They have a nice run of fixtures coming up: Norwich, Burnley, Spurs, Brighton, Palace, Villa, Leicester, Watford.

Yet with Arteta in charge any of those teams could beat them without surprise.

If they can get White they could have got any of Tarkowski, Coady, Mings, Keane, Zouma, Vestergaard etc.

None of them would set the world alight but they'd all have been shrewder deals than £50m for a CB who isn't even 6 ft.

Also could have not shifted Saliba away to Marseille for the sake of Mari. There's no way Saliba is any worse.
I agree, I think Vestergaard would have been a smart one. A big lad, and decent on the ball. Would have brought some presence to that back line.

My main issue with Arteta is he needed to be very shrewd in this summer's market. He has had a bit to spend. It's probably the first time they've had a real sustained outlay on his watch. At this point it looks a bit naive in failing to protect his own position and demand immediate results, whether that's his choice or Edu's direction I'm not sure.

Because not much is expected from White and Lokonga this season, and Ramsdale isn't going to set the place alight either. Then they've signed a guy they already had the benefit of using last year in Odegaard, another one we may see the best of in 1-2 years.

He wont get sacked before october, but I just don't see how he can make Arsenal competitive again. The dressing room must be beyond gloomy now.

I know many wouldnt admit it but i wonder how many Arsenal fans would turn back the clock and not sack Wenger, if they could.

Honetly never understood their feelings towards Wenger. Yes he was stubborn at times, yes he seemed reluctant to spend money at times, but he had them challenging on all fronts, while also playing some nice football.
8 of that starting XI were signed or given their debuts by Wenger!

Pretty sad how Arsenal have allowed themselves to accept mediocrity. The Arsenal fans here for some reason come across as hopeful and optimistic about having such a bang average nothing manager at the helm of what is one of England's biggest football clubs. They spend a lot of money, but I can't tell you the last signing that made me go 'theyve got quite a player there' because their whole mentality as a football club encourages mediocrity. Arteta should never been allowed to push this project agenda over there where he spends loads of money of nothing players and lowers their expectations as a club to meet his own level.

Surely he’s got to go. This team has zero fight.
Yup. They don't play pretty football. They don't sign any players that demand you take notice. And they aren't even well organised. Not seeing the point of this manager and what he brings to the table.

Zero shots on target, zero corners, 19% possession, lost 5-0.

How hasn't this man been fired?

Patterns of play or something.

Trash manager in charge of a club that have clueless DoF and greedy owners. They are in big trouble, and while nothing can be done about the owners, they can get a better DoF and a better manager, and the longer this farce continues the harder it will be to get back up for the club.

Already they have been surpassed by Chelsea and Spurs in London, now West Ham are looking stronger as well.

He says there are a lot of things going on behind the scenes which would change everyone's perspective on everything.
Like what would that be?

His match selections, transfer dealings, everything about him is subpar, just don't see what he brings to that team.

Chambers - Kolasinac - Elneny

How the hell are these guys still at the club? They have proven to be below average ages ago. That's like United starting the likes of Darmian and Rojo in 2021.

arteta shows me the difference between him and a manager like Ole.

money difference sure - but still Ole is not a PE teacher.

The way he has reshaped United from Jose and Van Gaal times is class.

Played 3, lost 3, conceded 9, scored 0.

Be amazing if that isn't enough to get him the sack.

There's quite an exciting team in there somewhere if everyone was fit.

Leno
White Gabriel Tierney
Saka Partay Lokonga Navares
Odegaard ESR
Aubameyang

Artets has to go surely although I hope he doesn't. Complete fraud of a manager. He should know Pep more than anyone.

It would actually be very poetic if he got sacked after today.

He was signed after Arsenal got spanked 8-2 by Manchester United on the 28th August 2011, and would be sacked after Arsenal got spanked 6-0 by Manchester City on the 28th August 2021, exactly 10 years later.
