... then I am very encouraged that this could be the beginning of a massive change in the way sport is offered around the globe.
Exactly. I do hope that DAZN is just the beginning and that this kind of approach also will reach other countries. I mean, when Amazon or Netflix are able to make a lot of money and provide a lot of quality for a few euro per month, why should football fans have to pay 30, 50 or even 100 to watch their team?

So DAZN are showing the McGregor v Mayweather fight at no cost other than the monthly subsciption.

But they are only showing it in Germany, Austria and Japan. Anyone know why they arent showing it in Switzerland and Canada?

I pay 7pounds a month for my DTH subscription. I can see Italian, Spanish, German, English, Brazilian, French, UCL, UEL, FA Cup and Chinese leagues for that.

I don't see this app being an hit in India.

I guess that someone else bought the rights, paid more money in these countries. In Switzerland, a channel/website (?) called Teleclub seems to show the fight.

That's not bad. Such a cheap price for so much football will never happen in the football-crazy countries like in the countries in europe, I am afraid.

(It's the same with sports only a few are interested here. Since "no one" is interested in Baseball in middle europe, the rights for this sport are unbelieveable cheap. Maybe nearly free. Not so in the US, I guess.)

I get PL, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1, J-League, Chinese football, a bit of the WC qualifier, Eredivisie, Portuguese league and several domestic cup matches.
On top of that I get US sport coverage and a bit of Rugby. They are also marketing the living shit out of McG vs Mayweather, but I never checked if it costs extra.

For €10 a month (DAZN). In Germany.

Bundesliga and CL set me back €25 a month though, because I need sky for that.

I know what Dazn is. I started this thread.

However, Dazn is "not normal" if you compare their offer to other european countries, is it? Everyone wonders why it is so cheap.

I'm not on Dazn. This is just what my cable company offers.

I signed up for this today - the live courage seems very good, but there aren't any on demand games and the highlights are very short. I watched a few Serie A highlights and the commentary is hit and miss - you might catch the name of the scorer, but assists no chance and no lineups to get a idea of the players.

Considering live games happen over night in Japan, I'm not sure I see any benefit to a subscription.

That's a great deal, in HD too?

I am very happy with DAZN thus far (less than a month now at 12.90 CHF/month) and I can stop anytime rather than be tied to an annual contract - wonder what sort of WC coverage they might have

What kind of audio do they offer? Only ever watched it with friends who subscribed, but the commentators were always some boring german chaps (like Benny Lauth, random Bundesliga player).

German, presumably boring but I only care about being able to see the match not the commentary

I would imagine they do but as they have added two markets since their recent inception: Canada, Austria, Germany, Japan and Switzerland in total. They are UK based but entering into that market seems to be complicated

Go to the website or download the app for your device. I should caution that they have different content for DAZN Canada when I saw they were available there but I didn't pay attention to the details - apparently they had some initial issues with NFL coverage but I read that it had been remedied

Much as I like DAZN, IPTV is the way to go. Not 100% reliable by any stretch, but for a tenner I get everything in the world.

In Italy it's trash. It's so bad the idea of a class action against it for refunds is widely being circulated on the net. Live events are often of an unwatchable quality

I have it, and i'm forced to use other means to watch football games(they have laliga and half the serie A) anyways

Lost EPL rights for Germany, Austria and Switzerland for the next 3 years - that´s horrible. Still an incredible amount of live sports for 5 bucks a month, will keep it.

Damn. Who has them for the next three years? Have to admit EPL is the main reason I have a subscription with them. Hope it's not garbage SKY?
Unfortunately it´s Sky for the next 3 years. They charge something like 30 bucks a month for there basis+sports package and that´s laughable. Within the last few years they lost nearly every licence on the sports market and still cost a fortune.

Stream quality with them has largely been excellent for NFL in Canada, hopefully it's more of the same.
The only concern is the high volume of people that will use it and the potential for too much stopping and them not being able to handle the traffic at first like what happens with redzone occasionally. We'll see but I'm looking forward to it!

Very true that they have occasionally had some issues with redzone (feel like it happened more this year than last, weirdly), but it really never became much of an issue for me and seemed pretty sporadic. Either way, EPL was the only thing left about cable that attracted me, glad those days are finally ending.

I can't remember why I joined this war.

My god they are even worse than I thought. Their streaming service in Germany is absolutely laughable. You can only watch the games if they are also playing on one of their tv channels, so no on-demand service like every proper streaming service should have these days. After the first month it will cost even €15 more than DAZN (€25 instead of €10), and they show sooo many adds its worse than anything I have ever seen. Canceled the subscription after a week again. Thank god I don't had to do a two-year subscription or stuff like that. Sky is just absolute cancer, at least in Germany.

DAZN is class for me in Canada. $10 a month and I get every single PL game? Madness.

Just a shame Utd are shite cause it makes me not want to watch the rest of the games that weekend.

Interesting update today in Germany. Over the last 5 years the costs have slowly moved from 10€/month with monthly cancellation policy to now 15€/month.
But today they announced that from February 1st, new customers and returning subscribers will pay EUR 29.99 per month - with monthly cancellation. In the case of an annual subscription, which can optionally be paid in monthly installments, it is now 24.99 euros per month. Customers receive the cheapest offer overall if they pay for the annual subscription (EUR 274.99 = ~EUR 23/month) in advance. All existing DAZN subscribers will keep their current price until July 31, 2022. The same applies to all fans who sign up or reactivate their DAZN membership by January 31st.

So 50% increase over the last 5 years to now 100% increase within a year for the monthly option. Overall still a good deal (also because you can share and watch at the same time) but this is getting quickly into Sky territory. I'm pretty sure this means that they'll heavily bid for getting the PL back which they didn't have the last 3 years.

I think it's still a fair price if you're interested in the fringe sports they broadcast, but I'm quite certain this will cost them a ton of average football fans.

Straight up doubling your prices (or even tripling from your initial offer) is just PR suicide and this is not exactly the time where people will mindlessly cough up their money for football anymore either.

I think people will draw a line at paying €60 a month and it's not going to be the subscription for Sky they cancel, because in the end the Friday/Sunday games are more of a footnote of the matchday and even in the CL Amazon took half the Bayern/Dortmund games away from DAZN.
I think a lot of people will just say "feck off, I'm not paying €30 a month for a 720p broadcast of 10 big games a season, I'll just use a friend/pub/stream for the few games I really can't do without."

They already backtracked a little bit:
"At the moment it's not entirely clear how the pricing structure will look like from Augst 1st."

Which I guess is a weird statement, considering they just announced their new pricing structure.
