if we aren't going to make a move for Trippier, which according to reports won't happen, due to Dalot having a "strong" preseason then we need to go after one of these kids for our CM position.

Camavinga would be ideal but they not want to spend 30m....so why not the young kid from Barcelona who would be half that price

I'm done with you. I need someone with a higher IQ to debate this. None of the other posters would disagree with not signing a player who does not want to be here. When a player is looking to stay in France and sign for PSG, or go to Real Madrid you get a general idea....but not you apparently.

Keep on posting to keep you posts up, damn trying to make any sense.
"Get a general idea..." You mean, "Someone has just pointed out I've pulled this piece of info out of my arse and now I'm trying to find a way out."

No, the player has a PREFERENCE. That isn't the same as NOT WANTING to sign if those other clubs aren't available. Again, it's basic critical thinking. And the way you've delved into the standard juvenile internet "logic," shitty insults, and painfully obvious strawman arguments, I think you now realise your error too. So no, the other posters wouldn't disagree with it, as I wouldn't, if he, or his agent, or any source had actually inferred that he DIDN'T WANT to play for us. No matter how many times you regurgitate it, it doesn't make it true.

Edit: And is that meant to be a dig at my post count? What are you, twelve?

Mate I'm wasting my last post of the day to tell you that every time you go onto the internet to tell someone their IQ is low, your own IQ drops by 10 points. On that basis and that basis alone, everything you have said on this thread is wrong.

"The midfielder has less than a year left on his current contract, and it’s explained that after asking for €100m for their player, Rennes would now be hoping for €50m.

According to FootMercato that figure could end up being a lot lower, given the pressure Rennes are under."

So you're telling me there's a chance???
I think it's club policy now for us not pursue players who aren't sure about coming here. Plus we need to sell at least one player before we buy again. Not happening IMO.

Can you show me something that is credible linking him to us or even wanting to play in England then?
RMC in France have linked him to us and they're a very credible outlet.

And I'm yet to hear/see a direct quote from the player insinuating he doesn't want to play in England.

As wonderfully ruthless as ever; I love it.

It‘s disappointing how many people don’t understand the first sentences of that main paragraph.

I am sure you know the difference between a player saying that he likes the Premier League or even at least mention a few clubs in England and that would go some way to giving a move credibility.
He has not said that he does not want to play in the Swedish league or any other league either but he has said he is flattered by the interest of Real and Bayern and PSG being the biggest club in his own country and the trail would make them much better links than us.
I am just amazed this topic has reached nearly a 100 pages on just liking the player.

I’d hoped this would come to fruition even at the end of the window - but the more you hear, the worse the vibes are. I’m now doubtful that we will get him. Agent pushing for us smacks of financial maximising, and the fact that Cama himself seems so uninterested is a huge turn off. Best we walk away I feel…

He's not gonna say he wants to play in the Swedish league for obvious reasons and the EPL as things stand is the most attractive league in the world due to the competition and the league sells itself. I have no doubt if he's asked about United's interest, he'll give a similar answer to how he responded to the Bayern and Madrid links.

Cristiano Ronaldo when at SCP went on record several times about his dream to play in Spain. Camavinga from my recollection hasn't done similar in a direct way.

I'm glad that we're still keeping tabs on him, but let's hope he chooses us eventually. I'd really like to see how he does with us.
Having just listened to Romano, it seems this move depends on us offloading a player or two, and if we can convince Camavinga that he'll be a important member of the first 11.

Interesting. I'm aware that we need to sell in order to make more purchases, but is he hinting at Camavinga being happy to join us if we make a serious move?

Not really. He wants to be bought into the project and known its best for him it seems.

He says the player is taking his time making a decision because he wants to feel important at a prospective new club and needs convincing of the project going forward.

My interpretation of that is that he (Camavinga) wants to join as a first team player and needs assurances that he will be bought as a player who will be a important first 11 player. Romano also goes on to say that United want to offload a player or two before they can progress the talks.

But listening to Romano, the player will join us if we really push for the move, is the impression I get.

Understood. That's not too bad, then. I guess if we make room in our squad, then there's a chance for us to get him, but that's a (somewhat) big if.

This is as on as it could ever be. He’s obviously a Real supporter and Real were all over this until they crashed. I stopped posting as much in here after I was chatting to someone and they were comparing Camavinga to some hot girl and United to the guy in the friend zone (funny enough but cmon like!) We are a very good destination for him and I think he’ll end up coming.

Ouch, did it touch a nerve? If so this applies to you too. Read the damn conversation and then try and raise a point.

Not that I think this would happen, but Varane, Sancho and Camavinga would be some window

Is this lad ready to come in and get straight into our first 11? Because that's what we absolutely need, If we are to spend such amount of money I'll like to think it'll be for upgrading the starting line up.

:D

It's worrying how often this binary thinking crops up, usually to push the negative.

Correct me if I am wrong, Di Maria was basically pushed out by RM who wanted the money and United were bidding the highest. This isn't anyways comparable to Camavinga. His club would like to keep him and he will only move if he wants to. That and what @ivaldo pointed out that his preference to move somewhere doesn't mean his aversion to move to United.

I'm still not convinced he's going to join us, but I think if we have the funds and a reasonable bid gets accepted, I would be surprised if he turns us down to leave on a free.
