This will end up 4-1. Salah will complete his hat trick and Atkinson with a last minute screamer from outside the box.
the ref decided it so he's right then? What a stupid take. Its right cos that was what was decided. There’s a follow through by his arm though. It wasn’t a reactionary thing, he was purposely keeping the ball out with his arm. He definitely knew what he was doing which is why he’s off.
Initial contact may have been accidental but he clearly deliberately swipes the ball away after that.Disgraceful decision. No sane person can see that as a deliberate hand ball. Liverpool handed a win here.
Don't agree, Salah on the other hand deliberately hammered the ball away and showed contempt according to the book that is a yellow. If you are going to use the book it has to go both ways. Never a red cardIt was deliberate, he actively moved his hand.
The double jeopardy rule correction (which only came a couple years ago) was to stop this exact situation. Think the ref has had a mare. Jaimie Redknapp at HT is equally clueless, clearly unaware of this. That's the way I saw it - the movement of the arm seemed to come after the ball had hit it, a pen is fair enough for me as it stopped a goal but the red was too much for me.
Let's hope it stays a draw though.
Atkinson has been in awful form. Needs the confidence. This will end up 4-1. Salah will complete his hat trick and Atkinson with a last minute screamer from outside the box.
That he needed to clear it.Why did Alonso head the ball out of Mendy hand?
What was he thinking?
I think the stupid take is what you just took from my post.the ref decided it so he's right then? What a stupid take. Its right cos that was what was decided.
the video is slowed down and its a split second reaction after the ball deflects
Whats he meant to do? retract his arm??
Doesn’t matter. You don’t just get to uppercut the ball because it hit your leg first. It was deliberate, it came off his knee.
Mendy didn't get the card just for the kick. He was warned by the ref for being in Salah's face on the spot. Any more infractions and it will be a card. 2 minutes later he kicks the ball at Hendo leading to an unnecessary fracas. Cause of it? Mendy.Salah kicked the ball away but no card but Mendy booked for the same. Liverpool getting all the crucial decision
It’s not subtle, it’s clear as day with a follow through! The double jeopardy rule correction (which only came a couple years ago) was to stop this exact situation. Think the ref has had a mare. Jaimie Redknapp at HT is equally clueless, clearly unaware of this.
The rule says something like this - the 'double jeopardy' rule, which prevents two punishments of the player being sent off and a penalty being given if it is an accidental challenge, should have come into effect. ... the offending player must be sent off. '
^ This wasn't a challenge, but it was a penalty because of the hand ball. I feel the handball was accidental because it was instinctive and it rolled up to his arm. That slight extension of James' arm was far too subtle to insinuate a straight red.
I am watching this, Taylor looked at a still picture off the full scene. It clearly hit his thigh first before hitting the arm.Rewatch it you’ll see he moved it forward, and the ball was going in otherwise. Just watch how far his hand moves. The ref didn’t even need to look at it in fairness. The VAR team told him, he just wanted confirmation.
Yes that is literally what he is meant to do.the ref decided it so he's right then? What a stupid take. Its right cos that was what was decided.
the video is slowed down and its a split second reaction after the ball deflects
Whats he meant to do? retract his arm??
Yeah I agree. After it hits his leg he moves his arm out to make sure it doesn’t go in.Guys from Watching it again. He literally scoops the ball. The ref has to give a red
Not move his arm. Lots of times it just bounces onto an arm that’s held close to the body. He moved it to swat it away. What the hell can he do about a ball bouncing off his knee onto his arm in a split second?
Salah getting penalised for a foul then telling the linesman to feck off, booting the ball away and giving the referee some mouth afterwards is about as picture perfect an example of dissent you could possibly ask for.So mendy gets a yellow for kicking the ball , salah does the same earlier in the half and gets nothing.
I can't look at that and say the motion of his arm is only linked to his knee coming up. He's just panicked and is flicking his knee up, leaning into it, anything he can do. I would personally say it's clearly an unnatural movement. No, he brought his arm towards his body as he was kneeing it. The alternative is moving your arm outside, which you don't do because then it'll be penalty if it hits your arm. What else was he supposed to do with his arm? It was a penalty but he was instinctively trying to bring his arm closer to his body.
Huh, the ball was totally going in if he hadn't used his arm.Funny thing about that is if James doesn't make that movement the ball wouldn't have gone in anyway.
Still not 100% sure if he's doing that to move the ball or just as way to balance himself... But its probably the former?
