Henderson, Sancho, Grealish, Maddison. Great players and would improve that squad no doubt but 3 of those have not even been to an international tournament. I get the hype, and some very exciting/promising players as well, but just don't think you should be anywhere near the favourites mentioned for the EC this season. Not sure you have been though, mind.
I agree, we are no where near the favourites compared to other squads. Add the above and even players like Harvey Barnes and hopefully the manager picks the right line up, we could have an outside chance.

Bit strange that the Liverpool and United starting rb’s can’t get in the England squad.
Hope Deano gets a chance in goal he deserves it.

From that squad I'd play:
Henderson
James Maguire Stones Shaw
Rice Mount
Foden
Sterling Kane Rashford

Would love the press to ask Southgate why lingard has been recalled having only played 5 or 6 games for West ham and if he said he was going down the route of picking form players fair enough then how the feck did Eric dier get picked?? He's been pony for ages.

Also Trippier suspended for the past couple of months or so why has he been picked and not AWB or TAA?

He's not played for half a season and played in a few games for West Ham yet automatically gets brought in yet Bamford doesn't get a chance. It may be down to injuries but unfair in my opinion.
you are comparing two players who play different roles! Bamford didn’t get in due to the call up of Watkins.

Lingard had played half a dozen games, and is a known quantity for the manager, and in excellent form.

he deserves the call up.

he may not be there is Maddison and Grealish were available - but as they aren’t, he’s a good option.

Didn't realize Maddison was still injured. He's been really unlucky with these England call ups. He was in great form before he got injured.

I think AWB should be in the squad. You get to the latter stages and come up against an Mbappe or Gnabry for example then who do you want facing them? Trippier? Doesn't have the athleticism. Walker? Has the athleticism but not the brains. James? Strong but still a bit naive. TAA? Can't defend. I don't really care is AWB is a black hole going forward, we have more than enough creativity and fire power elsewhere to make up for it.

Look Southgate said he'll pick who is playing well, he's finally actually doing that, and people are having a shit fit. I think the blokes a mug, we'll never win anything under him, but he's doing what he said he'd do when he got the job.

Lingard is playing great at the moment, deserves it. We've got plenty of important injuries, so why not? It's not as if he's taking the place of Grealish etc., they're not fit, they can't play.

He's Slovakian, though.
I adressed that earlier, I misread the tweet.

Since New Year we played 17 games and he started 15 of them. The only ones he didn't was the 3th round FA Cup against Villa and against Fulham were half of the starters were rested for the Champions League. So he hasn't been "dropped at times" at all, let alone based on performances.
Perhaps he was rested but you cannot say his performances have been nearly up to par with what you'd expect, his stats are way down this season and he keeps giving the ball away.

To be fair on Watkins, he can play as a wide attacker (doesn’t really play that week in week out for us) but he did for Brentford iirc.
I'm sure he could but his best position imo is as the CF, suits him a lot more and he has the strength for it.

So what’s the deal with Premier league based non England players.
Are they gonna be called up or what due to the quarantine restrictions ?

Bruno, Pogba, etc?

Considering the opposition we are playing and the system we will play, you could have looked at more attackers and he is a quantity which has hardly played. He plays in a 3 behind the striker for West Ham and another attacker could have done the same. Complete slap in the face of other players but its typical Southgate so not surprised. Even someone like Lookman would be a better choice.

Chilwell and Dier are playing well? Trippier has been suspended for the past few games. Cresswell playing well but not picked over Chilwell.

Little bit surprised that Watkins has been given the chance over Bamford, however not worried about Lingard's inclusion because we do have injuries to Grealish, Maddison & Barnes so feel confident they will be in the euros squad provided they are fully fit of course. I am also a little surprised that Keane hasn't made this squad as he looks to have really kicked on under Ancelotti at Everton bar the mistake against City.

so we just ignore the fact he’s in very good form...

I understand the dislike some fans have, but he’s playing very well and deserves his place.

Of course he's in good form, I havent got onto the hate brigade of our fans for Lingard, think he's been harshly treated but its criminal for a player to play 6 games in however many months and suddenly find themselves in the squad. Its not a personal issue. Its a bad example to players who have been playing well all season. I know people are injured and maybe thats why he's in but easily could have picked two attackers like Bamford (explained position reason before) and Lookman. Its not just Lingard selection I have an issue with, its Dier for playing poorly and Chilwell and Tripper for not being regulars in their teams while AWB, Keane and Cressswell who have been playing well don't get in.

It happens with every single England manager so I suppose I should be used to it but it still annoys me.

Bamford is knocking on for 28 and is having the first good season at top level of his career.

I can see why he's not been picked.
He's 28?! for gods sake I remember when he was the great young promising Chelsea striker and now he's nearly 30. I thought he was still only about 24

TAA out is fine based on form, but to be replaced by Walker must hurt.

I assume AWB has turned down England now then? As surely he'd be preferred.

Surely Ben Godfrey and AWB should be in the squad? Can't really argue with the rest mind if we are basing it on form.

Too many NT's get ruined stylistically by awful conservative managers (Low, Deschamps, Southgate, de Boer). It's such a shame, so much decisions to be questioned. Despite some (great) succes, they have blood on their hands.

Godfrey is in the u-21 squad which I think is better for him currently. Gives him the experience of an international tournament too.

Has the German squad been announced yet? There are six days to the next match and can't find any news of a statement.
