I don't see how we can get rid without it costing millions.
He has never played a single season outside the CL has he? Very much doubt he wants to start now.

He's going to leave and I think it might be a blessing for us. Ronaldo isn't the guy for us anymore. He's too old.

This guy is the main reason we're so shit this season and that Ole got sacked. He's not a leader, just a self absorbed twat. Bitter now that he's no longer as good as he was. Can't even be benched for the complete soap opera he creates and is also greedy as feck in front of goal and even more shockingly, he rarely looks happy when a team mate scores unless he has scored too. Our young players don't appear to look up to him like it appeared they would. If I had to wager a guess, it appears that a lot of the younger players don't like him at all.
We'll see a different United next season with him gone. Never a United legend in my eyes anyway. Abandoned us in his prime and should never have been brought back.

I love Ronaldo, but I think he is really struggling with the pace and strength of the league. He can't be anyone for pace now, he seems to have lost body strength to retain the ball. We are absolutely carrying him.

Best for all if he goes in the summer.

Who's he going to play for though?

Bet he regrets turning city down. Utd being in a much worse state than he originally thought.

Doubt there will be any takers for him this summer, not with mbappe going to madrid and haaland going somewhere.
City didn't want him. His agent Mendes offered him to them and they had talks. Do you really think he'd have signed for us if Pep really wanted him? Don't you think Mendes would've offered him to United first?

Thing is you could literally see the decline in his final season at Juventus if you watched a single game of theirs . It's just evidence number 10 of our scouting team being THE single most thing holding United back.

People say it's the players or the mangers.. the reality is we have some good players but we keep signing shite that doesn't improve the first XI.

I’m not going to be stupid enough to join the Finished FC bandwagon, because I’ve listened to Zlatan be slandered with that for about 8 years and keeping proving people wrong.

Right now Ronaldo is in horrific form though and United have completely ballsed up their squad management to not have any sort of good alternative, who wouldn’t just leave a big gap elsewhere.
Terrible comparison .. even if Zlatan was a awful finisher while here he was a good enough technician that excelled at the basic fundamentals of a striker such as link up play, first touch etc which has allowed him to still play at a decent level in Europe at 40 years old.

Ronaldo was never that good technically but relied on his physical attributes and speed to beat defenders. Everything he did well in his prime was based around doing things at speed . He could never slow down a game and play at his own pace because he would get exposed technically. Players like that never age gracefully because when their legs go there are no fundamentals to be relied on.

Yeah, I can't see any way that City really wanted him. Wouldn't suit them at all. It was all bullshit. Had to be.

When Dalot took that chest and volley which the keeper saved, Ronaldo was gesturing at the goal line as if Dalot should have set him up for the tap in. I laughed at that scene, especially when that was right after he took his own volley

This is exactly what happened at Juve. You can’t deny the man got his goals and he’s a winner who demands the highest standards but the team becomes a poorer unit overall. When the team fails it becomes overly toxic but it’s a vicious circle because he’s a big part of the reason we fail. Portugal have been in decline with their over reliance on ronaldo when in fact without him they would probably still be heavy favourites in most matches they play. Our use of him has left us lacking in presence and work rate in a vital area and it’s made us extremely predictable to boot.

So much for the notion that we just need to create chances for him to make the difference. He's way past it at this point.

When he rounded the keeper he should have hit the ball hard enough to leave the defender with no chance. No excuses for that.

It’s a dip in form. But it’s also true that Ronaldo has to be better managed. He’s just not capable of 90 minutes back to back any longer.
I’m not convinced it is. I think this poor United side, playing in the PL has shown him up to be physically not able for it, and I mean consistently. Hence why we’re hearing rumblings of wanting out. He knows it himself

We are screwed now. Him and Cavani until the end of the season. Elanga only as the other option.

Simply not up to the league to be relied on every game. Reckon he will still help out in Europe, but it's mad that our main strikers are him and Cavani.

Zlatan could dominate centre backs physically when he was here. His holdup play was in a different league to Ronaldo.

I mean he's not clinical anymore, so he offers almost nothing at all. breaks down our attacks as well.

While he did alright and exceeded my expectations at the beginning I think it’s fair to say that this thread should be allowed for replies again given how it has turned out since then: https://www.redcafe.net/threads/unp...l-be-a-huge-miss.465183/page-30#post-28022681
Just look at the responses you got. Borderline insults and making fun of what proved to be pretty much nail in the head OP. Also, not some hysterical knee-jerk, but a well argumented opinion based on what Ronaldo offered in the last season or two. In the end, people didn't even go into the thread to have a reasonable debate, but to laugh and make fun of you.

You deserve an apology, but reckon most will just burry their head in the sand.

Perhaps, but, professional as he is, he's not immune the general malaise that seems to have infected the club over the past couple of years.

Watch him show up against Atletico and be crowned “The King” even though he is not even close to what he once was.

United fans will “forgive” his bad form and get duped into thinking he should still be a player to build around etc. etc.

United should ship him this summer and make room for players who’lI have short AND long term future at the club.

Juve didn't improve this season without CR, they're worse and you can't deny that.

I still can’t forgive him for leaving us in 2009 & calling real madrid his dream & the bigger club

how on earth our fans accept his returns after the way he dealt with us in the past ?!!

not a top 5 player in our team history & never been a top 5 player since 2014

only his goals that put him in a comparison with the big names like neymar messi while his game overall is below average

hopefully he is gone be the end of this season

He isn't a CF , he never was. Unfortunately he doesn't have the legs to play in another position either.

Best we can try is a 2 man forward line along with Cavani. But Cavani is nowhere to be seen.

Teams that don't even pay £100k a week? Very doubtful.
I think he cares more about increasing his CL goals tally tbh.

Be amazed if he played in the Europa League or Conference League.

If he's leading our line next season we won't finish top 6. 38 is too old for PL football.

Yes they are but I don’t think anyone can deny that the ronaldo years didn’t exactly set them up for the future either. They were just hoping one magic player could make the difference in competitions like the CL. I actually can’t believe we did it ourselves, well I can because we clearly have no plan. When Madrid are selling their best ever player, smart clubs should step back and maybe look a bit more closely at why but they won’t because from a marketing standpoint its too lucrative

Abysmal. His touch is wank, he's yard/yard and a half slower than fecking Romeu and Bednarek who are shite, his passing is poor.

Just awful today. The more we persist with him as a #9, the more we'll be shooting ourselves in the foot.

He needs to be benched. I think play Bruno as a false 9, let Pogba move higher up and play Fred next to Scotty.

Or move Pogba left and let Rashers play in the middle.

He wanted a payraise or out so Perez sold him to Juventus who'd offer that. He was busy chasing Neymar at the time.

Yeah, but he's been like this most of the season now. His attributes are so limited now.
