I reckon Pogba signs his contract now.

Always said Pogba wants to see a team that competes and wins. He hasn't really had that since he resigned.

With Amad going on loan it stands to reason first teamers will have been disappointed with these signings of potential when the first team need addressing.

Rooney did similar when he wanted assurances. With City and liverpool being how they are and no real progress on the trophy front I can understand why a player might look to go elsewhere in which could be the last big contract of his career.

The signings this season are a statement of intent imo and I can see Pogba staying.

I think Pogba will probably sign a new contract now but I also think the decision should be made to revert him back into CM alongside Matic, Fred or McT. I know it’s not his preferred position but needs must and we need him sitting behind whatever lethal combo of Ronaldo, Cavani, Sancho, Rashford or Greenwood is on the pitch. We’ve got so many top forwards now, we really should be trying to get as many of them on the pitch at the same time with Pogba providing the ammo.

Mbappe wants to leave when they have Messi. He can easily join Real Madrid in 2-3 years if he wanted to as he is still young.

still think Pogba will leave

Pogba, who is very social media savvy, has been the only significant Utd player who has been silent on Ronaldo. Probably means he is off.

I hope playing him at CM wont put him off extending his contract, especially after seeing what he can do further up.

No contract (extension) now, means he leaves on a free to get a fat signing fee :(
Nobody really expected him to extend now, there was no reason for him to, but he can still sign a new deal with us. Probably depends on us showing progress by Christmas++ with getting closer to winning things, and likely offering him a loyalty bonus close to what he could get as sign-on from others.

I'm okay with him leaving, actually. We are stacked in attack.

He's a midfielder who can't play in our midfield, and unbalances our team when he does play there, so I'm open to seeing him leave us, as long as we get in two new midfielders to give us balance.

So what's the latest news on Pogba situation? A few weeks ago there were "just details", we're well in the season, transfer window has ended. People still think he'll extend?
I cannot see Pogba being at United this time next year.

The club has just changed the big team poster above the megastore to include Cristiano Ronaldo. However, they still haven't included Pogba.

To me that says a lot about what the club expects to happen with Pogba.

In previous seasons it has pushed Pogba hard in marketing. This season, pretty much nothing. The club is, from my perspective, pretty obviously planning for life without Paul. I actually think part of what convinced them to do the Ronaldo deal was that Ronaldo is a bigger star than Pogba. Therefore commercial partners won't be concerned if Pogba leaves because they can just use Ronaldo to sell their goods to United fans.

If Pogba signed a new contract I would be gobsmacked. All the signs are pointing to an exit. Even Raiola is keeping quiet. He doesn't have to make a song and dance anymore. Everyone knows this is coming to an end and they're just waiting.

Pogba has made it abundantly clear in every interview and even in his last interview with Carruthers - he will sign a contract if the club wins trophies and actively challenges for titles. It's obvious he likes the club and would want to stay, but at the same time doesn't want to waste his career playing for nothing and I can understand that.

Then again I wouldn't be too bothered if he leaves. He's an amazing player when he can be assed to produce, but half the time he plays he is a passenger. We need leaders like Bruno who would take the horse by the reins rather than wait for things to happen like Pogba is. My only problem remains that due to the club being run by idiots and not signing this transfer window a DM, the next one we're gonna have to replace Pogba and get a DM. And a DM this season could actually be the make-or-break our season and therefore - Pogba staying or leaving.

Anyway, what's done is done. Pogba is replaceable, someone like Bruno is not. So I'm not worried. But the club should start behaving like a real club and not a joke and stop offering contracts to guys like Lingard and Phil Jones because that type of thing leaves me worried, not Pogba leaving.

I think it is fair enough. We just hope he plays his heart out this season to win some and sign a new contract with us at the end of the season.

So how come Pogba doesn't feature on the new stadium design for the East stand? Not sure if he was on it before they re-worked it to include Ronaldo...?

Perhaps the club doesn't plan the keep this graphic in place beyond this season, as Cavani can be seen towards the back on the right hand side, and he's almost guaranteed not to be here next season.

They would change it anyway when the new kits are revealed. But yes, I expect United will wind down on promoting Pogba unless he makes a u-turn.

As good a player as he is, if or when Pogba leaves I don't think we'll need to replace him like for like in the transfer market.

