Lindelof had longstanding back issues last season...he just didn't have a PR team with a direct contact to influential journalists.
Good point, actually. Lindelof was playing through back pain for a while, much like Rashford.

I’ve always wanted our fans to be more vocal in their disapproval but targeting individual players like they did to Maguire and Rashford last night isn’t it
Why not? Without the fans, they wouldn't be self-entitled millionaire footballers. It's like those on TV complaining about the press. If you put yourself out there and don't try your best, then don't be surprised if you get told the truth.

It’s counterproductive I think, just shattering any small bit of confidence they have left.

Football fans are so fuuny i swear

That’s not funny at all. It’s sad :(

With all the great work he did during lockdown for hungry kids and the optimism around his long term injuries getting sorted the stage was set for him to become one our most popular legends ever. To see this degree of animosity between him and the fans before the season’s out is heartbreaking.

Rashford’s work for the less fortunate should be rightfully applauded. However, this has nothing to do with his garbage performances on the field and he should be told if he’s playing turd.

There is nothing wrong with what the fans said right? They only said ‘’come on Rashford‘‘. ‘’After that performance’’. Come on, he was fecking shit. I want to meet him in person and tell him in his face that he’s been playing shit. If he doesn’t realise he’s playing shit then he’s in delusional and we are in serious trouble with these deluded players. Is this the reason why some of these players don’t improve because they think they had done good enough.

“After that performance…” and a bit of fair criticism does NOT warrant a middle finger and asking fans to fight at all. He needs to realise that every single United fan contributes to his exorbitant wages that he did absolutely nothing to earn aside from 2 debut goals and a decent penalty in a game he was utterly useless in, once again.

Get rid. Not good enough, and rubbish on-pitch attitude.

Can understand frustration of another CL exit however flipping off supporters that waited around in the cold after the game just shows Rashford off as stupid

I’m even starting to feel like this man of the people thing was just a very well orchestrated/opportunistic exercise in PR and brand building and the facade is crumbling. Sure he might care about hungry kids. Only the worst kind of arsehole wouldn’t. It’s easy be gracious and giving in success. The real test of a person is what are they are actually like day to day and behind the PR.These days he certainly doesn’t seem humble or down to Earth or that he cares about the club or the fans at all

Before this season I never would have had him down as a bad influence, but after flipping a fan and walking over to him like a hard man, in succession to all the other toxicity surrounding him like his PR team constantly pampering his ego, and his rancid footballing displays, I for one would gladly cash in on him. But unfortunately I don’t think squad depth will allow for that if Cavani, Lingard and Ronaldo all go in the Summer.

He should be sold. Who the heck does he think he is above criticism? He was horrible. The fans have a right to say what they want to say. He didn't say anything bad or discriminating to him.

Oh dear, doesn't look good for Rashford at all. The fans are at his back, he seems completely out of confidence on the pitch and he does seem to have a thin skin as well now.
We don't know what he had the hear in the station from the stands, maybe it's understandable but after such a performance he should stay professional. This makes him look like a real bellend.

I can get my head around it...
Mason Greenwod abusing womens and will probably never play again for our Club.
Marcus Rashford showing United Fans the middle finger for nothing and seems to have lost all love for the club and it's supporters and visc versa.
How could this develop like this? It's heartbreaking really.

Its funny in the sense that they’re hurling abuse at him and the moment he walks over to confront them they all decide to shut up.

Defo wasn’t abuse. And I’m not surprised people quietened down after hearing how confrontational he sounded. Only Rashford looks bad in this.

How has his form ended up like this?
Can understand frustration of another CL exit however flipping off supporters that waited around in the cold after the game just shows Rashford off as stupid
Why wait after the game to try and abuse a player(s)?

Not surprised Rashford reacted. Regardless of performances or form he is still most likely annoyed with himself, too.

Hope there's no one spineless enough to try and label that as abusive. The only abuse there was Rashford's response.

I don't think saying "what an awful performance" or "after that performance" warrants an aggressive swearing player offering to punch the fan. Come on now, Rashford has clearly lost it.

Please get rid. Bang average with purple patches (which have now dried up)

Ive said it before and I’ll say it again, if he wasn’t ‘one of our own’ he’d have been shipped out ages ago

I can tolerate poor (playing, on field) form but poor attitude and lack of effort? Abusing fans as well? What a huge arse hole he is turning out to be. So, so disappointing.

Can't tell with the effort he's showing on the pitch.

Why not? Hypothetically, if De Gea makes 10 saves, but we lose, you want fans to boo De gea as well?

Wow there's no PR spinning that.
A 10 page apology letter. Starting from how he was a kid. How his family struggled. How the club means so much to him and his family. How fans are his life and all. And how hurt he was to drop out of the CL and how emotions got better of him. Lot of sobbing and then several apologies.

I still maintain he has been dreadfully managed and it isn’t all his fault.

He came into the the first team as striker with clear strikers positioning instincts.

He has then spent most of the following seasons in and out of the team, playing mostly as a winger, under Mourinho regularly a defensive winger. A position he never looked as natural in as he did when he first came in and played up front, so he has had to adapt to that role, which he has done ok but never really looked natural, especially on the right. And along the way he seems to have completely forgot how to play though the middle.

All the while he has been playing first under a manger (Mourinho) who famously does not train attacking play and is is on record as saying he prefers to work with experienced players. Then under Ole who by all accounts his attacking coaching consisted of “go out and express yourself”. So it’s absolutely no surprise he hasn’t progressed.

Add to that Rashford is not the only player who has come in and not developed at all at the club, trying to name a player who has come to the club and improved over the past 6 years is almost impossible.

So yeah Rashford hasn’t developedand it’s probably time for him to move on to a mid table team, but the club has to accept at least as much of the blame for the way his development has been handled as Rashford himself.

Ideally, yeah. It’s illogical but it makes me cringe when I see any player being singled out by fans in or out of the stadium.
