Is he a DM or can he "play there" a la VDB i.e. another season of Matic or McFred in the middle? What we don't want to do is add another similar player to a squad that is already bloated instead of addressing key problem areas.

If he doesn't, then the guy replacing him will, because our current options in midfield are two runners and a static Matic.

I honestly doubt that Ole would play Camavinga, wouldn't even shock me if he was sent out on loan.
Nothing Rennes can do if the player chooses to run down his contract till next year. They also aren't going to bench him even if he stays beyond this window
If Ole wants him and wants the club to sign him, he'll play him in the XI regularly i reckon. AWB, Maguire, Bruno and even James at times are undroppables in his team whom are all his signings
He obviously won't be ready to start for us in the premier league straight away at 18 years old in a crucial position like cdm. Mistakes in that position are very costly, it is not like playing Greenwood on the wing, which is much less risky. It is unrealistic to expect him to go straight into the team, he would be one for the future.

Why would we want this guy? All the reports are that he wants the move to Spain? The club has clearly targeted players that want to play for Man Utd. Also, there is no money left for transfers.
We’ll find the money if the right player is available. Seems quite clear that this guy doesn’t want to join us though, would write this off right now.
From all the reports so far, you would expect that. Unless another club appears out of nowhere.
As much as I want him It’s kind of getting to the stage now where if he doesn’t really want to come here enough to sit down and trash out a deal and he’s not really going to come in and instantly change our midfield this season then let him off. It would be criminal to have to rely on Matic if Fred or Mct get any bad injury though. I don’t know if ole and the coaches are seeing the same thing though, they keep playing him. Camavinga will eventually be an upgrade to one of the starters and that’s good enough for me. Camavinga or Neves. Get it done before the window closes and it’s another building block in place.
Feel like he and McT would be a good partnership. Lot more dynamic than Matic and hopefully not as clumsy on the ball as Fred can be on occasions

I'm a bit indifferent to him right now. I think most of his hype comes from his young age, rather than his actual production, especially since he's been poor in the last season and hasn't really picked it up so far this season (still early obviously), but I'm not as convinced of his eventual success as I was a year ago.
And Maguire and Varane are 30 the following year... so we would need to start thinking about replacements for them......
I think we will end up signing him. Romano thinks it's between PSG and United this summer, with Bayern, Madrid etc positioning themselves for next summer. But Romano along with several French outlets have reported that Camavinga will now move from Rennes and it wouldn't be surprise me to see us sign him. But it also wouldn't surprise me if he ends up at PSG but I'm staying positive.
