So is Rio actually a United fan? He came through the West Ham academy and didn't leave until he was 22 so I assumed he was a West Ham fan.
It's surprising that this is the first time you're seeing this. Rio is the biggest muppet of us all & he's one of the most vocal United supporters around, has been for years.

He loves the club(Manchester United).
He would have been Milwall based on locality but we all have seen what years of playing for a club, the captaincy and the support players get, does to them.
You wouldn’t say Carragher and Gerrard are anything but Liverpool fans.

Yeah I've been watching him on YT, and it's clear he's mad about the club.

He's been even papped using United merch long after leaving us.

We got him. Two first XI signings in one window. Another one of these for the midfield and I think we might be contenders.

That's exactly what he does. Nobody in the world is that well connected. It's impossible. And there's nothing wrong with it either. However it's what he does. He follows the right people.

If you are naive enough to believe he's an actual transfer guru who knows the insides of every major club in the world then that's on you.

And let's be frank he didn't get the Sancho stuff right either. He didn't know about the one yr extension at Dortmund last summer when we tried to get him and he got the fee wrong this year.

He's a good source for transfers but not for the reason you think he is.
I'm late but why do people keep saying he's involved in every major transfer for top clubs? I'm 95% sure if you look through his history there will be deals he's not commented on. Also, what use is it for him to provide news about club youth players moving out on loan or whatever? It's clearly him using his sources to boost players in exchange for future info.

Why would he even bother then to credit other journalists? Just to mask the ones he's stealing from?

220k likes and almost 4 million followers compared to...

20k likes and 1.3 million followers.

It's an interesting answer, it doesn't address the point but shows how people mistakenly judge something based on likes and followers.

Considering Fab posted about 4.5 hours earlier, I'd expect this sort of a gap!

Unless something changed Di Marzio is the boss, Romano is one of the minions.
Romano used to work for DM, but he left to go it alone.

DM has had quite a few ‘’misses” since then, he’s obviously not got the patience or desire for social media.

Romano has evolved into the next level of transfer reporting embracing social media.

I'd argue that bringing in Varane slightly mitigates our overriding need for a CDM... but that's just me
Agreed. With the addition of Sancho too, it also mitigates playing Bruno as a #10. Playing him 5-10 yards back in a 3 where he can see more of the pitch and chip in when out of possession. Exciting times ahead.

Didn't Samuel Luckhurst break the Varane news today before Romano? I'm pretty sure he did.

No more so than would've been the case anyway. This will be his 3rd full season as United manager and there has been steady progression up to now. Anything less than a continuation of that would likely result in questions being asked.

I guess it depends what you mean exactly. Realistically I don't think the Glazers act unless we fall out of the top 4 but I think there's real desire from the fans (and to be fair, Ole himself) to seriously challenge for the two major honours and win a trophy.
I mean if he's had all this investment and United end up not winning anything and finishing 2nd or 3rd (but maybe a bit closer to 1st), then does Ole keep his job or go? Sounds like fans might want him out in that scenario but the Glazers wouldn't act?

Have you watched Rio on BT?
Yeah and I just assumed he likes the club because he played for us for so 12 years and didn't think he actually supported United.

He loves the club(Manchester United).
I suppose players must love a club they spent so many years at and end up being a supporter of more than one club.

Who would he want to win in a one off cup final between United and West Ham though? Because 22 years as a West Ham fan before leaving must leave strong feelings and he has probably supported them for years since he left in 2000.

I have seen a lot of Rio muppetry tbf but wasn't sure if he was actually a supporter or just a gleeful ex player that loves the club due to playing for so long here.

Based on their Linkedin they are both working for Sky Italia. I'm in a mood for breaking your collective dreams, I'm pretty sure that Romano is full of it and a mere parrot who likes to tweet and twitch.

If this happens will be fascinating to see the outgoings. Tis a lot of cash, even spread across 5 years. (for Sancho and Varane)

But in terms of addressing squad problems, all hail the Ole-volution. Ol-ution? Rev-Oletion? Ugh.

Yeah due to his playing career we're his team now, he absolutely loves the club
