Amadou Haidara

What is credibity of this information? Sounds too fishy. Just because Rangnick is from RB system
doesn't mean he will be targetting RB playera by default.

P.S. "Red Bull Manchester" - how does the sound of that feel? Can Red Bull afford to buy us out from Glazers? :)

They have two Formula 1 teams. Pretty sure the can if they wanted to.

Also, glad we're addressing the midfield issue.
Not that familiar with Haidara, but hopefully he turns out well if the rumour is true.

Don’t know feck all about him except for the fact that he scored against us for Leipzig to put us 2-0 down in the final group game that we lost to them, sending us to the Europa League.

Zero.

If Ragnick, who is a master recruiter and tactician, thinks we need him, I’m 100% on board. I know nothing about him at all. We buy a lot of names without thinking how they’ll fit in. I am really excited at the prospect of targeted and analysed recruitment, that fits in with a coherent tactical plan.

Think they're just linking him because he's a midfielder from Leipzig who has spoken about being a United fan.

But £30m for him, hell why not. Better than £100m for Rice.
How is it better? Rice has been fantastic and is exactly what we need (ed if Ole would stay at least).

Someone tell him he’s our manager now, not Moscow. He’s allowed to sign players that someone other than him have heard of.

I think if we target anyone from RB Leipzig, it'll probably be Dominik Szoboszlai who is a very promising young CM, who Rangnick and his recruitment team have had under their wing since he was at FC Liefering, who are a affiliate club to RB Salzburg. The player then moved to RB Salzburg, before moving to RB Leipzig. Rangnick was also reported to want to take Szoboszlai to AC Milan.

The player's only just turned 21, but suits the Rangnick blue print of high intensity football and would be a potential big upgrade over Mctominay.

This kind of rationale is precisely what gave us a squad full of individuals. Hes a midfielder, hes said United is a dream move, Rangnick obviously knows him well and will fit his system (he also moved him from Salzburb to Leipzig) and its not exactly like it will be cheap given his release clause is a 3rd of Moscows entire squad value...

Szoboszlai isn't exactly a CM so he wouldn't replace McTominay. Good player but can't see us going for him as we have enough attacking options unless we sell someone.

Seem to recall him having a really impressive Euros for Hungary. He was mostly playing off the back foot there though so not sure how good he is at being more proactive in possession.

Also I think he is more of a left mid than a central one.

Also doubt they will sell him as their team was already decimated this season.

If Poch had got the job we would be linked with every player under him at Spurs from Danny Rose to Harry Kane.

Id bet good money what happened here was they just looked up the RB squad and picked a CM to link us with.

Szoboszlai played left of a diamond at Salzburg on occasions and is best suited to playing box to box imo.

He's a United fan. “I like Manchester United very much and watch as many games as possible. I dream of playing there. ” Haidara told Bild in 2019.

33M Release clause supposedly. He was signed as a Naby Keita replacement.

He's a versatile player that can be utilised in several formations but for me he's best utiilised as a #8 in the box to box role long-term.

That was pretty rarely though. He could play in an advanced role in a three man midfield, but that's about it. Not exactly what we will be looking for imo. Mostly plays on the left.

edit: In our current 4-2-3-1 setup he'd compete with Rashford or Bruno but definitely not McTominay.

They did sell several players but I wouldn't say their team was decimated when Konate hardly played in the last few years. Upamecano/Konate were replaced by Simikan and Gvardiol and they also added Szoboszlai.

He'd be a Pogba/Bruno replacement IMO. I think we need someone with more defensive qualities as a midfielder, rather than someone that has almost all of his strengths going forward.

Szoboszlai didn’t play at the Euros.

McTominay was a forward coming through the youth ranks before he was utilised deeper. Szobsolai imo is a box to box type and i'd like to see him as the box to box player in a 3 man midfield.

They lost 3 first choice players, yes they added players to replace them but they are not at the players they have lost. Also they signed Szoboszlai just 10-11 months ago, doubt they will him so quickly.

Their team hasn't been 'decimated' is all i'm saying. They also lost their head coach.

That would mean sacrificing Bruno which I can't see happening. We need someone who can play in a midfield two and Szoboszlai isn't that player. Haidara is a better fit, but not as exciting. Came with huge expectations as the Keita replacement, but couldn't live up to that standard.

Yeah, so first 3 team players + head coach. That is being decimated.

Haidara is a versatile player but not what we need. He's a industrious type that would replicate what Fred/give us give us off the ball, but with added pressure applying ability.

This story is from Mirror and Sun just reposted it. Like others said, they just went through Leipzig squad and named one CM.

That's a very extreme definition to describe a club like RB Leipzig who made it to the UCL semis without having the services of Konate, and are currently within touching distance of 3rd/4th with a game in hand.

Who will also presumably be away at the AFCON in January. How do people still fall for this stuff?
