Got a little excited when I logged on and saw the thread had jumped 13 pages.

From what I've read they don't know what's going. Ornstein is saying that 'there's a feeling amongst people in the industry' that it would be ideal if they can keep him until the end of the season. So for me he's reporting from indirect sources.
I really hope that is the case

My only hope is the club is using a briefing to Ornstein as a bit of misdirection. I think we have done that in the past with LVG and Mourinho to get through the run up to the FA cup final.

I hope we are being honest with Ole and making him aware of what is going on, rather than how we treated other Managers.

If Watford IS to be his last match it would be better for all concerned to know that and he gets a positive sendoff, rather than going into the game with lots of anger and rancour from fans because he hasn't been sacked yet.

I'm not saying he should get another game...the club should have already acted. But if he is going to get 1 more game only, everyone should be made aware of it ASAP.
Fergie said on his documentary something a long the lines of:
"The pressure on me was enormous, and Martin came out and said. 'The manager has our support'. He didn't need to do that, and we all know that in football a single game could change everything, but I appreciated that. I think that was good of him. That meant a lot to me at the time."

Our idea of supporting the manager is quite literally saying that publicly up until the point where we sack him. That is the United way - doesn't mean the manager is actually safe. Mourinho had the full support of the board an hour or so before he was sacked. It's just what we do.

Ducker’s article going in hard and brutal on Ole. Will the club ban him from future pressers if they keep Ole?
Perhaps he knows Ole won’t be here much longer.

It's clear nothing will happen yet. I think we will either find some form and struggle our way through the rest of the season or he will be gone with bad results in our upcoming games. After we play Chelsea and Arsenal our fixtures are too good to realistically go on a bad enough streak to sack him.
It won't matter what we do if the teams above us keeping winning. He is in a situation now where he dare not drop even one point because it will mean the teams above can pull away even more. Yes he probably will go on a run at some point, but it is a sure thing we will go on a bad run at some point as well.

Today has to be the day.

Can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m very close to giving up on this club whilst this ownership is in charge.

In the breakdown of the game on the Athletic this morning I saw that -

The City game was the 15th League game where we've lost by two or more goals under Solskjaer. Compared to five under Moyes, five under LVG, and eight under Mourinho...

Sorry to be a negative on this but if he's going to be taking training today (which is likely), I don't think he's going anywhere before long.

I believe I read that the board will meet later this week(I don't remember the day), so I assume they haven't really had a chance to consider his position yet after the City game. He could very much take training and end up sacked after the board has finished their discussions.

I think he goes this week. There will 100% be some truth in the player revolt rumours and it’s clear now that even the most ardent Ole supporters are accepting he need me to go.

He is not going to lose against Watford. Not with the players we have.

"Those in power still want Solskjaer to succeed but it is unclear for how long that desire can override the reality."

I want to run a marathon in 2 hrs flat.

"Wanting" has feck all to do with anything, he isn't going to succeed, it's 3 years and 400m in and we actually look further away from City and Liverpool than we did when he took over. I refuse to believe Joel is that stupid, I can imagine SAF has a daft belief that because he climbed out of a crisis, maybe Ole can; but anyone other than Fergie looking at this and the level of our performances against our strongest rivals has to be deranged to think we're close to matching that.

This was a pretty damning insult,.”but that fabled “DNA” Solskjaer bangs on about could have stood for “Do Not Attack”.

But it's why he hasn't been sacked so far, they deluded themselves thinking they were onto something with Ole. They provided him with money and more importantly a structure that just basically makes getting rid of him harder for them.

They set the club again for failure and had no clue that would happen when everyone outside the United bubble saw it coming a mile away.

I'm with you pal. I was staying in the Lowry the other night and found out Ole was in the room next to me. I broke through the air duct cover and crawled into it as much as I could and softly sung Ole's at the wheel like a lullaby. I heard weeping coming from the other end of the ventilation shaft and then Ole's voice thanking me. We have to support the manager however we can mate.

BUT BUT BUT we play good football under Ole.

Biggest myth around, just because we have scored 5 goals a few times, does not cover for the fact that this season we have played well in 1 game.

it'll be weird in a couple years looking back on now and trying to begin to fathom how we persisted with a man who is so obviously not qualified or skilled enough to lead the biggest club on the planet. We've literally asked Buzz Lightyear to fly a real spaceship. no amount of 'to infinity and beyond' bullshit is going to hide the fact he's not a real pilot

Sheesh, live in Manchester? Go to games? That's your barometer for how good a supporter you are? Some of us don't live close but I'll tell you for free, you have fans in Asia who don't sleep so they can watch United, fans in Africa who paint their cars the colours of United and plan their lives around United and are so passionate about the club even through these tough times so you can't say they aren't ardent fans. I lived in Manchester briefly for work, stayed in Ancoats not far from the CIty ground and was able to go to Old Trafford a few times and it was great and if I lived in Manchester would surely have a season ticket and go every game and so would millions others, so don't make it seem because you have that opportunity that others that don't aren't as important a fan as you.

I've lived away from Rotterdam for a while, go back as often as I can and also catch my boyhood club Feyenoord from time to time, I grew up 10 mins from the training ground and my family have supported them for decades. Just because I can't go to games anymore because I work in Dubai doesn't make me any less of a Feyenoord fan too.
Woop de fecking do. I never miss an Orlando City game, weekend or midweek, be it at 12:30am, 3:30am or like last night a very lucky 20:30 kick off. I fly out there a couple of times a season to watch them live. But I would never ever pretend that my opinion should be worth anywhere near as much as a season ticket holder to the club. I wouldn't say I am less of a fan than the season ticket holders but obviously the people who are there week in week out are far more important to the club than someone like me.

Is it only United fans that don't go to games that have this ridiculous sense of self entitlement?

You really think it is that simple and that a caretaker manager comes in and does a few training sessions and suddenly, by some divine magic, the wins start accumulating !

It will take at least one full winter and one summer window of clearing out some absolute dross in that team (defensive positions mainly) and a proper manager for United to actually close in on the top three.
Mate we have 30 players. The manager is free to not pick the dross. There's absolutely brilliant players in the squad. A top manager would have it challenging for the title.

But a couple of poor team performances and suddenly all of them are babboons and we need to "rebuild". Nonsense.

These briefings that we'd prefer to wait until the summer to make a decision are fecking hilarious. Gary Neville keeps repeating the same thing, saying shit like "they haven't planned for this". Which club does plan for this? It's a crisis. A couple of months ago we finished second and bought Ronaldo, Varane and Sancho. Obviously we didn't plan for it, but that doesn't change the reality of the situation. If anything, it just emphasises the extent of the problem. We're making it much worse for ourselves by allowing the regime to continue after humiliating defeats, and to not give an appropriate successor more time to implement change. I cannot stand the bunch of witless balloons that run this club.

As its the international break , we will have 2 weeks which will give the coaching staff ample time to sort things out. With Watford away coming up, we should win that and no doubt that will boost confidence and expect the team to go on a run. Plus we are top of our CL group so its only fair Ole is given the opportunity to progress.

- Is what the Manchester United board is thinking right now.

Here I thought the most deluded part of our club was some bits of the fanbase. Seems like those in charge are even more deluded, the scum that they are.

Seems like unless we drop to 15th or something he will get the season regardless of results or fan feeling. Strap in for a rough one and pray that once this is over we never hire someone with previous links to the club again.

They’re thinking we can’t afford to bring in new management but if the players down tools for Watford there is nothing they can do but let him go.
