Really sad that things always end so horribly. Why do people give people memories if they will just betray them later?

The reports about us having to sell before we buy must be legitimate. Can't understand why we're sitting back and watching a player United fans adore go to our rivals.
Yankee leech scumbags have got their star players so no more this summer and due to poor planning we have to sell

This is not surprising at all to me, it's Ronaldo through and through.

He'll always be a great player in my eyes, and one of MUFC's greatest ever in the PL. But unfortunately not a club legend, the minimum level of loyalty just isn't there.

I think back to all the fans here waxing lyrical about Giggs, Ronaldo, Rooney.. as well as fans of other clubs thinking about Lampard, Henry, RVP.. and the mindset is still rooted in the 80s when there wasn't much choice for players before the Bosman. The romanticism around Mes Que Un Club and all that rubbish about history.. everyone's trying to make football larger than life. Of course, I understand the passion. But don't worship footballers.

Hoping that’s where he ends up, would be a spectacle to see him and messi play together.

Cant see either player being too happy about sharing the limelight though.
Ronaldo isn't brave enough to go to PSG to be Messis sub. Ronaldo wouldn't accept a lesser wage, a lesser role, a lesser crowd welcome. He is insignificant.

No I hate it because they'll walk the league with him

Might even win the CL with the service he'll be getting there coming off his Juve stint where he ended up with the highest goal per game ratio in Serie A history in a squad starved of creativity.

I'm sick precisely because it pushes City over the top the same way Kane would have but the difference is that it likely pushes them over the top in Europe as well instead of just in the Premier League
Not sure. Aguero was shunted aside due to the fact that he didn't have the work rate to fit into Peps team and system. Ronaldo ain't giving you that. He'll score goals, but City absolutely shit goals now. His move to Juve was an unsuccessful one. They were already pissing the league without him. He came in, scored some goals, they win the league, but then don't win it last year. He was brought in to win the Champions League which they now look further away from winning than ever.

He also broke their financial structure while he was there and became a burden.

I'm just not seeing it. I don't see him fitting in, to the extent that they go on and win the lot.

Could be wildly wrong, obviously!

Just three years ago, Real Madrid and Barcelona had won 5 UCLs in succession, had Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Real Madrid is by far the biggest club in football history. I hate them, but that's the truth.
Agree, Madrid is the biggest club of all time, by a country mile.

Its all history though. The guy is suggesting that young fans are only interested in clubs winning right now and in the future. A six year old wont remember what happened three years ago. Madrid and Barca right now are weaker than I can remember and are competing against privately owned clubs that have access to vast resources. Plus La Liga is struggling to compete with the Premier League. Its why they are so desperate for the Super League.

Cavani is 2 years younger though. A pup.
Cavani missed over 50 games to injury over the last 3 seasons. Cristiano missed less than 10

Age is a number, what matters is how the body is holding up. Cavani's body is not, he has maybe 25 games at a top level in him over a season. Cristiano's body has over 40

City would basically be getting 18/19 Aguero

Seen some absolute fecking drivel posted in here. People need to realise he has no loyalty towards United and never had, he used us as a stepping stone.

People saying he's bigger than MUFC, well I've seen some awful opinions on here but that tops the lot.

Will be a massive signing for them, if nothing else for shirt/ticket sales. Wonder where he'll fit in though...

Actually Ronaldo to City doesn't really bother me. In a lot of ways it could be a good thing for football... eventually. The faster and more aggressively the oil clubs stock up all of football's crown jewels the more it highlights the ridiculousness and unsustainability of the situation. You'd hope eventually enough people would become fed up with the sport being hijacked by nation States and there might be a push to do something about it.
This. Messi going to PSG and Ronaldo going to City would be awful for football in the short term but it might force things to change a lot faster than they would have.

Well speaking as a City fan, no, I don’t want him.
I’m not knocking him as a player but I wouldn’t want him in a City shirt and that’s got nothing to do with him playing for Utd 12 years ago and everything to do with the **** of Ronaldo that follows him around.
I think it’d be a distraction to the rest of our squad and I’d much rather have a younger, less famous but more of a team player like Martinez for instance.

If we do get him then I’ll give him my support but I don’t even want to dwell on that right now because it’s a lovely sunny day and not deserving of uncomfortable considerations.

btw I didn’t want Kane either, he’s a prolific scorer of PL goals but just soo boring.
Yes we don't get enough days like this in Manchester so lets not let Ronaldo ruin it!

I agree on Kane btw, don't think he was right for City

Does he play more as a centre forward these days? City are already well stocked for wingers so I imagine he'll play straight down the middle?

He'll get one hell of a bad reception at OT unlike back in 2013. He'll deserve it too.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
To me its a bit more like Schmeichel and Cole (player going there at the end of their career after being really good for us earlier) than a tevez or Hargreaves type deal where there seemed to be some bad blood
Agreed. Ronaldo wants to leave Juventus (and who can blame him since they have been getting progressively worse) and unfortunately City are probably the only club who will buy him. It sounds like a strange thing to say about a player who has a claim of being the GOAT, but he's 36 and what other club would pay the transfer fee and his wages? It's probably a straight choice between a declining Juve and City. I do think that if any other top club gave him a similar option (other than Barca of course) he would take it instead.

If it happens it'll definitely piss me off and will somewhat hurt his legacy with us, but it doesn't feel like he's actively choosing them or something so I won't really 'hate' him.

I can't see him and pep working well together. I'm probably gonna be wrong, but I don't think they'll be good together
There's no doubt with the style of their play and chances they create he will get a lot of tap ins.

Gonna be some dodgy PR spin necessary if they sign him off the heels of this nasty Mendy business given his own history...

Of course the bought for UK press will surely gleefully gloss over it to wax lyrical of the paragon of virtue club that is Man City like they always do

As a Ronaldo fan I will absolutely lose respect for the guy. I understand that he doesn't have many other options and probably wants to win something major before he retires but you dont go to city.

Give Juventus Martial,
Cavani gets the Number 9 Shirt,
We regain CR7.

Or he fecks off to the States. He will be hated by many if he moves to any Prem rival, especially City.

This.
Fans get so obsessed with players. They are just people earning a living. If I was a player who played for a European club I wouldn't give a crap about going to their rivals. Fans are fans, they all sing and cheer the same. Don't make a difference to a player.

Unless you were born and supported the club as a kid (Gary Neville) then I can understand it.

This day gets even worse. First McTominay needs surgery and then Ronnie is joining City. Thought it ended there, but it gets even worse. Turns out Sir Alex himself has had enough.

If he goes to ManCity his status will fall a bit but he will still be adored by us. He knows where his home is.

It is like Peter Schmeichel when he made a slightly misstake by joining ManCity. Even if this is on higher fame level.

There goes United's season in the league this season. Have to go again next season.

Pep is certainly very obstinate in getting a top striker in this season.
