Villa wouldn't be bidding unless there was interest from the players side. I do think he's using them a bit for a new contract, but the status quo has very much changed -- Villa can be very bullish on Arsenal's second biggest youth talent because they're that shite these days. It's a bit mad.

Juventus offered a two-year loan with an obligation to purchase, but Sassuolo want the loan period to be reduced to one year.
Feckin lowball offers from Juve and Italian teams…. We should offer a straight purchase no loan, he gets into our team immediately if he’s anything like his displays in the Euro’s.

He probably wants to play for Juve but we should, or somebody should, bid just to force Juve into spending a bit.

Villa are showing great ambition here trying to sign one of Arsenals most promising young players. Unthinkable even a few years back.
But only because Arsenal didn't have any promising young players a few years back :)

- Deal expected to be agreed this week
- No medical until England are out of the Euros
- Final fee in excess of £77.4m
- Sancho's salary is mentioned as £250k a week with bonuses
- BVB eyeing Madueke as his successor
- A CB being eyed Varane leading target Pau Torres the alternative
- Interest in Rice and Trippier but budget will struggle to stretch that much without sales

As expected, 350k is not the base salary. Would have been mad money for a youngster. Still is.

Villa's bids are the equivalent of Arsenal bidding 20M for Greenwood. What is the point ? They're making themselves look stupid and wasting time looking for a real replacement to Grealish.

Nah because Smith Rowe is an average prospect and Greenwood is an elite talent. Does he even start for you?

Some of you don't maybe remember, but Locatelli actually came from AC Milan, he got debuts there really young showed promise and then stalled at some point and before the current takeover, AC Milan was in shambles and they gave up on him too easily.

Now when it comes to dealing with Juve or Inter, both have really deep squads and some 19-21 olds on verge of getting chances but not really - so adding them to the deals also gives teams such a Sassuolu a chance to get another gem to develop and not have to buy the player themselves.

Smith-Rowe has only got two years left on his contract, though. It'll no doubt be a negotiation tactic from his camp to secure a better contract, but Villa wouldn't be bidding if they hadn't been given some kind of indication that he's considering his options.

It's just a way for clubs to balance the books. Say Sassuolo want €40m for Locatelli, the press say Juve have him on loan for 2 seasons then have to sign him, they'll probably pay €10m loan fee per season and then €20m obligation payment to sign him, everyone wins.
How is that different from a payment structure on a normal deal from an accounting perspective? We aren't paying the Sancho fee in all one hit for example?

Rice & Trippier is probably a £120m+ outlay - that's insane and we can find far better value elsewhere in the search for a much needed CDM & RB.

It has nothing to do with talent, you're missing the point.

If that was the case, and even with 2 years left, you don't get him for 25,30 or 35M. Not a chance.

Yeh, I agree with that. Arbitrary really but how much do you think it'd take for the Arsenal board to consider selling for? £50m odd? That's why from Villa's point of view, selling Grealish even for £100m doesn't really do them much good. Getting in a replacement will be borderline impossible.

I’m sure we can send some of our ‘gems’ their way. Or more to the point just offer hard cash so they can go and buy a player they want.

I’d take the latter if I’m Sassuolu.

Offering talented kids as a makeweight instead of cash will only help Juve build a quality team for pennies, I’m sick of that shiz, they can get ripped off like the rest of us!:wenger:
