True. Wasn't PLC a better model, given that?People thinking that anyone who spends 5bilion on a club for no financial or political gain are out of their fecking minds.
Why can't the Glazers just pinch someone with experience at another club?More I think about it the more I feel the next person is going to be a whole lot worse. Another person clueless about football who will take 6 years to learn on the job.
Yep, PLC would be better but as a company it's under more strict regulation.True. Wasn't PLC a better model, given that?
This will just annoy the supporters even more.Tweet

The problem is this. Football people running multimillion pound businesses lead to bankruptcy, business people running football clubs leads to poor sporting strategic design making. Ideally two things need to happen:So predictable isn't it.
First time i saw him years ago, you could just tell he was a prick too. Just the type the Glazers love.
Another guy who doesn't know anything about football being in charge would be a nightmare. I can only cross my fingers we're wrong. But it's inevitable.
ARGHHH !!!
It’ll be another JP Morgan stooge to keep up the leverage payments and keep the sponsorship money rolling inTweet

I'm fine with somebody who doesn't know much about football as long as he recognises that he knows nothing about football, and leaves that side of the business to the qualified people. If he comes in and focuses entirely on the financial and commercial side of things, and his only direct contribution to the football side of things is to provide the yearly budget and to cut weak links if the DoF isn't working out, it's happy days.Another guy who doesn't know anything about football being in charge would be a nightmare. Hmm i still think its a dangerous game.I'm fine with somebody who doesn't know much about football as long as he recognises that he knows nothing about football, and leaves that side of the business to the qualified people. The two nightmare scenarios are somebody who doesn't know anything about football trying to be involved in that aspect (which seemed to be Woodward's big issue, although he did seem to start delegating more towards the end), or a football man trying to be involved in the financial side of things when they are no good at that. Either one ends terribly.
In theory the perfect scenario is a football man who is also great with the financial aspects, but if we had to choose one or the other it would rightfully be the financial guru. A good CEO then knows to surround himself with the right people and ensures he delegates to fit everyone's strengths.

He seems happy at Ajax tbf. Can't they love he fans just once and try to get VDS!
Why would he want to work for the Glazers?? He's not an idiotCan't they love he fans just once and try to get VDS!
It’s still a very well run club. How long has Semmens been at Southampton? It used to be a really well run club until very recently.
Still is very well run. They have a limited budget and yet do shrewd work in the transfer market and frequently punch above their weight. The fade in the second half of this season has more to do with the realities of a small club with a limited squad who cannot effectively mitigate injury problems. They had a spate of injuries starting in December and the multiple missed games by Ings and Vestergaard combined with the long term absence of Romeu has really impacted them. They will still be in the PL next season though and have an excellent recruitment and youth setup. Not sure how much credit Semmens is due for this but hard to imagine he would be worse than Ed.How long has Semmens been at Southampton? It used to be a really well run club until very recently.

Well, I was pretty amazed that they tried to loan and sell as many squad players as possible before the end of the January window - so I looked at their fans forums and people were saying there were calls from up top to service debts and cut costs at every opportunity. It's not like they've been some big spenders.Still is very well run. They have a limited budget and yet do shrewd work in the transfer market and frequently punch above their weight. Wow. So the owners are pocketing the rest of the cash? That’s a horrible budget for any manager trying to survive in the PL let alone attempting to thrive.Well, I was pretty amazed that they tried to loan and sell as many squad players as possible before the end of the January window - so I looked at their fans forums and people were saying there were calls from up top to service debts and cut costs at every opportunity. According to Transfermarkt over the last 5 years their net spend has been 28m Euros.
Yeah, Hasenhüttl has his hands tied behind his back. I don't know what the money is going towards, but they spend very little and still the TV money is the Prem gold rush, so it doesn't add up.Wow. Their fans don’t seem to ever complain? I know that they have a decent stadium/youth/scouting setup and they are a selling club but all that aside surely they could still afford to spend 30/40 million a season just on the tv money alone? Those owners are ripping off the fans unless there’s something else important that I’m missing. Imagine supporting a club and knowing you have lots of money coming in, a good manager and good young players but your owners were totally happy with surivuval and selling your best players with almost 0 reinvestment. That would drive me madYeah, Hasenhüttl has his hands tied behind his back. Well that didn't age very wellGive it to Giggsy till the end of the season!
Would so like this to be true but didn't Whitwell & Mitten on their podcast suggest it will be Arnold/Baty, think the only reason that Crook is talking about it because he mentions the Southampton & Brighton CEO's and he's a South Coast correspondent. He will definitely be more connected that the MEN lot but certainly not as well connected as the other two I mentioned earlier.Tweet
