'Awful' is way too strong, you can surely see that?

Anyway, we have plenty of good options up front and he is one of them. Not sure I would play him but it is hardly ridiculous to do so.
Literally all of the wide options are top players and good enough to play, people are just moaning that Southgate's bias isn't the same as their own

I predict Foden in mounts position, Sterling and Rashford on flanks, maybe Walker/Trippier right back, aprt from that he will pick exactly same side as Scotland match

Oh have a day off, he played well against Croatia and noone did against Scotland. His form this season wasn't that bad either, I saw him in a couple of games towards the end and he was a constant threat.
He was really poor in both, probably the worst player in the Scotland game.

I like Sterling as a player. I think he is the easy scapegoat a lot of the time, but I genuinely think he's been terrible both games

Your whole team was terrible against Scotland, but yeah I also thought he was very poor against Croatia. Kept saying to the company I was in that he should be subbed for Grealish and then of course he scored a goal

I think Saka could be interesting. He’s often been the standout in a dysfunctional Arsenal, he’s capable of making things happen even if everything around him is a little static.

England to play portugal, get destroyed by Bruno who then becomes public enemy #1 in england next season. He then goes on to have a Beckham/CR7 like season. It is known.
If Portugal not careful they may get eliminated.

They need to lose by 3 goals to be worse than Ukraine as the 2nd worst 3rd place side - without even looking at potential results from groups D or E (Croatia or Scotland need a winner for one of them to stay in above Portugal for example, and group E any of them can finish below). I'd say Portugal are barring a shock, through already.

Problem for Portugal is they play france in all likelihood france are better than Germany in attack and also better than Germany in defense.

France has good reason to eliminate Portugal too. It's not a conclusion Portugal will surely qualified though.

Sterling was awful. In both England games.

Portugal are out if they lose and Hungary win.

Surely Southgate needs to use this opportunity to play maybe his most attacking team – the players he might need to play if we need to get a goal against tougher opponents? Would be good to see what we are capable of!

Priority for Southgate is to get out of the group above anything else. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if he played an ultra-defensive team to achieve that.

Funny, I don't remember anyone saying this after the first game.

Maybe it's because he scored the winning goal.
I'm pretty sure i called his performance average and thats only because he scored which he did his best to fluff that chance aswell, a decent goalkeeper probably would have saved it.

The fact is sterling flatters to decieve so much, gets into to good positions then either doesn't have the technique or the footballing intelligence to actually capitalise at the highest level. Infuriating player who should be dropped for sancho or rashford

England already qualified for the next round.
At least Southgate plays Grealish today. But i wouldn't understand why Sancho+Rashford doesn't get a start and a chance in this. Maybe Rashfords form and fitness is still not good enough. But then again you have to ask the question why he went to the Euros then, only to sit on the bench even when Southgate rotates a bit.

Southgate is just so bad. Again Rice and Phillips. Trippier is easily the best RB they have. Starting Saka over Sancho is just shocking, and why does Sterling have to play? Anyway, anyway.

 Seems Mount and Chilwell have the same Twitter intern working for them. He first wrote the tweet for Mount and two minutes later a similar one for Chilwell.

I'd much prefer Sancho on the right, but Saka is still a very good player.

Interested to see Saka. Sterling shouldn't be playing though, Sancho should be instead.

Literally everyone: Start Sancho and Grealish and drop Sterling

Southgate: Sancho doesn't start because of a lack of experience. *Proceeds to play Saka instead and keeps Sterling*

Southgate will have some questions to answer once we go crashing out. Terrible selections and a formation he obviously isn’t comfortable with, he’s looking clueless in all honesty.

What does Sterling need to do to get dropped? He was terrible in 2018 and continued to play.

There's actual talk of Saka starting in place of Foden and not Sancho  Can't make this up.
 For Southgates sake it better work. Maybe it will work out well but is sure isn't based on qualify of the two players and performances.

Miserable WC for Sancho and Rashford. No probem guys. Come home to United and light up OT.

Rashford is an odd one. I thought he was a key player for England or something. Didn't know he was struggling for the NT and unable to get ahead of bloody Saka

According to the media, Southgate is great at "ignoring the noise", so great he'll continue until he's dumped us out of the competition. Useless bent nose cnut.

He has too much competition, hes unlikely to be in the top 2. Bigger chance to play instead of Kane.
