Interesting comments from Guendouzi today. Looks like maybe he didn't make the smartest choices. I doubt Arteta wants him or needs him now.
Im not sure about this. I think every club is unique and Arteta finds himself in a wholly different situation.Christ, Maguire went on a drunken rampage, beat up a load of cops and went to jail and got nothing but support from Man United.
You don't drop your captain if he gets stuck in a traffic jam, surely!
Well, he went to Hertha so, yeah that's safe to sayInteresting comments from Guendouzi today. Looks like maybe he didn't make the smartest choices. I doubt Arteta wants him or needs him now.
exactly. In rebuild years the EL is a nice taster for a few games for your young fringe players. The only thing with us is if we are in it then Maguire Bruno and Rashford are still probably playing 99% of the matches. We were able to debut amad and shoretire this season and that’s been the best thing about the competition for me so far. I’d rather we consolidate second this season because I don’t think we have enough to go flat out in everything and not lose important players to fatigue and injury. The squad is still too thin in depth and quality. I think at this stage an improving second is a better sales pitch for incoming players of a certain standard than EL finalists/winners and 4th place.I've never been with the idea of missing out on Europe being a good thing. It's a squad game and all these clubs have masses upon masses of players.
If there are too many games, simply prioritise certain competitions and use others to give opportunities to younger players.
For example in Arsenal's case, Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah have been sent back down to the U23s! So we clearly don't have enough matches to go around.
Participate in as many competitions as possible and use the squad. Now I know nobody really wants to be in the new Europa Conference League competition, but if we were I'd use it and the Carabao for the likes of Nelson, Nketiah and Martinelli to get game time.
This isn't unique to Wenger. Player power has been increasing for ages and even SAF had to deal with it, kicking boots at Beckham or whatever.Im not sure about this. I think every club is unique and Arteta finds himself in a wholly different situation.
Wenger did so much for Arsenal but one damaging thing he did towards the end of his reign was have a very relaxed attitude to certain stars and their behavior. The likes of Ozil was almost allowed to pick and choose his games and Wenger covered for him because of his ability.
From the outside, it looked like arsenal had lost their fight and discipline under him and that didn’t improve under Emery.
I think Arteta is trying to instill order and he still has some more bad eggs to flush out. Maybe he wants to see an appropriate reaction from his captain before the summer.
He did the right thing. He's trying to impose a culture change at Arsenal. He's managed to root out some 'bad eggs', & high earners that were doing very little. He's trying to make it a more professional & disciplined club, which in turn creates a better focus for improving results long term.Im not sure about this. I think every club is unique and Arteta finds himself in a wholly different situation.

Guendouzi looked like a brilliant talent to me, in the limited games I saw. He played with a lot of determination too. Am I wrong? I'm guessing you've seen more. This isn't unique to Wenger. Guendouzi has learned a good lesson early on in his career that he might actually take it on board.

If not then I think you'd be better off accepting he's learnt his lesson and bring him back. Your team is shaping up nicely and he could be a big player for you.
Hmm I'm not going to lie, based on what I saw I'd take him here. I'd say he's exactly what we need if he keeps developing. It feels rather rash to let a talent like that leave because of something that comes from, most probably, a lack of maturity.Good but indisciplined. Regularly got bookings and reds. An attitude problem doesn't bode well. I'd let somebody else try and make a career for him as we already have enough boneheads giving away penalties and catching reds.
Well Arteta clearly saw enough to ship him out ASAP so I'd defer to his judgment on that. As you say, we really needed a player like him so it wasn't a decision taken lightly.Hmm I'm not going to lie, based on what I saw I'd take him here. Especially in your position where you are rebuilding and probably don't have big funds. I don't know, I just got that feeling you'd unearthed another good player but you seem to be giving up on him before he's even got going. Iron out the kinks and reap the rewards!
It's only a loan though, right? Like I said I've not seen much of him (5 or 6 games maybe) and Arteta does seem to have a good grip on things. It'll be interesting to see if he does bring him back or moves him on. Just my 2 cents, based on limited viewing!Well Arteta clearly saw enough to ship him out ASAP so I'd defer to his judgment on that. His problem isn't just the mistakes he made. The last straw was the incident at the end of the Brighton game, where he actually refused to acknowledge wrong doing or apologise to the manager. That's what seen him frozen out. It's only a loan though, right? Like I said I've not seen much of him (5 or 6 games maybe) and Arteta does seem to have a good grip on things. I think his futures hinges on the EL but I don't think they'll sack him anyway. Maybe once the fans are back and if things are still shit they might.Arteta gets a big win (Utd and Spurs) and everyone says "omg hes another pep" then goes to shit in the next league game (Villa and West Ham).
Arsenal should be able to beat Villareal (assuming they go through vs Slavia) and then it's only one game against whoever they play against in the final. I'd rather play City in a cup final then Arsenal, it is just 1 game and except that 2019 Europa league final loss I don't think they've lost a cup final since Birmingham in 2011.Surely he has to be sacked?
At a mid table club!Mid table manager.
They just lost at home with Olympiakos and are getting destroyed by West Ham.Arsenal should be able to beat Villareal (assuming they go through vs Slavia) and then it's only one game against whoever they play against in the final. Never post 20 mins into a gameHe's a joke.
Doesn't change anything. Their squad is good enough to finish in Top6.Never post 20 mins into a game
They're four points behind top six... hardly a million miles away!Doesn't change anything. Their squad is good enough to finish in Top6.
Its 29 games into the season and they are 9th, having lost 11 times. I don’t think it’s knee jerk just because he has scrapped a point against west ham.The kneejerk reactions in here are priceless.
Who are 5th in the table...Its 29 games into the season and they are 9th, having lost 11 times. I don’t think it’s knee jerk just because he has scrapped a point against west ham.
