If Ronaldo has any humanity left in him he'll choose us over City even if we pay him less. And I say that without even considering his history here. City are simply such cnuts.

City fan here - would you guys actually want to sign Ronaldo if he wasn't linked with City?

It feels like you're already loaded with players up top, and have a like-for-like stop gap goal scorer in Cavani already at the club. I can't see the sense in you signing him from a footballing stand point, who doesn't play to shoehorn him in?

City clearly just need someone to finish off the chances created and put it in the net, Ronaldo ticks that box for us.

Either way, comical transfer window so far.
Fair question.

Fukking hell yes. Martial is not even a shadow of Ronaldo, Cavani is brilliant but injury prone. Greenwood is one for the future. Rashford is fantastic but will never be in the same league as Ronaldo is today. James is a kick and run merchant. Mata is washed up. Diallo has only played a few minutes for us.

Ronaldo is arguably still the top footballer on the planet.

Edit: Sancho, fantastic signing.

This is United with huge expectations, we can’t just sign players for the future you have to also sign players who are ready now and can give us a chance of competing for major trophies.

We can do both, build for the future and make signings for players who are going to perform at the top level now. We have signed Van de Beek, pellestri, Diallo and sancho all of who are under 25 with an eye on the future. Both the signings of varane and ronaldo give us the quality we need to compete now.

people comparing ronaldo to Sanchez is ludicrous. It’s ronaldo fgs.

This just screams as the club wanting to flex our financial muscles and get one over on City again. Worked out really badly in the past, let's hope that doesn't happen again.

A CF is very much needed
Yeah but surely the whole plan was to have a final year of Cavani and then go for Haaland next summer? Now we'll potentially have a 37 year old Ronaldo next season which means we likely wouldn't go for anyone else.

how does it rule us out of Halaand next season?
Because Ronaldo will sign for 2-3 years at a very high wage. How do you convince Haaland to join when Sancho is on the right, Rashford is on the left and CR7 is at striker? Do you think Haaland joins to be a part time striker? Do the Glaziers pay CR7’s huge wages and add Haaland’s reported £800k/week as well?

Simply, with CR7, there’s no room in the starting lineup nor the wage bill.

Guys, what if this is a counter PR by United to show fans we were actually in for him and he decided to move to City anyway? Ronaldo would be the undisputed villain for United fans.

Calling Cavani and Ronaldo like for like is comical actuallly. Cavani in his best year doesnt match ronaldos worst in terms of goals/assists.

United should be all in if available and espescialy if a rival wants to sign him

Mendes and Ronaldo trolling United into signing him by threatening to go to City. Well played.

I thought I read Juventus wanted a transfer fee which City wouldn't pay. Now the rumor is United want to sign and will pay a transfer fee but Juventus want Pogba?
One heck of a play. But I don't think anyone with any soul would be disappointed with this outcome.

I don't see this coming off, at all.

I can see why the club have made a move, and it's nothing to do with City. They're probably massively concerned with the amount of games Cavani will miss this season. Ronaldo is a winner and a leader made of the same cloth. And he's available. Can't be going into the season relying on Martial up top.

But like I said, I just don't see it happening.

Awful signing?
Martial is in woeful form, Cavani seems to not have his mind here, Rashford is out for 3months and not a proper central striker anyway.
Greenwood is still ...green!
You what? Stacked with forwards?
Greenwood
Cavani
Rashford
Sancho
Martial
James
Pogba
Lingard
Elanga

All can/have/could play off the LWF or CF.

Its a nonsense signing. It potentially stops minutes for younger players and wastes money better served being put towards a CM.

Why didn't you sign Lukaku then? Instead you put your hopes on Charlie fecking Kane..
Don't ask me, I'm not on the board!

Clearly City felt Kane was achievable, by the time he wasn't Lukaku was already at Chelsea.

The real question is why didn't City or Chelsea go for Haaland, the answer that seems most likely is he's already decided his next move next year, be that Bayern/Real/United seeming the most obvious choices.
