Does anyone else feel like they are mourning ? I was massively ‘Ole in’ up until the Liverpool game but fully understand the decision is the correct one.

Out of all of our post fergie managers, I feel as though Ole has got us closest to what we should be playing like. Even though he’s not won a trophy, the football at times has been so much more enjoyable & he’s left a very good side for the next manager to take over.

The bloke bleeds the club and it’s heartbreaking seeing him leave this way - he’ll always be a legend.

First of all: Ole Gunnar Solskjær, forever a Man United legend. I wasn’t yet alive to see THAT goal, but my dad did see it, and we all know that it’s the most important goal in our illustrious history. No one will ever take that away from him.

Now, on to his management. He tried his best, but he was simply not good enough. Tactically inept, awful and late substitutions after the 75th minute most of the time, no trophies and I think he even eclipsed Mourinho in terms of stubbornness. McFred as a pair are quite possibly relegation level, and if not, bottom 10 at the very least. Harry Maguire, a player signed off one World Cup after getting relegated with Hull. Ole pushes his £80m signing through, instantly captains him and never drops him after continuous disasterclasses. All this for Harry Maguire, the definition of decent at his best. He absolutely had to go and should have done after Everton, but I will at least give him credit for his team-building. It’s far, far better than what LvG or Mourinho left us - they just weren’t utilised properly.

One thing I’m sad about it that the Glazers waited for fans to truly turn on him first before sacking him. Disgusting ownership and way to take advantage of a man who was clearly just happy to be here. I just hope he realises that we turned on his management, not him personally. In 5 years, when we’re hopefully winning big titles again, the only thing we’ll reminisce about him was how amazing a striker he was, and that Nou Camp goal.

Good luck Ole.

All players with a clean slate now. We might get a proper manager that knows how to get the best out of Maguire, Shaw, Sancho, Van de Beek, etc.

Ole is one of the most inept people in the whole league. Our team is not this bad.
No one to hide behind now for these overrated players. Time to show why we pay them so much.

Did his job description include getting mauled 5-0 by Liverpool at home and not winning anything in 3 years? If so, I am not sure why is he even getting sacked.
In my mind what he was expected to do was to be a caretaker until the end of season and he has done that. I can appreciate it after the Jose shitshow.

What happened after that was our board stupidity to make him a permanent manager when there were Poch, Nagelsmann, Tuchel, Conte around. And to later afford him so much time and transfer budget to go nowhere. We knew he was a failed Cardiff manager and whatever kind of magic he conjured during that first 10-15 games run was never sustainable.

Yep! I’ve felt this way since Liverpool, just really really sad. It’s hard to see someone you respect and admire fail. I can’t relate to the party atmosphere that some seem to have here (although I do understand it). Hope we have a good replacement we are negotiating with whilst Fletcher or whoever takes over the next couple games.

Thought I’d put this in a separate post out of respect to Ole: sack McKenna, Ramsay, Dempsey ASAP. These guys were just as big a problem as Ole, just without the legend status, and definitely won’t be missed. Take your compensation and never come near this coaching staff again. It’s good that Phelan has been culled already despite that contract extension, albeit I do feel a bit of sympathy for him.

We had the international break vut only yesterday they took a decision. Bunch of idiots really
It's a bit mad, they must have genuinely seen the Watford game, and then us maybe getting to the CL knock out stage as some sort of potential big reset for Ole.

If you truly ever felt what mourning does to you, you would never have said that. Although Man Utd is important to us, it is necessary for us to keep a certain distance with things and not get too emotionally affected by this.
I hate what has been happening since the great man retired but I refuse to let it poison my life.

It really kills the idea that because these people are decision-makers at one of the biggest clubs in the world, they know better than the average fan.

Everyone saw it coming except them.

I feel more relief that he's gone. I'll always love him as a player but as a manager and over 400m spent it's hard for me to say he's been anything but a failure.

You could argue he steadied the ship, I would have agreed with you 3 months ago, but after the last lot of games we look in dire straits and it will take a new manager to steady the ship.

Question is will the new manager get the backing Ole got, no one before him did.

Fletch is 3 games max, they've said they're looking for an interim but Fletch will step in until then
They must have at least used the last two weeks to sound a few people out and make some sort of call on it in the event of the Watford game going wrong, we all know they are useless, but surely they can't be at the start of the process.

The way some of you have conducted yourselves over the last 4 months is a fecking embarrassment.
Absolutely - some of the apparent glee is shameful. There's literally nothing to be gleeful about.

Reports are that United were sounding out mangers over the international break for interim roles. Reckon Solskjaer was told over the break that he's gone after Watford depending on results, his body language suggested he knew it was only a matter of time. Hopefully the new structure we have in place means we're not stupid? Hopefully anyway. Fletch for the rest of the season would be a disaster.

The noise about Phelan leaving but Carrick staying sounds strange. Not that I think Phelan should stay, I think the whole coaching setup needs a hard reset, but Phelan's accomplishments in a coaching capacity at this club far outweigh Carrick's. They're all part of the current problem.

Not really no, there are more important things in life..
He was a good player but a catastrophic manager and I’m just glad he’s finally gone

Agree that Carrick should leave before Phelan from an experience point of view but I suppose the issue is that Phelan is the most senior and has been a big part of this shocking form this season, so he has to go.

How about Blanc as caretaker, let him bring his own staffs and leave Fletcher alone?

The fact that he was offered a new 3 year contract says it all about how little the Man Utd board know about football.

Tbf to them, though someone like Fletcher as caretaker seems perfectly normal while you line up someone else. Not sure why that seems to be a problem.

Agreed, and I'm sure Emery and Tuchel are chuckling away themselves this morning, knowing that we could have had a credbile manager in place if we'd used the international break properly.

You can only hope the players give us some sort of positive reaction to Ole's sacking regardless of who is in charge for the next few games, because they can't hide behind him now.

I agree on paper, but the thing is as fans we don’t know who brings what to the table, and annoyingly we just have to trust what they’re doing, however the decision makers at united have earnt 0 trust.

Wasn't Lopetegui proper shit at Real and Spain?
He was good for Spain, which got him the Madrid job, which in turn got him sacked from the Spain job before Spain kicked a ball in the World Cup. Then he was a disaster at Madrid and was out of work in about 3 months when they realised he was out of his depth.

Why should anyone be in mourning if they are United fans? We have removed an incompetent manager and they should have done it ages ago when top class managers were still available. Now only Zidane is unemployed and for me personally I do not think he is the right choice to be the manager at United. Yes he won a lot at Real but the current United is a lot different.

Thanks for clearing that up. Still a bit worrying isn't it

Hmm maybe because some of us wanted the manager who is a united legend to do well? Simple as that. It’s okay to be sad for someone on a human level, but also acknowledge it is the correct decision.

Really shows what a shambles the board are when we need to appoint a temporary manager 2 days before a huge CL match when we've had a 2 week international break to get things sorted.
