Why would we not have been in for Zakaria or Guimareas at these prices?
I doubt that we had the money for Bruno and perhaps just didn't rate Zakaria - he doesn't look like quite the same player post-injury.

United's focus appears to be on cutting the wage bill and slimming down the size of the squad, in preparation for a new manager in the summer.

You'd expect all of Van de Beek, Cavani, Lingard, Pogba, Jones, Henderson, Bailly, Ronaldo, Martial and Mata to leave the club in the next six months. The new manager then has a clean slate (at least as far as the midfield and attack is concerned - the defence will probably largely remain the same into next season).

You are probably right in terms of the plan. However the problem is that it increases the chance of us not qualifying for next seasons cl which will make signing new players hard and it means we would need to make a large number of signings in the summer when we have previously looked incapable of making more than 3 biggish signings.

There have been plenty of jokes at Spurs expense this window but they are still strengthening while in a better position than us in the league

Continuation of their wage bill being astronomical and they will continue their issues with the front line not really bonding with the rest of the team. I imagine they'll rinse Barca as they really need to get him off the books.

Because he’s not any much of an upgrade? Ask yourself why other big clubs didn’t go for him but only Juventus.
Juventus have so many options in the middle of the park and still added him, surely that should speak volumes? We are an injury away from total disaster and we still choose to pass up on someone going for €5m euros? We could sell him on for a higher fee without him even kicking a ball for us. It’s a no brainer.

He's really not all that.

West Ham are just throwing 50m at every club and see who accepts no matter what position the player plays.

First Raphinha, then Phillips and now Nunez.

Don't worry my friends, tomorrow is the day Ed realizes transfer window is open. And with his magical negotiating skills, and help from his mate Judge, we get what we need.

Juventus love getting average players for free transfer or minimal fees. Most players they have got the last few years have all been bad.
If reports are to be believed we are after a midfielder so fingers crossed we bring one in before the window closes.

Who are we after? There've been no recent reports, have there?

So basically Bordeaux told Phil Jones, you will play if you are fit. Needless to say the negotiations broke down over lack of first-team football.

This story makes less sense the more I think about it. Surely he knows he'd be the best defender there. Why was he even looking for assurances?

Players don't usually sign to teams that intend to sell them without letting them kick a ball. He would certainly have talked to Allegri before accepting a move so soon, especially given that he could have waited for the summer.

And Juventus doesn't really have that many options. Most of the options are very underwhelming. The fans are celebrating the sale of Bentancur and can't wait to see Rabiot and Ramsey take the door. The latter hasn't played in 3 months.

It seems Chelsea and United will be the only big clubs doing zero incoming business this window. And I’m surprised at both.

Actually shocked we haven’t brought in some cover at fullback. Alonso is a massive defensive liability against even poor teams. And we have to ride him until the end of the season. :(
