Kane was isolated against a back 3 just like Lukaku was yesterday. But instead of having a player directly behind him and allowing Kane to drift, you throw on Rashford as a like for like change?

Haul off Mount and Sterling. Allow for Grealish to come off the left, Rashford is the vertical threat off the inside right, and Foden pulls the strings in the middle.

At least throw on DCL over Rashford as the 9 when you're just crossing into the box.

If England finish 2nd, they avoid the France/Portugal group all together. Shows how much you're the one actually not paying attention.
So they'll try to draw against Czech R
First point in a tournament in 23 years you arrogant bellend.

Get it round you.
and it may be the last one you win for the next 23 years with that attitude

Let's just hope Southgate gets the sack after this tournament. It will take a lot for the FA to sack a yes man like him, though.

I was just wondering if a combined Scotland and Wales team would be a better side than England.

What options did he have? None. Nobody was making runs or showing any attacking intent.

Most of the time we kept going down the right, anyway.

At least Grealish beat some players and showed some attacking intent.
I liked it when he passed it to one of the blokes warming up!

Look, Grealish IS a great player but he did feck all tonight (like the rest of them) other than win a few free kicks on the halfway line.

Sorry but GIRFUY!!!

5-0 England
6-0 England

These were some of the predictions on here and elsewhere. A total lack of respect as if we were San Marino or some sort of clueless minnow that were going to get our arses handed out to them very easily and embarrassed worldwide.

I was the 6. I figured it would wind someone up.

You played quite well.

Spot on, it's odd.

I'm not English so don't really have a dog in this race, but if I were I think I'd abide the weird loyalty to perennial underperformers if he just showed a little blood bravery in his setups.

Two holders against Scotland? With the attackers England have sat? Mental.
I am French mate and I can see how Deschamps is running things. It is completely different.
He played Giroud in the world cup when he wasn’t playing in his club. He had a clear idea and he always selected players who performed for the NT. There is a real group as well. Everyone is involved. Even the players who never played.
Southgate seemed to have his favorites and when it doesn’t work he is just throwing the next big thing out there. It doesn’t seem to have any cohesion between the players. But England was always like that and it seems exactly the same right now.

I'm half Welsh. Guess I have higher expectations of teams playing their first tournament in yonks than sitting with 5 at the back and celebrating not scoring a single goal like they've won the fecking thing
To be honest, I couldn't give a eff either way. Some of the reactions from both sides are amusing. Football eh.

Finishing second means being dumped out to France in the quarter's and if not then, Belgium/Italy in the semis. Finishing first means being on the easier side of the draw, albeit we would play one of Portugal/Germany in the round of 16.

I don`t understand why Scotland are happy with a draw , England were awful tonight and Scotland needed a win , they should be disappointed they didn`t take their chance .

Probably Sweden/Poland/Slovakia, then France/Portugal in the QFs. Basically you'd avoid the 2nd of group F to play the 1st of group F a round later, so it'd be a "win" for England if they managed to get second.

Have to play in Copenhagen instead of Wembley though in the Round of 16.
So playing France earlier potentially than winning the group. I mean get a softer last 16 tie (although Spain are still decent if weaker than a decade ago) but that didn't work out well in 2016 either.

England just back to being a quarter final team unless they massively improve you suspect, half the team dosen't look fit for a start.

Southgate is the Ole of international managers. Not tactically astute, picks his favourites game after game even if they're shite and makes subs far too late.

EDIT: Autocorrect.
It’s Ole’s fault !
Give it a break.

Southgate needs sacking. Joke of a manager, playing 2 DM won’t get us anywhere, drop mount into CM with Phillips or rice and play grealish and sancho in the front 4, sancho is one of the most creative players in Europe and he can’t get off the bench. Rashford comes on even though he’s probably still carrying an injury. Football isn’t coming home. #SouthgateOut

How is it possible to talk such complete shite with such confidence, especially when it's something you can find out with google in a few seconds?

Have you considered a career as a Tory MP?

Funny how the Athletic journos were creaming themselves over Southgate after his "spot on" team selection v Criatia. So did Gary Neville on the last episode of the Keno-Richards car show.

Can't see this team beating any of the stronger sides and this is to a large extent on the manager.

Great clean sheet and got the right players starting. Will probably be typical Scotland and lose 2 nil to Croatia but Croatia hardly been great shakes in this tournament and historically Scotland have one of the best records v Croatia since they became independent, don't think they've lost in about 5 games.

Massive underdog playing away from home, desperately need to not lose, not counting the fact it is one of the biggest games Scotland can play internationally, damn right you celebrate it.

You can easily tell who are the Man Utd And England fans. As you have never really experienced what it is like, to be a true underdog

There's alot of disrespect towards Scotland being shown. People acting like San Marino got a point. This is a team full of solid premier League players.

He has always been like that, to the point that I actually want to give him a credit for such level of confidence.