We just have to fill that number 6 position with a new signing and then Mctominay, Fred, Vdb and Mejbri can all play in the 8.

Here's how the pool of first team midfield players can look like if or when Pogba leaves:

6: NEW SIGNING, Galbraith, Garner, Fred, Levitt
8: Mctominay, Vdb, Fred, Mejbri, Garner, Levitt
10: Fernandes, Vdb, Mejbri

In total 9 players for 3 positions. So Levitt, Garner and Galbraith might go out on loan again.

I really don't see the need for more than one midfield signing. Just sign a CDM/DLP and then focus on other areas such as a back-up RB and Haaland if possible.

Honestly still not bothered either way, still prefer he goes. He's not a leader and needs an entire squad built around him to get the best out of him. Not once since his return, when things were bad & we needed him most, was he ever the leader and player on the pitch we needed. Now, when things are looking better than ever since SAF retired, he's performing consistently. The living definition of a luxury player.

I also want rid of all Raiola players and would wish the club never to do business with him again. I'm ok with missing out on Haaland; there are other talents out there.

Personally all will depend whether we win/challenge for the major trophies this season. The team he's playing in right now is a stark contrast to some he's been in since his arrival and surely he can see the development and rebuild around him. Should we get close to the ucl (final or semi) and finish 2nd by a whisker it could be 5050 he stays in summer. If we don't challenge he'll go. If we win either I can see him staying.

Although I do like Pogba, I agree with you 100%. Rashford/Sancho/Greenwood can take his spot on the left wing.
Will sign for psg on 1st January
More likely to be Madrid IMO.

If we don't win anything this season then he will be off to madrid to win trophies. If we win the league or CL then he can say i helped deliver CL/PL to Utd for the first time since year x. Im off to madrid now. Regardless i think hes going to madrid.

His form so far reminds me of what Ronaldo and Suarez did the seasons before they left for Madrid and Barcelona. Basically played out of their skins to try deliver a major trophy before they went.

Which is fine right? If he leaves after helping Utd to a trophy, would anyone be upset.

Pogba doesn't need replacing? Man, I would like to smoke the same thing which you guys are smoking. It would be a huge loss and I don't think there is a like to like replacement in world football now.

Yes. People were upset with Ronaldo. Personally I wouldn't grudge him, a section of the fanbase make it known he isn't welcome and that's gotta grate.

I like Pogba too, but if he does leave it doesn't have to be major issue, paradoxically. Maybe he'll want to stay now with Varane and Ronaldo at the club though.

I wonder how much PSG would be willing to pay for Pogba given their need to try to offset a presumably upset fan base. It would be as much a pr driven bid as a football based one, so they will hopefully overpay to soothe their fans.

£70m?

If so, that would pay for a quick rebuild, with Trippier and Neves paid for in full, with enough left over to pay for the majority of a young CDM to grow into Neves’ partner in January (not enough time to get 3 deals done)
Uhh...what?

He has started the reason really well, it has slightly increased my enthusiasm for this new contract because when he's this creative you can accept some of the flaws. However that's always a slight danger, just hope he wouldn't go off the boil as soon as he signs it, if he indeed does sign it.

There is so much talk about how Pogba is a square peg in a round hole at United, he must think about it a lot himself, he can't be oblivious to it. I think trophies, money and playing in another country/for another big team are all factors in how Pogba weighs up his next move, but a big part of it must also be that he wants to play in a team where his role is clearly defined and he feels he can show his best. I can't really fault him for that, it's mutual on our side too: when you've had a player for 5 years and still don't know exactly how to play him, then it's probably best for all concerned that there is a parting of the ways. The Bosman thing will be a shame but I think if Covid hadn't happened Pogba would have been happy to leave earlier for a fee. I'll wish him the best. I don't see him extending his contract here even though the team is in its best shape since he joined.

Considering we have 11 goals so far 7 assist is amazing! He has probably been involved as the second assist in a couple also... don't count I know but it show involvement. Let's hope he can keep showing those numbers for some time!

However last year ended with 3 assist and 3 goals in 26 games. That is not good enough for a player with his ability in my book. And I do understand doubters considering last year. Would be amazing if Ole could find a perfect partner to Pogba in the middle, and succeed in signing him on for another 4 years.
I do not think Pogba want to sign on for more years with Manchester U, and I don't think Ole is going to replace him if he goes.
