A motivated, in form Pogba is a sight to behold. Just a class on his own

If he is committed to the club and wants to stay, i'd love to keep him, but honestly, as good as he is on his day im done with the drama and the half arsed performances where he barely even looks bothered.
Spot on, and the trouble is the drama and half arsedness happen a whole of more than the class performances.

Completely agree but they already have an easy excuse to fall back on with the VdB signing, which they will just say was the replacement all along. Now I’m a fan of Donny and have been one of the ones crying out for him to get more game time all season but I don’t believe we can fill the Pogba shaped hole with him alone if he does happen to leave the club.
VDB can't lace Pogbas boots. He cannot be apart of being his replacement.

And thus isn't me trying to shit on VDB but if you replace Pogba like that then you truly have no ambition and are just asking to regress

He’s such a unit and has such brilliant technique, can just ride challenges and has the ability to complete very difficult passes.

Excellent again today! It's been up and down with him over the last few years, but ultimately I would be gutted to lose him in the summer.

He's not really a central midfielder but he's not a forward either which makes him a tough player to fit in. On days like this, he's nearly unplayable. But long term he's not got the right skillset for a winger. Left of a three man midfield with both him and Bruno putting in a shift could possible work under certain managers but probably not given now poor we would be defensively.
Not with two mobile, tireless ball winners supporting them rather than a static DM.

Moreover, him playing well makes the team better and the team playing better makes him look good. Sometimes what's asked of him is just impossible.
Agreed. The two are extrinsically linked. I can’t remember too many great team performances where Pogba hasn’t played well.

What a performance that was from Pogba, I wasn’t sure we would see that again from him but I am very happen to be proven wrong. Top, top performance and MOTM for me.

The only thing I've got to say is we should reward his performance with a new contract he's been a beast for quite sometime.

Such a majestic performance, wonder if this will be counted in the "had 5 good games a season or since he signed for us".
it took two decent performances on his return from injury for the idiots to start.

I rate him as our best player (i know, i know, but but Bruno etc...). And it is shame that we didn't even start talking about his new contract. We are throwing 60-70k contracts to bench warmers but we will lose him for free or for small fee.

Seemed to have a free role in the second half and it suited him. I am not convinced by him in the pivot - the closer to the final third he is, the better

Wide playmaker, such a great role for him. Less defensive responsibility & has far more output. Outstanding performance. What a player.
Yeah it's interesting to say the least. Kind of allows both him and Bruno to have a free role, which suits both. It does mean having Rashford up top and Greenwood out wide though, but most of all means we have to find 2 midfielders in the final iteration of our side. Now Fred and Scott were excellent second half and they are capable of being those guys bit for consistency's stake then they need to be back ups to new midfielders. I'd never sell them though. If we could find those two midfielders for the role then Pogba could be a revelation in the left side free role that he played today.

He was perfectly set to smash it in with his right. Backheeling it was a fecking shocking decision, but it's all forgotten now. MoM by far.
Did you see at the end where Ole seemed to be mimicking the same to him ? If Ole thought he could, then he definitely could have, but it wasn't a 'dire' mistake, just a midfielder taking the wrong option that a striker wouldn't have.

@amolbhatia50k I agree with this. For me the biggest difference from first half to second was actually Scott and Fred. In the first half they were hopeless but they took control in the second. Now consistency is a problem for them but if we were to find two better midfielders who can do that stuff consistently then I don't see a problem with Pogba playing that role consistently. He's certainly good enough himself for it to be a serious consideration. It's really the only system that allows him and Bruno to play free roles together, and that suits both (our two best attacking players). Having that and also having Fred and Scott as squad options would bring us up a level I feel. There are downsides which probably means Mason at RW long term but Rashford could play up top. The only thing is though that maybe having those players in those positions and having a consistent midfield allows us to bring Mason into scoring positions much more often.

The touch at 2:24 was outrageous :houllier:

Rolls Royce performance today especially down the stretch in the 2nd half when it really mattered

He was majestic today, simply sublime, and I liked the attempt at the back heel, that would have been goal of the season if it went in

With the massive improvement this season we’ve seen from Shaw we can get away with Pogba playing off the left and roaming.

Fantastic in the second half. I couldn't wait for him to leave early on in the season, but praying he stays now. Pure class.

Loving the understanding he's developed with Cavani

Imperius in the second half. He's so much better when he plays closer to the final third. That ability to ride those tackles and the quick feet to set up Greenwood was so good.

It was a strange/terrible decision. No matter what position he plays. That ball was begging to be hooked in on the volley. By far the most obvious decision.

Doesn’t take away from the performance though. Which was excellent. Everyone makes mistakes.

He was great today.

Enjoyed hearing The Toxic one still criticising him after the game
Mourinho is like a child and he showed him how good he can be, some absolute world class plays form him today. Should play that LAM free role from now on. He's such a well rounded and complete player he could play anywhere but closer to oppo goal the better, his footwork is great, and vision in the final third along with runs from Cavani, Shaw, Fred and other who are on the same wavelength can really help. On top of that great hold up play and press resistancy. If he palys deeper he s got that amazing passing range noone can match but without runners and teams heavily pressing he's sometimes out of the game while very moody when he's about to defend or press. PLay him as a LAM from now on.

Yep, didn't he play the same sort of role at Juve. Wide left playmaker, free to do as he pleases. You don't need out & out pace on the wings, creativity comes in many forms.

World class performance from him today. Deserved a goal, and could have got it had he not tried that fancy finish from 6 yards out

Best player at the club. Still convinced of that. Match his ambition, offer him a central role and I am sure he will want to stay and commit.

A happy, motivated and fit Pogba is our best player. It looks like he's back to his best and really relishing the games in the run in. Was immense today and long may it continue.

Alot of people will be very quiet.
He needs to do this in more games. I’d rather he was influential to our play like tonight instead of being on the periphery and popping up with an goal. That was his performance of the season and it was so so good. He really got us playing. I thought Bruno was quite poor today beyond the pressing. I honestly don’t think they’ve played well together in very many games. One or the other takes over. I think he’s best as the attacking midfielder in a 3 which of course is awkward that our two best players play in the same position but this is post Fergie United so of course that’s what’s happened.

Completely agree. He needs to be deployed higher up the pitch, where he can do maximum damage. He's not best suited to a double pivot IMO. But having said that, he was excellent and my MOTM.

With all the super-car analogies going on, Pogba was just purring all 90mins. He seems to have been playing more consistently (if you include the bit before his injury) and seems to be making more of an effort with the small things not just trying the Hollywood passes.

This Pogba deserves the new contract.

IMO a club like United should have a DM that can be a proper high level deep lying playmaker and a mobile destroyer. There's not a whole lot of them out there and whoever it is won't be cheap, but It's absolutely essential in the modern game for any club that fancies themselves as a "big club". For me one of them can be upgraded upon while still remaining a key squad player.
