We have fixed 2 glaring holes in our starting 11 so far but I feel if we don’t get a top CDM then it will be the difference between a title challenge and top 4

don't think that is the case at all as we finished second in the league last year with this squad without losing anyone of significance while fixing 2 massive holes in our squad with Sancho and Varane

if we get anything out of Martial this season that is a plus as he was fuking rubbish last year and we should have a healthier Rashford come October. No other club around us has done major improvements with the exception of maybe Chelsea with bringing in Lukaku just to give them a target/focal player up top. City added Grealish, who is quality, but just gives them more depth when they are already 2 deep at most positions.

Arsenal done fuk all, Liverpool done fuk all(and gotten older up top), Spurs done fuk all.....Leicester have probably had the best window sans United.

Now if we add a quality CM that can walk into the starting XI....it's an A+ window and makes us a title contender without question. I still think we are a title contender anyway without adding a CM BUT we have to get something/improvement out of Donny

The thing about last season was while finishing second was a great result and well deserved Liverpool had a mare of a season and Chelsea were 9th when Tuchel took over both finished top 4.
While we have improved no doubt it will be harder to finish top 2 and challenge for the league without a proper CDM IMO. We are close but I still feel we need a bit more

I agree - but I prefer that we sign the right players step by step, rather than signing the best available when OGS doesn't believe he is what we need.
No need to spend £40 million on a player who isn't better than Fred and McTominay - the way I see it now, we are 2-3 players away from an almost complete side where we have true quality in every position. If we don't find the midfielder this season - let's save the money and try to sign him and Haaland next summer.

Think we're looking to offload both Pereira and Lingard before we buy. I reckon there's already a deal in place on the incoming player, especially after Ole's comments.

Would love to see us surprise everyone and sign Ndidi (Leicester already bought Soumare) out of nowhere, obviously not gonna happen though
Hopefully we get some players out and one or two more in after Varane (midefield + Trippier if we can get Dalot out)

I think proof of the state of the transfer market outside of the top clubs is there in the Shaqiri transfer. He is off to Lyon potentially having agreed terms but Lyon are only offering the dippers 6M plus add ons. I know he can be a lazy little feck sometimes but he is 10 times the player Andreas is so that illustrates how tough shifting your deadwood is this summer.
At the same time, it should mean there's a #6 to buy on a snip

Alabama but always Wales in my heart
he's slower footed than Matic.....no thanks
He really isn't and would definitely be an upgrade but to be fair the comment was in response to possible cheap signings. He is running down his contract and Inter are broke so he might be gettable without having to sell players to fund the deal. Would I prefer Ndidi? Feck yeah, but if it is Brozovic or nothing I would definitely take him as he can play the CDM role in a midfield 3, has good control in tight spaces and is a great passer.

Feel United owe us a out-of-the-blue announcement after they dragged out Sancho and Varane such a long time :p
Yeah a Martial style deal that you don't see coming for a midfielder would be nice

Leicester signed Soumare for 18 million.

Its going to be the signing of the season. An absolutely quality player.

Lets not forget Lille won the title this season with him driving the midfield.

How do we miss on these transfers

Brozovic could be had for 20m according to the rumours but he is not sexy enough for some people.
That seems silly considering we could pay for it by say selling Lingard alone and Brozovic would walk into the team, even if only for 2-3 years. He might not be quite at his peak anymore but he's only 28 so I doubt he's past it, and he certainly has more experience as a 6 in big games than anyone we have, and worst case scenario he'd be a great 6 for the what, 25-30 or so games a year we expect to dominate the ball.

I don't believe we will sign anyone else this window. We are so slow in the market, we really need to make some sales but don't see that happening either.

I don't think that's the case at all, my understanding is he's a serial smoker; if true, I think the club are right to stay away from him.

Personally I think the signing of Messi has opened up an opportunity to get one of a number of defensive midfielders at PSG as they need to offload players. My choice would be Leandro Parades, but Danilo Pereira or Idrissa Gueye would also be great options on short-term contracts. I doubt we're getting a midfield signing to be honest as it sounds like we're out of money, but if we can squeeze through a sale (Lingard, I'm looking at you), I think we'd be able to get one of the aforementioned players for a reasonable price.

Leicester are almost unparalleled in the transfer market. To have replaced a player like Fofana as quickly as they have with a quality player like Vestergaard... It's genuinely astonishing how efficient they are.

Shame we aren't signing anyone, could have really gone for it this season. Our midfield is simply too unbalanced at this point. Let's hope we still manage to buy someone like Neves by the end of the window.

Excluding Jones, Grant, and Varane, we already have 25 over 21 years old players. It only makes sense we will need to minimum sell two out of those 25 players first before we sign another one.

The way Ole has spoken before the game of «hopefully one more» and after the game not ruling anythin out (everything else is a bonus) makes me believe they are working hard on something. If you couple that with the rumour that Lingard still might be going to West Ham i am hopeful

Be nice if we had some strong rumours' to go off, but pretty much nothing linking to bringing in a player, just players going out on loan and possibly Jesse being sold.

When he said a third will be a bonus, I didn't take that as a positive - just a very low chance. My take now is we're done.

But who ? Hmm.
I think Ndidi would suit our team well

Not that there’s any suggestion that it could happen.

My best guess would be Lingard leaves, Trippier signs with Lingard money and then Dalot is loaned out again. Probably all in the last week.

Trick found out now.
We plan to reveal this signing for our next game, there will be lots and lots of towels involved and censoring or the team news until he is revealed when he walks behind Captain Maguire.
Since its an away match the hashtag will be #blownaway :nervous:

Ole implied it was unlikely there would be a third signing. He said anything more would be a "bonus". (4:11 in the video)

Seems to me like thats more about managing expectations from the fans. If he comes out and says there will be another signing and it doesn't happen, then you just know people are going to be annoyed.

We're not signing Trippier unless Madrid lowers their price. Regardless of Lingard/Pereira leaving.

don't need Jovic but i'd like to see us honestly get a real #8 box to box player....that isn't Donny or Lingard or Periera so we need to move one of them before we could bring in a guy
