Adriano was always poor for me. Could never get him into the game for my ML side.

Think the best forward for me was Raul.

I don’t think any football game has come close to ISS Pro evolution 2 on the PS1. In terms of feeling like the real thing, football games have devolved over the years, PES included. There’s something about having less animations and fanciness that actually suits the fluidity and responsiveness needed.

And with this all Konami series are officially dead. They now have only two free online games (Yugioh Duel Links and this one) to focus on gathering money from their Microtransaction. Both games will bring them more money than any single player game released anyway.

If anyone needed a proof Konami don't give a shit about developing video games consistently anymore and just view them as waste of money and efforts, this is the one.

I'm honestly just annoyed that Konami had the copy rights to ton of great series and pretty much killed all of them.

Guessing it just wasn’t very profitable? Assuming it’ll be awful now real shame as Fifa honestly just doesn’t cut it as a football game.

Strangely happy that this is the case. I genuinely think within the next couple of years an Indie Developer is going to have a crack at making a football game and they will get it right. They'll say bollocks to all licensing and just make an actual game of football so good that it will bring the modding community to it.

Makes sense. Sports games should never ever cost £60 since the new version is always a rebranded old version with barely any new features. I think they have a decent chance to win some players from FIFA as that crap looks the same as for the last 10 years (of course if they don't feck it up like they usually do).

Edit: just watched the trailer, think they fecked it up again, I expected much more with the new engine...

I'm just surprised that they took 2 years to revamp the game for next gen and it looks only a little better than pes 2021.

Master league and offline modes are rumoured to not even be making a return. Feck me.

You get 9 teams and you have to buy the others....

What a feck you to the fans.

Dumbing a game down to cross platform and play vs mobile users..... :lol:

Still playing ISS Pro Evolution 2 on PS Classic to this day. They recently made Premier League patch so truly I can piss on this new farce from the mountain. Creative video game industry is dead anyway, and from a few good years.

Absolutely classic series. I spent countless hours playing these with friends, particularly PES2-6. Good times. I still have PES6!

I had Adriano and Gilardino as my strikers :cool:

I've never clicked with Fifa games so this is kind of sad of me really :(
He was sluggish. Eto’o on the other hand was a monster. Pace, power and accuracy.

Pour one out for Castolo and Minanda.

The early PES games were the best. PES 3-PES 6 were so much fun to play.

I wonder if other games will eventually go down a very similar route and just do a yearly update rather than release a brand new game every year? e.g. FIFA?

If it's good then this is cool for me. I never bothered spending £60 on a fifa game. Would just get them 2nd hand a year later for £4. Then when mates over have something to play with a few beers

Pavel Nedved from outside the box on any of the early ISS or PES games was an instant goal

PES has been bad since PES 2014 and the new game play engine that came with it. PES 2012/2013 were pretty decent games I thought but its gone downhill ever since.

I wish they could go revamp the whole franchise and go back to PES6 gameplay.

PES2 was the first PES I played. I remember the teams names being so fecking bizarre.

Aragon = United
Europort = Liverpool
Dublin = Villa
Ulster = Celtic
Connacht = Rangers
Lake District = West Ham

Oranges038 banging them in for Aragon at the Trad Brick Stadium.

To be honest, I'm actually interested to see how they work this. I find the idea intriguing and I've been talking about how Fifa should basically do the same. I think Fifa should have done it years ago. Release a game, then each season release a squad update for it and some gameplay tweaks, or whatever, and just continue to support it for years down the line almost like a Destiny type thing (or any other game that follows this model).

Let's be honest, this current model of releasing a brand new game every year and charging full price for what is often minimal tweaks from the previous game, and then making that last game almost obsolete, should die anyway.

To be fair, Fifa already operates as a free-to-play game anyway with the egregious amount of microtransactions in FUT.
How is fifa free to play when the actual game still costs the price of an actual AAA game

Tried it once in the 90's. Like all football (and sports games) - boring as batshit. I played FIFA with my son a few years ago - why bother (the game - not interacting with my son which did have a point)? - kill me now.

Have you played the newer ones? PES fell behind FIFA for a while but imo it got significantly better after a while and is easily better than FIFA

When did people move from calling it ‘Pro Evo’ to ‘PES’. I’ve made the transition myself but cannot understand when, why or how.

Pes has been miles better than FIFA since the 2017 edition. Barring a few unnecessary data pack updates, the core gameplay is excellent. What they needed to do was, work on the presentation and revamping master league, other than obviously improving the gameplay for a next gen jump. Sadly based on the trailer they're more focused on the E side of things now. Even the graphics don't really next gen based on the new snippets

I watched a 10 minute video showing off their new animation engine with freedom to move and dribble as you please and it was honestly laughable. The movements so wooden, the player was strafing away from the ball. Hilariously bad. Such a shame because I really enjoyed 20/21

They will. But you'll have to pay for them, like we've always done. They better have improved ML though, as much as I enjoy the mode, it's more due to the gameplay, and the mode itself needs an overhaul given it's barely changed in ages.

The gameplay could be improved in a number of ways but all modes could be improved massively. My main criticism of it is that it feels so empty. The weekly challenges are pointless with no real rewards. In myClub the challenges are almost always set to amateur with no way of changing the difficulty for improved rewards. It’s a pointless task.

PES5 is the game I played most. I think I have spent thousands of hours on it.

Though I'm disappointed I'm not surprised that they're moving on the franchise now. I think I said earlier in the year that I couldn't see the original format of PES continuing. The fanbase is dwindling while FIFA, even after all the yearly criticism, seems to be expanding primarily due to its offline modes.

I'm not convinced this will bring in a new audience either.
