Will Liverpool ever lose a home league game again under Klopp?

How would Milner going off with 15 mins left have changed the scoreline? We would have gone ultra defensive like Chelsea when they had 10 men for a whole half. Our naive long ball attack and pushing up Gomez was what cost us goals. That wouldn't have happened with 10 men.
The second yellow offence by Milner was before Salah's goal.

In any event Milner should have seen red for his foul on Foden in the first half. He denied a clear goal scoring opportunity whilst making no attempt to play the ball. That both the referee and the VAR officials deemed there to be no foul is laughable. Incompetent or corruption? I really don't know.

Properly refereed it's hard to see how Liverpool do any better than a draw in this game with the liklihood that it's a win for City.

You should be grateful to the officials.

Weird that Milner was not sent off for another of his blatant fouls.
Weird that Liverpool and Klopp are the honey bunnies of refs, media and FA.
Makes one think what may be going on in the background.
Just thinking.

Come back and ask when we've got 14 penalties in a season. :p

What a baseless comment.
We could have had many more than 14 but Klopp stopped them coming our way.
I also remember Salah, Mane, Firmino etc falling like olympic divers and getting many penalties which should not have been given.
Milner dear Milner - loved by all referees.

I'll try to address your points:

1. The foul was before Salah's goal. So it would have ended 1-1 instead of 2-2 because we would have battened down the hatches, ala Chelsea. That's what I implied but maybe you missed the point I clearly made.

2. Milner red card. If that's a red with Foden heading away from the goal net then we should all just start a super league. Football's dead.

3. The ref missed the foul which was a freekick just outside the penalty area.

4. VAR cannot intervene because there was no foul inside the penalty area. The ref made a mistake outside, so VAR can't tell him to over turn it.

I hope some of this helps your understanding of football and enhances your enjoyment of watching the game going forwards. I've already said City deserved the win and were unlucky. Officials wouldn't have changed the result but KdB burying that header would have.

And Cancelo ridiculously had yellow card given before Mane's goal.
I think that's why Salah could dribble pass him easily.

Not going to engage with you any further after this. Why would I waste my time when you are so insulting and clearly wrong.

1. Foden was not running away from goal - what a very strange thing to say.
2. There was contact outside the area but he was brought down inside the box
3. Either way he was denied a clear goal scoring opportunity and Milner made no attempt to play the ball - red card

I do agree though that KDB should have buried that header. He had a very poor game imo.

Try taking your LFC bias away you might understand the game better.

After 7 games, come back in another 7 and you'll have something to talk about.

How would Milner going off not change the scoreline? City would've gone ultra offensive like Chelsea did when they played against 10 man Southampton and scored 2 goals in the last 5min, because apparently whatever Chelsea has done will be replicated by another team in another game because reasons.

I hate to say this to someone who is teaching us to understand football, but football doesn't work like that.

Ah I got it now. I can use my senior moment card. I earned it. :p

I disagreed with the Exeter fan. And he doesn't understand the rules of fouls inside/outside the box and then fortified his position with mental gymnastics. Did my best to help.

Why use Chelsea v Southampton example? Why not Liverpool v Chelsea example?

How many of the 14 penalties a year we receive haven’t been penalties? Probably less than the amount that have been bizarrely waved away since Klopp starting crying…

The point is that neither should be used. You can't predict what would've happened in yesterdays game based on what another team did in another game.

Liverpool look classy. Obviously they are not gunna lose much. The 3:3 draw was unlucky but those games happen. Fact of the matter is they will only lose around 1 game and probably reach the CL final.

That’s incorrect. They struggled and were outplayed against Chelsea (before red card) & City at home.

The problems of last year is hardly addressed. Their midfield trio can be bypassed frequently, thus their quality forwards dont get the ball, and their defenders get overpowered 1v1.

They were amazing against Chelsea . That 1:1 draw? They were amazing in that game even before Chelsea got a man sent off. They probably should have edged it 2:1 against a team that had just won the CL

The wingbacks pushing up leaves them open at times but they are still challenging for titles and reaching CL finals. They are still pretty good at liming opposing chances considering this.

Liverpool at back to their best. Smashing Porto away and never looking like losing in the league. They are either going to win the league or the CL.. again.

I guess you didn’t watch the Chelsea game. They were getting outplayed before the red card. And after red card, they didnt create enough chances, and 10 man Chelsea also had some chances to score. Draw was a fair result.

The question is what have they improved from last season? The answer is nothing. Van Dijk may improve defence but he isnt the same anymore. They lost Gini, and their midfield vulnerabilities can be exploited by quality teams. And their key players cannot sustain peak form entire season.

