Btw, how expensive do you think camavinga's gonna be anyways...€30/40M transfer including agent fees, plus at most €10M/Y gross in wages, for 6 years is about €17M a year cost...that's not that expensive...basically Isco's wages, which are coming off the books next year. Think we might try to sell Ceballos in January. Possibly Asensio as well if he doesn't convince in midfield

If I was PSG I would just take the money. But is it a wise move for Mbappe? He'll probably struggle to win trophies in the next few years or so with Madrid rebuilding and all.
Not many are gonna pass up the opportunity of playing alongside Neymar and Messi. If he keeps to his word and forces Real to pay 180M next season, I'd be thoroughly impressed.
PSG will not sell him if he signs a long term contract. They are the hardest club in the world to buy a player from. No shot even with a 'gentleman's agreement' they agree to sell him if he signs an extension.
He has to go for free if he's going to leave at this point.
A release clause in any extension should suffice. As long as his agent isn't Kane's brother he should be fine either way.

PSG shooting themselves in the foot long term with this. Big players are going to think twice before coming to the golden cage. And the ones that come will do so for the biggest, fattest cheque they can get. Not exactly a recipe for a good club atmosphere.
I don't think so. Big players are also very much interested in big wages so PSG will always be able to attract the biggest stars
People said that about the Veratti case, the issue is Veratti is very happy in Paris, and we got big players that have come afterwards. It's very simple, you want to leave PSG and they want to keep you? Don't sign the extension. Mbappe is free to leave soon, Neymar could have done the same. There's no golden cage.

PSG is one club than can offer you all as a player, the wages, titles, competing in the CL every year, and a guarantee of investment into the squad each year.
The biggest let down is probably the league competition each year. It really does seem that if you don't win the CL, you're not seen as successful. That monkey off the back is a hard one to shift off, unfortunately.
Yeah, that will never shift as long as the league remains as is and it's hard to see how it steps out of that when it gets picked clean by the richer leagues anytime a team outside of PSG gets a decent squad. It is all about the CL at this point for PSG, I guess not too dissimilar from Bayern Munich even if they do get some challenges every now and then until they weaken their direct opponents by taking their best players.

My mistake then. Tbh there is no other reason to go to PSG other than money, no self respected footballer goes there for the competition or for the football.
That was my point. And there's nothing wrong with wanting to earn more money considering their short careers and lack of prospects elsewhere in life, but you're not necessarily going to be the prime target for hungry, hugely competitive players in their prime.

They don't live in the same reality. They genuinely believe they can just throw more money at anything and it will be resolved.
Will this change over time though? The worry for me with the plastic clubs is that time and a few CL wins buys legitimacy.

Unless there is a real and consistent level up of teams like Monaco/Marseille/Lyon then no the situation will stay the same. Nothing to change in the foreseeable future.
PSG is in such a league of its own, you have their opponents taking pictures of their babies with Messi holding them. The entire Reims supporters were cheering for Messi when he was warming up and for every single one of his touches when he played
No, they're still in the French league where there's very little competition. City have at least 4 clubs close to or greater than their level and will continue to have them. PSG have no challengers in the domestic league over a sustained period of time.
And even City with all it's success and Guardiola appeal still look fragile to me. If Abu Dhabi reins in the spending it could all come to a halt.
That’s how Qatar has generally approached all of their problems (including non football ones)… throw more money at it. They’re especially not keen on any chance of losing face this year since the World Cup is coming.
That kinda happened over last few years, no? This summer City's net spend is £60m and still have few players they'd like to sell, two previous seasons it was £70-80m and under £20m the year before that. Even with Kane, they had to sell 1 or 2 first-team players.
Yeah but the wage bill is still astronomical. They basically have 2 XI's. No other big club in Europe does that. Bayern, Madrid and even us have to sometime put some home grown youngsters to fill in the squad .
