderson
James Maguire Stones Shaw
Rice Mount
Foden
Sterling Kane Rashford
They are not in the squad, the lineup was picked from current squad. That middle sounds disastrous.
Henderson, and Maddison got to start
Yeah I edited my post! They are not in the squad, the lineup was picked from current squad.
Also Trippier suspended for the past couple of months or so why has he been picked and not AWB or TAA?Would love the press to ask Southgate why lingard has been recalled having only played 5 or 6 games for West ham and if he said he was going down the route of picking form players fair enough then how the feck did Eric dier get picked?? He's been pony for ages.
you are comparing two players who play different roles! Bamford didn’t get in due to the call up of Watkins. He's not played for half a season and played in a few games for West Ham yet automatically gets brought in yet Bamford doesn't get a chance. It may be down to injuries but unfair in my opinion.
I adressed that earlier, I misread the tweet. He's Slovakian, though.
Perhaps he was rested but you cannot say his performances have been nearly up to par with what you'd expect, his stats are way down this season and he keeps giving the ball away.Since New Year we played 17 games and he started 15 of them. The only ones he didn't was the 3th round FA Cup against Villa and against Fulham were half of the starters were rested for the Champions League. So he hasn't been "dropped at times" at all, let alone based on performances.
I'm sure he could but his best position imo is as the CF, suits him a lot more and he has the strength for it.To be fair on Watkins, he can play as a wide attacker (doesn’t really play that week in week out for us) but he did for Brentford iirc.
Considering the opposition we are playing and the system we will play, you could have looked at more attackers and he is a quantity which has hardly played. He plays in a 3 behind the striker for West Ham and another attacker could have done the same. Complete slap in the face of other players but its typical Southgate so not surprised. Even someone like Lookman would be a better choice.you are comparing two players who play different roles! Bamford didn’t get in due to the call up of Watkins.
Lingard had played half a dozen games, and is a known quantity for the manager, and in excellent form.
he deserves the call up.
he may not be there is Maddison and Grealish were available - but as they aren’t, he’s a good option.
Chilwell and Dier are playing well? Trippier has been suspended for the past few games. Cresswell playing well but not picked over Chilwell.Look Southgate said he'll pick who is playing well, he's finally actually doing that, and people are having a shit fit. I think the blokes a mug, we'll never win anything under him, but he's doing what he said he'd do when he got the job.
Lingard is playing great at the moment, deserves it. We've got plenty of important injuries, so why not? It's not as if he's taking the place of Grealish etc., they're not fit, they can't play.
I'd rather Holgate , Keane and Godfrey over friggin Dier.Little bit surprised that Watkins has been given the chance over Bamford, however not worried about Lingard's inclusion because we do have injuries to Grealish, Maddison & Barnes so feel confident they will be in the euros squad provided they are fully fit of course. I am also a little surprised that Keane hasn't made this squad as he looks to have really kicked on under Ancelotti at Everton bar the mistake against City.
Dier is shite, but he's a Southgate fav, same with Trippier. The bloke is clueless. To be fair I rate Trippier, but he's literally not been playing so its a joke.Chilwell and Dier are playing well? Trippier has been suspended for the past few games.
so we just ignore the fact he’s in very good form...Considering the opposition we are playing and the system we will play, you could have looked at more attackers and he is a quantity which has hardly played. He plays in a 3 behind the striker for West Ham and another attacker could have done the same. Complete slap in the face of other players but its typical Southgate so not surprised. Even someone like Lookman would be a better choice.
Always seems to be case with every England manager, they always have their favourites, maybe its why we never actually win anything.Dier is shite, but he's a Southgate fav, same with Trippier. The bloke is clueless. To be fair I rate Trippier, but he's literally not been playing so its a joke.
Of course he's in good form, I havent got onto the hate brigade of our fans for Lingard, think he's been harshly treated but its criminal for a player to play 6 games in however many months and suddenly find themselves in the squad. Its not a personal issue. Its a bad example to players who have been playing well all season. I know people are injured and maybe thats why he's in but easily could have picked two attackers like Bamford (explained position reason before) and Lookman. Its not just Lingard selection I have an issue with, its Dier for playing poorly and Chilwell and Tripper for not being regulars in their teams while AWB, Keane and Cressswell who have been playing well don't get in.so we just ignore the fact he’s in very good form...
I understand the dislike some fans have, but he’s playing very well and deserves his place.
He's 28?! for gods sake I remember when he was the great young promising Chelsea striker and now he's nearly 30. I thought he was still only about 24Bamford is knocking on for 28 and is having the first good season at top level of his career.
I can see why he's not been picked.
Well 27 but certainly didn't realise he was that old eitherHe's 28?! for gods sake I remember when he was the great young promising Chelsea striker and now he's nearly 30. I thought he was still only about 24
Godfrey is in the u-21 squad which I think is better for him currently. Gives him the experience of an international tournament too.Surely Ben Godfrey and AWB should be in the squad? Can't really argue with the rest mind if we are basing it on form.
90% of NT managers are not very good.I can't wait til Southgate fecks off from the England job, absolutely joker.
Hamsik is not from sloveniaThe big star Hamsik got hit with an injury and is supposedly out for at least a month. Will need to get back on track quickly before the Euros this summer.
