Where are those quotes coming from? Did he have any interviews today or something?

Just because some twitter decided to quote it, doesn't mean it was meant to be profound and life-changing ...

You never replied, what do you think of Nagelsmann?
Right sorry.

Well, the Klinsmann with glasses quip was rather because they're both Swabians who talk very similarly, and are similarly prone to motivational business speaking.
And yeah, it doesn't help that Rangnick built two random plastic clubs with the help of billionaire money while telling everyone who can't climb a tree fast enough about 'optimizing performance' and such.
I mostly dislike his self-promotion and how little filter he seems to have when telling the media about his negotiations and job offers.

But no matter whether I like or dislike him, there's no denying he knows what he's doing, however that translates at the very top.

Regarding Nagelsmann, he's fantastic. Every manager has flaws, but so far Nagelsmann's main flaw seems to be his fashion sense. If that remains his main flaw, and isn't surpassed by, say, the inability to shut up shop when ahead or to win finals, I will gladly take more grossly checkered suits and bizarrely cut shirts.

Surely DDG is gonna make way if we’re moving the team that high up the pitch? Unless of course Ralfy can teach him to sweeper keep so late in his career.
DDG stays on his line and that’s a fair comment. But I think he does so when he has an attacker running at him with the ball (and maybe set-plays). To be a sweeper keeper your starting position needs to be high in order to avoid the opposition striker ever getting in a one-on-one situation like that. It seems advanced but I don’t believe that it is so hard for a keeper to adapt to. Now, if we had gotten Pep and we had to ask DDG to change his game to play the more one touch short passing game, that would be asking a lot from him.

His daughter is dating Timo Werner since 2017, Rangnick could very well go for him in the summer and he'd like it better than Dortmund.
We got rid of the 'jobs for the boys' brigade and are replacing it with the in-laws. This is much better. I get the feeling I will miss Carrick a lot.

Well it's not something he adapted to previously so I don't see any reason why he would now suddenly change his whole style of goalkeeping. The difference in the defensive line with Henderson behind them last season (and Romero in years gone by) made it very clear that it wasn't a coaching issue, rather a De Gea issue. His starting position is usually too deep, and even when it isn't too deep his instinct is to move backwards rather than forwards which regularly puts the defenders in trouble. I just don't see that aspect of his game improving unfortunately.

Lowering expectations already. #RalfRaus!
I know you jest, but it is necessary to lower expectations. We are in a rebuild again but not of the kind that was being implemented by Ole - who was lowering expectations even in his third season!

With Rangnick, we should start seeing a consistent style established by January 15. In the meantime, I hope we win games ugly.

From the training pics it looked like it was Ralf, McKenna and Fletcher running training.

That's a small time mentality probably from his RBL days. We don't sell and so we are least bothered making a profit out of a transfer.
His mentality of buying young hot prospects for low fees and then selling for big prophet is a very good formula and it works for the clubs he worked at previously. But I have no doubt that if the model at his previous clubs like RB Leipzig was to consolidate and add to the talent already at the club, he'd have RB Leipzig challenging Bayern for the league IMO.

I'm a big believer in the same model, because like you say, we don't need to sell said young player within 2 to 3 years to generate capital, like his previous clubs. And that mentality is of someone who looks to develop the club for the now, mid-term and long-term, which would be very beneficial for us, because he's someone that also understands modern football unlike LVG.

Personally I'm hoping he guides us to top 4, and takes the role permanently, which has the potential to see us return as a force in the game. Going for someone like Pochettino would be a down grade on Rangnick IMO.

When did we ever have a manager who not only wanted to play high line but also knew how to execute it? I suppose this is not something we can make an educated judgement on till we have seen at least a few games. I expect DDG to be alright in the sweeper role if asked.

No, thats just something that every club should look at and be aware of. If you spend big on too many old players with no resale value, you end up in a Barcelona type scenario. Investing in younger players is just much safer. Look at Dan James. Bought for 15m, meh performances but sold for 30m still. The goal is to invest in elite younger players where you get them for long periods that you can build a top side, and then if needed, spend big on the 1 experienced guy that will give you what you need to be successful. That's the recipe for success.

Yet we sold Ronaldo. How’s is that a small time mentality? Ronaldo @ United, Coutinho, Hazard all were bought for a small fees as kids, they developed into great players and got sold on for x3 profit.

I doubt United, Chelsea or Liverpool bought these players with the intention of selling. They wanted to leave, a club has no choice but to sell for profit or lose on free or small fee.

Well said. Younger and unknown players are often far more hungry to do well and follow instruction that maybe doesn’t fully suit their game than millionaires many times over. As Fergie says young players will always surprise you. We’ve been missing a trick with our recruitment post Fergie. Hopefully RR corrects that.

There has been nothing wrong with our signings age profile stop making stuff up most clubs who intend to compete for trophies regularly follow the similar mix and it won't be changing any time soon and rightly so .
We have been let down by the fact that we had poor managers and signed some poor players nothing more.

Changing the time frames I see. LVG did the same after working with our lot in the beginning.
Anyone who was expecting to change the whole system with these players in a matter of a few weeks needed their heads tested to be fair.

I disagree and I’ve been beating this drum for a long time. You say we’ve signed “some bad players” if you call spending over a billion quid and only having an EL to show for it just plain bad luck or mostly down to poor management on the pitch then you’re the one that’s making stuff up. As an organisation we’ve clearly been targeting the wrong players. Getting very little ROI and losing money on most investments we make whatever way you look at it.

Again you are digressing from your initial point you said we have stopped signing young and hungry players ready to step up when we have done exactly that for most part along with some experienced players and marquee talents which is the way most top Clubs who intend to compete for top trophies regularly follow , just because we have done bad job of it doesn't mean strategy is wrong it's just mean we need to get better at it .

Leipzig have sacked Jesse Marsch, so it'll be interesting to see if he fancies teaming up with Rangnick for the remainder of the season.

I can imagine ralf having a meeting with the u23 squad and saying there are places up for grabs for anyone prepared to listen and work at the system. It'll be implemented right through the academy so they learn it ahead of getting into the first team. When they do, they'll slot straight in because they'll already know the system

Is he worth considering for us? Is he highly rated? I see that Leipzig are only midtable.
He's a very good coach and we'd be quite lucky to get him in as the first team coach under Rangnick IMO.

He's someone that will likely look to be the main man again at some other club very soon. But I could see him come in for 6 months and help Rangnick with implementing his style of play, and his first language is English, which can also only help.

Sounds like he'd be a bit of a coup short term. Thanks for your post.