Man Utd has to he favourite next game.LFC have poor record there , and LFC weak link is their captain.

Yep. You are easily better than Liverpool and should be favored. I agree 100%. If the unimaginable happened and you lost to such an inferior team, you would be 8 points off the top and miles away from the big 3 but that can’t happen right against such a terrible team.

Van Dijk isn't the same anymore? Based on what? I'm genuinely interested to know why you think that. Every game I've watched (Brentford aside), he's been really good and looking back to his old self.

Our key players have proved in recent seasons that they can keep their form throughout. You don't get 98 and 97 points in successive seasons if your players drop off in form. It may happen this season, but it's definitely not the certainty you're making it out to be.

I can't see how Utd can be favourites next week even if I'd rather you were. We didn't have a goodbrecord under Klopp at Old Trafford, but even in our poor season last year, we got a well deserved 4-2 win and our respective clubs forms are going in a different direction.

Why did LFC struggle last season? It wasn't just Van Dijk, and key players lost form together with weak midfield and lack of quality squad depth. The same issues are present this season plus no Gini. It's a good team, but hardly invicible which the poster tries to claim.

And this LFC team has shown consistent errors after the Covid break, including their title winning season. Van Dijk once had no player dribbled past him record, yet now he is getting caught out by the opponents . He still solidifies the team with his leadership, which Hendo is not capable of despite being the official captain. Usually LFC are very strong at home, but Chelsea (pre red-card) & Man City were better than them so the vulnerabilities is still there.

We struggled last season because we lost all 3 of our starting centre backs for the season and then we proceeded to lose our best midfielder (Fabinho) when he was moved into that position. It's no coincidence that once we put Fabinho back in midfield and went with a recognised centre back pairing (Phillips and Williams), that we started to show a consistency that has followed us into this season. Van Dijk may have been dribbled past a couple of times this season, but that's a strange thing to bring up as proof that he's not the player he once was.

As for Henderson, he is vastly underrated outside Anfield and his leadership is second to none in our team. Without him, we don't beat Barcelona 4-0. To say he doesn't solidify our team with leadership is laughable and shows how little you've seen of him. We have leaders all over our team though and I'd rather have Henderson in my midfield than a player like Pogba who is technically a better player, but doesn't have the drive and determination of Henderson who captained Liverpool to a first league title in 30 years and back to back Champions League finals.

Here the thing, the struggles didn't just happen last season. In19/20, LFC lost many points as well after Covid break. On last season, they did lose 7-2 even with Van Dijk in the team. Even with the world class front 3, they went goalless for many games last season. The vulnerabilities is there, and not gone.

Whenever LFC have been outplayed, Hendo is a major issue, as his tenacious football style will not always resolve his lack of pure technical and pace abilities. That's why the midfield trio is a weakness for LFC, and Klopp himself knows it and has tried to address it with Thiago. If Thiago comes good, he adds a different dimension to the team and adjusts the midfield vulnerabilities. On Van Dijk, he has made misplacements and mistakes this season, and thus many 1v1 siutations, the LFC defenders have been caught out.

Matip has been better than VVD this season which for me is a very good problem to have. Because we know that VVD is world class, his abilities would likely shine through as the season progresses. You know what is usually said about class being permanent and form temporary. And guess what, they still have Konate to unleash.

When we play against Liverpool, they will likely embarrass us, it’s so sad to say.

Henderson continues to be criminally underrated here, which is not a surprise.

Van Dijk hasn't looked bad this season, but he looks just a wee bit cautious, and overly defensive in his play. That's understandable considering he is coming back from a big injury. But he has looked solid apart from that one game against Brentford.

Matip has been better than him, though.

We look more like the Liverpool of 17-19 than The masters of game control we were in 19-20. There’s loads of goals in this side.

It's anyone but Liverpool again for the league I fear. They don't look as solid (or robotic) as when they won the title, but look like they'll score a shit load.

Yeah they are back to their best. You're only hoping that they drop more points via draws here and there. Dyk injured and Klopp having to play youngster Neco Williams did enough damage last season.

So your point is that they didn’t win against 2 of the best teams in the country? Big deal. Liverpool are looking like the team to beat right now, their form and confidence is up.
Their possible downside is the lack of depth in their squad, particularly up front if someone was to get injured

It is far easier to play inexperienced players in midfield. When Klopp was forced to rush right-back Neco Williams into the team, other managers are not stupid, they were targeting him.
