Why’s Graelish getting dropped for many? He’d play where they plan for Kane…

Oh wow, all signs seemed like they were pointing to him staying. They're in huge trouble financially, maybe they've decided it's just not worth it.

Barca must be saving a fortune without those wages. Sad that it seems so sudden and that he doesn't get to say goodbye to the fans.

PSG should be favourites surely?

They could have sold him last summer to City for 100m, in fact he told them he wants to leave and they kept him. 100m fee plus 50m+ saved on a wages would have bought them Haaland.

Absolute mess.

Barca saying Messi wants to stay and pointing at 'spanish' league... I just don't believe this is genuine.

Not being able to register Messi due to wage cap feels like a proper for a club who wasted ton of money on useless players, each one costed +100m like Griezmann, Coutinho and Dembele without any benefit from them, just to end up not being able to register Messi.

They're a club in which every thing was run wrong and it was bound to bite them in the arse one day.

In shambles? I'd think this is great for Barcelona. It's probably a sportive setback for next season, but it's financially healthy and allows them to properly continue the rebuild of their team, rather than that effort being hamstrung by always having to put Messi first in their plans, which messes up the squad balance and tactics. So I'm with @Blades1889:
Helps make it harder for them to go broke but they'll be horrible on the pitch for a bit. Griezmann, Dembele, Aguero, Memphis all on huge deals in their attack now and not necessarily good or healthy options. Messi played a big part in their revenue but also carried them on the field for ages now. My guess is they're about to go through a Milan style plummet and it's not going to be a quick revive. Lucky for them they have De Jong and Pedri I guess, but they're fecked IMO.

Barcelona’s commitment to the Super League now is a bit more rational. Literally cannot keep Messi without it.

People abuse Barca but seems our fans wouldn't mind driving us off cliff either.

I am absolutely willing to be quoted to the hilt here but he will shit it in the premier league, won't know what's hit him.

This is Barca also playing their card to try and sway at La Liga giving them leeway…..

Given the odds above, staying at Barca would still be my bet.

City or PSG bound.

Would suit PSG a lot more.

He’s a bit of a greedy wee bastard anyway if he wouldn’t take a pay cut at 34 after all the club done for him…

Who wouldn't he replace?

Cavani, Rash, Bruno, Mason. Any of them -- he'd be a massive upgrade.
Yeah I meant which position would he play at. He replaces our current first choice for the position obviously. Would be striker position only in our system.

PSG, he'll go play with Neymar and a few other friends, win a few more trophies and earn a huge payday to end his career in Europe before going back to Argentina/MLS. Messi will never play in the premier league.

If he ends up at City, it just makes any titles they win even more irrelevant. Not that their 10 fans will care

That's insane. Feels like brinkmanship from Barca towards La Liga.

La Liga to cave on their policy in 3.....2......1.....

exactly what I am thinking. I can see him Grealish and the rest of the Man City crew... underperforming this year. You cant buy teamwork and unity .. or throw cash at a team. just my thoughts.

It has to be a bluff, but it's a really desperate and obvious one....

Must be called.

Barcelona simply refusing to sell players to get in line with the rules...

Meanwhile La Liga selling 11% of revenue for 40 years! to CVC. Worst deal in history?

Crazy times.

Imagine every club just said feck off to his wage demands and nobody signed him.

Messi on the dole.
His fanbois kept telling me that he was doing nothing wrong by asking for huge wages at Barcelona, pushing them to the brink of financial ruin.

They said that if Barca don't pay, there will be several clubs to pay even more.

  • Adidas will step in and cover his wages
  • His shirt sales will pay for his wages
  • He generates enough revenue to cover his and Pogba's wages
