You have three centerback formation you don't need world class CBs. That's what he did with Cahill and Luiz he can't get that defensive solidity hence he include azpi in CBs three group. Cahill Luiz not world class as 2 CBs but that three CBs formation gave chelsea that security. He even used Moses as right wing back in that season and won the league.
To be fair, he managed to win the league with Chelsea when Pep & Klopp were still building. Not taking away from his achievement though, can only beat what's in front off you.

League next season will be fun, Klopp, Pep, Tuchel, Conte, Rodgers, Ole looking to sign a couple of top players....looking forward to it already.

They played infront of Kante and Matic who was still one of the best DMs in the league. That helped defensive solidity.
Chelsea had Moses and Alonso as wingbacks. Both were really not good at defending. Conte can get better output from this Spurs team because he has players readymade for his formation.

Midfield is downgraded from that Chelsea team but he can compensate that with better wing backs and good strike force in Kane and son.

Another plus for Chelsea team in that season was no European competition.

Not every attacking player can play as wingback, Bergwin won't play as wingback. Anyways they have Doherty who is very good wing back.

I hope Ole has the ability to talk to the glazer board and tell them that even a top 4 is going to be significantly harder this year without a lot of money.

Hopefully the fact that last summer was not that heavy either should help us getting some transfers in both quantity and quality.

Ole can really go for some transfers that should be enough to go compete for the title and decide if Ole is our future manager or not.

Hope it happens! Would be great for the league and if Spurs sign Conte I just can't see Kane leave for next 2-3 years.

Pointless signing Conte without a war chest for him, is that war chest dependant on Kane leaving if so, that war chest needs doubling.

A great hire if Levy can back him. If he won't, it is a waste of time.

What about Moyes? How could you leave David Moyes out of that list

He's a top manager, but just like Jose with spurs, it doesn't seem like a good fit. He likes to spend and makes a fuss when he doesn't. I don't think Levy will change so this won't end well.

Conte joining some illustrious names who have managed Chelsea before Spurs

Hoddle

World class manager together with a new director of football very interesting. Top 4?
Need a massive squad overhaul. Winks, Sissoko, Dier, Lamela, Aurier can probably all go. Kane sold to City for big $$$$, it's a bridge too far for Spurs, there is no way they are shifting and bringing in that many players on their tight budget. If Kane goes they do not even have a striker as Vinicius was only a loan deal, as was Bale.

The team is mid table without Kane, Son the only one you would look at and say top four material. Lloris, Doherty, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Reguillon, Ndombele, Hojbjerg, Moura, Bergwyn, Alli, Son. If Conte gets top four with that he deserves manager of the year vote.

Pretty sure they are trying to bring Conte to convince Kane to stay and that they are still aiming to compete and win something. All depends on Kane now I guess.

Think it's a pretty shrewd appointment. One of our biggest mistakes post Fergie was flip flopping between tactical styles (Moyes --> LvG --> Jose) by hiring someone like Graham Potter.

There was some good in that Jose side, esp early on in the season when they were almost title contenders. Building on that through someone like Conte makes total sense.

Why would Conte even want to go there? He’s got a good thing going at Inter, they’ll probably be favourites for the league next season, and I presume he’s well paid there. Spurs are a poisoned chalice for a big name manager. They seem kind of like a big club now, and the expectations of one seem to be there (at least from within), but they’re never going to invest what’s needed to really compete.

He wants to strengthen the Inter squad to push for the CL, but the opposite will be happening. Inter might have to sell one or two of their better players because they’re having financial difficulties.

This, but are Spurs really in a better position? Spurs squad investment is pretty laughable, it is below the likes of Everton and Hammers I thought?

They really hit the jackpot with Kane, a world class striker straight from their academy they didn't have to pay a dime for. The chance of lightning striking twice? Slim to none, it's back to the Soldado, Pavlyuchenko, and Adebayor days leading the line for Spurs.

He's got nothing at Inter, considering they let him go a week or two back.

Makes zero sense this.

Spurs are in a much worse state than Inter and their current lack of ambition annoyed the hell out of him. Without a massive squad overhaul, something Spurs don’t have the money for, he’s going the same way as Poch & Jose.

One of those that leaves you scratching your head cause you and the majority are 90% certain how it’ll turn out.
