Sancho or elanga. Saint maximan is the winger we need. His pace, directness and ability to defeat a player is a factor that is missing in our attack.
I think ASM will be with Newcastle for the long haul, huge project over the next few years and I see him being a massive part of there future, would take some serious cash for Newcastle to part ways with him.
I am a huge admirer of Antony, and would’ve argued blue in the face that he’s our man, until recently, that olise for CP is some talent and only just turned 20, definitely an upcoming star

Raphinha is my top choice. Prem proven and starts in front of Antony in the Brazil national team. Antony looks incredible too, however.

Yea, true he is one of the players they have that matches the ambition of such a big takeover. However, unless Newcastle offer him crazy money to stay there, I don't see why it won't be impossible to lure him here. We will benefit more from having asm in the team than Antony, who is somewhat akin to Sancho. I have not watch much of olise, but next time Crystal Palace plays, I will keep an eye out for him

OP! Both are my favored options, who would suit us better I'm not sure. Rapha has the league experience & report with our Bruno, Antony looks a future star who could be a real talent in the not-so-distant-future.

Been thinking this too actually, I think opposition fullbacks can basically handle all our wingers 1v1 like 90% of the time. Sancho is the only one that brings any sort of trickery and even then it's not his primary game.

On the other hand, you'd be terrified of having Mahrez or Sterling 1v1 running at you.

ASM still is a LW though, as much as I'd like to have him, Newcastle are too rich and we don't need yet another LW cut-in merchant.

Strange. He's about as team oriented as Bruno Fernandes - i.e. a bit of a gun slinger
Exactly, I'm not sure people have watched Raphinha properly, he has a lot of ability but him and Bruno in the same team and we'd be losing our minds.

We don't need another attacker that treats the ball like a hot potato.

Micheal Olise everyday. That boy is the next big thing. He got greenwood levels of talent. Beyond Micheal, maybe raphinha, or anthony.

Has he really though? Maybe I was wrong about him playing mostly on the right I haven't checked but I'd imagine it's a pretty even split between right/left.

As for the second part I rate Sancho very highly, that's why.

Despite me actually saying they were capable of playing there. Both have played large parts of their careers there, my point was while they were at the club they were better options on the right than the likes of Lingard and Mata who were shoved out there to fill a gap, much like Sancho and Rashford now.
Yes, as I said one season playing mostly from the right followed by two seasons mostly from the left, and then mostly left this season.

Rating Sancho highly just makes it worse. We have a brilliant left winger who just isn't the same player on his natural side - you wouldn't play Hazard, Ribery, Ronaldinho or Mane on the right, yet all of them spent time on that flank when they were younger before establishing themselves and showing just how much quality they had. Sure, players of that quality would be better than a Lingard/ Mata on our right flank but then every one of them would be our best player on the left and it wouldn't be worth the drop in their performances to accomodate lesser players. Same with Sancho, same with Di Maria and Alexis Sanchez - they are capable of playing on the right in the same way Rashford is, and have had significant playing time out there again like Rashford or Mata has. Using them down the right is very much them 'shoved out there to fill a gap' too.

To be fair, under certain circumstances I would be happy to see Sancho on the right, but not when he has began to show his true qualities on his favoured side, has been our best player recently and with no-one else anywhere near as exciting to come in on the left, as well as not having the kind of barnstorming attacking right back that would allow Sancho to still show his qualities on the right.

Having left footed attacker would be beneficial to open up spaces especially in RW position. Personally I think we have too many right footed attackers (our left footed one is a rapist unfortunately) and that makes us predictable and too one dimentional in attack. Raphinha is my pick. Hopefully Leeds goes down so we can get him. Plus he is Bruno's friend and ex teammate so at least they already have a decent chemistry from the get go.

Amad for me once he gets up to speed at Rangers or Pellistri under a new manager should tear it up.

This sums up my worry about signings a right winger. the most exciting wingers out there at the moment from what I have seen.....are all predominantly on the left Neto, Sulemana, Doku for example.

People saying Sancho is left sided I agree with from viewing him this season....but ELanga? I thought he has looked good on the right when switching and what about our youngsters Amad and Pellestri. Neither look ready but these are players shouldnt be forgotten.

Maybe a real quality left sided player and looking at Sancho or the others or wingers switching as they often do currently could be the answer, or maybe round pegs square holes again

As long as we don't buy a left footed winger, I will always believe the RW is neglected
We've already bought a left footed winger and not really gave him a look in so we are trying our hardest to neglect that area. Just go with Diallo next season and concentrate on bringing in a holding midfielder and striker.

Given Sancho is a winger/playmaker hybrid we should be looking at someone on the right who is a tad more explosive and has a bigger goal threat.

I should have added "and keep him in the squad"

The problem with Raphina is you'd get the Bruno syndrome with him of being too direct. Not sure those two could play together.

