The future of gaming.

Fifa will probably go down a similar route, its already a glorified trading card simulator.

Also to make it more mobile compatible?

But yeah, some good nostalgic memories connected to the earlier games of the series but just as with FIFA, it's become a bit of a pointless soulless recycling product.
I feel the football market would be ripe for something new and innovativ but I guess the issue (and costs) of naming rights kill off any potential and investment interests in a new product.

I've been playing Fifa 21 a bit recently as it is on game pass. The gameplay is still far behind even that of PES 2018. Just shows you how little that aspect actually matters to folk.

The gouging will continue to get worse.

I've been playing these for the last 25 years and I have to say the most recent verisons have been mostly horrendous and full of rubbish glitches in gameplay and refereeing. Almost unplayable at times especially against the AI.

I also played a bit online with the last 2 and got sick and tired of playing against knobheads who picked PSG or Bayern for every game will fully assisted controls on. The online aspect would be more fun if they randomised it so that both players got a randomised club with similar ratings amd didn't allow for the use of any assisted controls. I love playing on manual with the shit teams that have one semi decent player, it's more enjoyable to figure out different ways of playing.

Thankfully, I still have a load of the old games for the Ps2, Ps3 and Xbox. I'd probably rather go back to the Master leagues on the 8Mb memory card with Iouga, Valeny, Castolo and Espimas than go into this. Back to the Trad Bricks Stadium or the Mohamed Lewis for some real football.

To be honest, I'm actually interested to see how they work this. I find the idea intriguing and I've been talking about how Fifa should basically do the same. I think Fifa should have done it years ago. Release a game, then each season release a squad update for it and some gameplay tweaks, or whatever, and just continue to support it for years down the line almost like a Destiny type thing (or any other game that follows this model).

Let's be honest, this current model of releasing a brand new game every year and charging full price for what is often minimal tweaks from the previous game, and then making that last game almost obsolete, should die anyway.

To be fair, Fifa already operates as a free-to-play game anyway with the egregious amount of microtransactions in FUT.

Why didn't they do this jump last year then ? Why the blatant lie about a new engine for the current gen of consoles? RIP indeed, I ain't never buying one of their games again.
After destroying the great MGS series, here goes Konami again.

Yeah but you'll have to fork out to get the most interesting modes no ? The gfx have taken a step backwards and surely with this, the gameplay isn't gonna get better. This emphasis on "1 v 1"s... I'm throwing up right now  Too many great souvenirs playing their game as a student and this is the result

Well this has been in the offing for years as Konami have slowly been exiting the gaming industry. I'm just hoping they don't change the core gameplay too much from this year as I've really enjoyed playing it with friends online.

@kouroux do you still play PES much? I remember you posting on evoweb back in the day

I guess the modders will be happy with the traffic they're going to get. Pes 2021 or the generally perceived best PES of the last generation will just be updated yearly now.

Or, like some, they'll just go and play PES 5/6 modded with today's era.

PES 3-5, them were the days
Came here to write this. Those PES games were revolutionary.

I'm sure that FIFA got their shit together(temporarily at least) because they finally had a worthy competitor.

Last game I played was pes 2020 and last game was back in early 2020  I didn't bother with the 2021 update as I hoped they were gonna produce a proper ps5 game so you can imagine the disappointment. Talking about evoweb, I browsed a few pages today after years, the mood is down to say the least. I posted a similar message :(

There are rumours they're going to release a dedicated FUT mode for free to entice more people in to part with their cash on packs.
To hell with them, they're just out to get addicted gamers to pay over and over again.

On the plus side, there's going to be a crossplay patch so if they don't butcher the gameplay maybe it'll finally bring Xbox and PS5 fans together

Edit - Might just be PC vs. consoles. The war continues.

I still play pes5 on the 360 occasionally. Cranky but still hugely enjoyable.

And of course PC master race. What chance do lowly console plebeians have when I'm seeing the game in more FPSes than they've had hot dinners?

It'll be nice to actually find a game without waiting 20 minutes to be paired with the inevitable Russian/Turkish guy who's just going to void the game as soon as you go 3-0 up as well I guess. :wenger:

Master League was the shit. Castolo and Minanda linking up.

Can't remember if it was PES5 or 6 that had the "secret" Nike boots.

I used to put them on every player.
Wow, never knew this. How crafty from Seabass/Konami. :D

btw, it looks like pes6.
