New RB crossed off the summer shopping list.
Regardless, the new RB would have been further down the priority list and probably something we'd have addressed once we got in a new CB and striker. I wouldn't expect us to go after a new right back even if we wanted to sell Dalot.

Some added context: there was talk in Italy about Ribéry potentially leaving Fiorentina due to his waning influence in the team, but those are from weak sources.

I have a contract with Fiorentina through 2023. I'm very comfortable in Florence, I'm loved. I arrived as a kid and now I'm a man. There will be time and a place to talk about an extension. At this moment I'm concentrated on the remaining eleven finals, we want to get some points also for the president.

I know that this Tweet will garner a different kind of attention, but the key point here is that United are looking to replace Matic. Whether that comes this summer remains to be seen, but it does mean that they're looking for a new DM at this time.

Yeah hearing it from one of our more reliable sources is at least a positive sign, however just hope it isn't a case of Rice or nobody for this position and we are looking at some cheaper options on the continent too

Regarding Rice, interestingly, he was only mentioned as a CB target by Jacob Steinberg a few months back. Since then, he hasn't been mentioned. At this point, no one knows who we're actually targeting to replace Matic (internally or otherwise).

Maybe they’ve been noticing my 1 million posts about our lack of a single defensive midfielder other than ancient Matic and how it’s one of the most important positions on the pitch.

Also how it will bring the best our in Pogba whilst doing the same with the defence.

Has to be a priority along with Haaland.

Yeah that is very true and like Bruno has shown there are some shrewd deals to be done outside of the PL

Presume you are talking Haaland next summer as we couldn't afford both him and a CB/RW/DM this one

I do suspect Garner has been earmarked to have a go at this role.

It's good to see this position at least getting mentioned now.

They don't stop coming.

Source: Infobae

Basically, Boca president Riquelme is maintaining direct contact with Cavani and his camp at this time. This reads more like a rehash than anything new.

Yeah I felt positive about us maybe signing someone there when Whitwell was speaking but then Mitten starts talking about looking at McTominay & Garner and almost pours a bit of a cold water on things

Retweeted by Falk himself:
Maybe but how much are willing to offer this time, obviously would need to find another stop gap striker as think Eddy could well be leaving and IF we were serious about still going for Haaland next summer then don't want a long term option

I didn't see Mitten's tweet/article, McTominay isn't a Matic type at all, he's a box to box workhorse with a goal threat, and Garner is pie in the sky right now, a couple of decent months at Forest doesn't prove anything, he needs another season there and then a PL loan imo, he xan then be competition for whomever we buy to replace Matic.

Wasn't an article I just listened to him on that podcast

No Haaland as the main acquisition and a DM as the second signing of the window.

There’s no elite level DM’s available anyway so a decent quality level DM should hopefully be attainable.

But yeah it’s Wishful thinking to even get Haaland to be honest though.

Where the grass is greener.
My prediction is Sancho, a DM, and a cheap CB. Cavani to leave, so maybe a cheap striker signing on top of that.

This is if Pogba stays, if he goes it would be a very different window.

Yeah keep telling myself it's purely a pipe dream so the pain won't be bad when it inevitably doesn't happen, so who would you consider a decent level DM just out of interest this summer

Luckhurst has mentioned that we'll only go after a new midfielder if Pogba leaves this summer. Based on that, don't expect any activity unless we make some money off of sales (not necessarily from Pogba).

Somewhat similar thoughts.
Think Sancho for around £60m.

Sell Lingard, Dalot and Pereira if possible for 45-50.

Get in a decent CB, unless Haaland is available then break the bank for him with additional funds made available from the board. Then either a cheap CB or rely on Mengi as backup to Lindelöf and Bailly for a year.

Maybe a DM if any decent available within budget.

Milenkovic cheap enough or could we still explore the Ramos thing if he doesn't sign a new deal (he will I know). I would be utterly staggered if we signed 4 players in one window though but would make up for last summer's debacle though. So who is your prediction for DM as no way could we afford Rice & Jadon in one window.

Personally I would go nearer £35m for those three (Jesse £15m and others £10m each) and surely Dortmund still don't sell Jadon for less than £80m, who would you like to see us bring in at CB just out of interest

Think Haaland is wishful thinking. It's not really down to the club not holding enough of a substantial name, I think it's more to do with the club's resources being too limited if City / PSG throw big money at Dortmund.

Fans still undermine that the club has done competitively well competing against City for players (Fred / Maguire) but given the pandemic, it will really show a clear distinction against revenue income which United exceed at compared to those like City who have an individual or group which feed the clubs financially.

The difficulty with DM (which I agree we desperately need) is that we don't yet know who he'll be paired with - you'd want a very different midfield partner for Pogba than you would for McTominay (I'm assuming that whoever comes in will be sitting in a two behind Fernandes).

Don't sell Ed short. Now that he can focus on commercial deals again the money's gonna come rolling in.

Maybe, but I think Lingard should fetch 20, and Dalot still somewhat a bargain at 15. 50 was ambitious, but this is the caf so gotta put on a bit.

60 for Jadon might be hopeful, but also depends how many would want to sign him this summer and how ready he is to move? Seems like he's been open to move 2 summers ago, and expected last summer, so this one he's likely to demand it. Depends what offers they can get in the market now.

I don't have a big opinion on CB's atm. Like most muppets I wanted Koulibaly last year. Maybe if Varane is available. But I'll start muppeting for CB options closer to the summer.

We all love United
I think Saul could be the top priority on our wish list of DMs. Him and Sancho would be a great summer. I don’t think Haaland will be sold this year but the next. BVB won’t sell him and Sancho in the same window especially when they make the CL this season