Saint Max I still think would be dynamite for a bigger club but I'd assume he'd be way overpriced
Bruno and Raphinha litelarry played together at Sporting so I doubt that would be much of a problem with their playing styles.

It's not that I recommend him but Dembele and Barcelona seem like two oppositions to the point where there is rumours he is close to even being a free transfer.

If that's that's case then you just have to take a chance and hope he can go back to being the Dortmund version of him again.

Come on mate Di Maria (340 games at RW) and Sanchez (in his prime) were infinitely better players on the right than Rashford or Mata have ever shown to be capable of in that position. But that's off topic so let's leave that discussion there.

My point is right now this season Sancho is by far our best option on the right (it's the reason he was signed) so that's no surprise nor is the fact we have no one else in the squad really capable of playing there to any decent level (again no surprise). For the balance of the side Sancho should be on the right with Rashford/Elanga working from the left which is where Rashford especially seems way more comfortable playing. Shoving Rashford out on the right with Dalot or Wan Bisssaka behind him is basically setting up to have zero creativity or threat down one side of the pitch which shows in our recent matches. When was the last time we scored from a cross from the right?

At no point have I claimed that Di Maria, Sanchez or Sancho were inferior to Rashford on the right - but who is more effective on that side is not the only thing to consider. If we had either of Di Maria or Sanchez in their prime just now I would absolutely not want to waste them on our right.

Rashford is completely out of sorts and looked poor on the left earlier in the season too, and I'm not sure what you've seen in Elanga's senior games to suggest he is far more comfortable on the left than right either? Sancho is playing well and has been our best attacker and one of the best performers overall for a while now. Station him on the right and his level will drop considerably and I'm not seeing the left-sided option who justifies that.

Moussa Diaby. The only sensible choice.
He looks good counter-attacking, but when I do see them play (which isn't often) he looks better at linking up and running off ball then a dominant dribbler or great against a team sitting deep.

But yeah, I'd be optimistic about him, Olise, Dembele or Raphinha.

I'm not saying you did mate, that point was just in reference to the bolded part of your last post.

My overall point is about balance within the team, we have nothing on the right AWB/Dalot provide virtually zero attacking threat. Rashford is woefully out of form and I personally don't see how him regaining anything like his top form on the right wing as I don't remember him ever having a good game out there even when he was in good form. Shaw and Telles both provide at least some width and creativity from the left so for me it would be worth trying Sancho on the right to make up for AWB/Dalot and hope Rashford can rediscover some form in his natural position.

Btw the way the answer to the question in my last post was Sancho vs Leeds, the last time we scored from a cross from the right. You'd probably have to go back months to find the last one before that.

Not sure about Raphinha. As others have mentioned, he's too much like Bruno in that he just seems to roll the dice and go for the high risk, high reward option every time he gets the ball. It'd be like having Bruno and Mkhi in the same team. Here's his passing stats (numbers next to the bars are percentiles vs other wingers and attacking mids in top leagues) - bottom 3% for pass completion makes Bruno look like a paragon of precision.

Been a fan of Antony. He moved to Ajax in the same summer when we bought Amad. I often wondered why not him as he looked more ready than Amad even then. Not writing off Amad. How about a swap with Ajax with us giving them 20-30m of cash and Amad ?

And he has played most of his senior career on the left...

I honestly don't see how anyone can think he can be nearly as effective on the right.

Also, Di Maria and Alexis Sanchez were, similarly, not right wingers, hence being moved away from that area. Both, as well as Sancho, were played out of position on the right earlier in their career. Basically in the same way Rashford has been.
18/19 season
RW - 33 appearances, 11 goals, 16 assists.
LW - 10 appearances, 2 goals, 4 assists.

19/20 season
RW - 21 appearances, 8 goals, 11 assists.
LW - 11 appearances, 8 goals, 7 assists.
AM - 12 appearances, 4 goals, 2 assists.

20/21 season
RW - 14 appearances, 5 goals, 9 assists.
LW - 15 appearances, 9 goals, 8 assists.
AM - 7 appearances, 1 goal, 2 assists.

Let's not pretend he's useless on the right here.

Anyone for Bowen?
The numbers (g/a) he’s putting up are actually fantastic.
However, like with Rice, you’d expect West Ham to take us to the cleaners for him. For that reason Raphinha or Antony probably edges him IMO, as we can’t neglect central midfield in the summer once again.

Nah mate, don't take it personally but I'm sick of British overrated players in this team.

Bowen is a decent player, but he will cost a fortune and will turn to instant shit when he comes here.

I think we need a very silky player, a very good dribbler as this will compensate for obvious drop in form he'll have once he comes here. We need someone who can carry the ball with no effort, even when United is not playing that well.
I just hope the club goes for an established player and that position is covered for 4-5 years.

His stats on the right are great but he's quite watered down when he plays there for us and it's easy to see. Could be because the RB isn't good enough to support him or there isn't enough space like in the Bundesliga.
