Of course Ronaldo is a big problem. You only have to see his petulant behaviour when he got rested by Rangnick and fecked back to Portugal to know that he is having a detrimental effect on the dressing room. Ronaldo cares about scoring goals, everything else is peripheral. The guy used to be the best player in the world but now he is far from that. I don't envisage a situation where United progress with Ronaldo in the team.

Question: In a hypothetical world where City poaches Ronaldo next season if he leaves, would the people who want him gone be angry?

and I’m not saying he’s going to City. I know it’s very unlikely. I just want to know the thought process in this thread at the moment.
Assuming we're talking about a situation where the club has agreed he can leave and not him going on strike or something then I wouldn't hold it against him personally.

I cannot see why they'd want him at this point though. I think if he's leaving we're not talking about him going to one of the world's top clubs. Probably not one of the world's top leagues.

Let's be honest, this team was never this lazy and his lack of workrate off the ball has contributed to it.
100%. When you look at Jota and Liverpool he sets the tone for the rest of team. Ronaldo doesn't work and the rest follow.

I can't wait till he leaves.

? He has always been this way, certainly not affected his trophy cabinet. His dropped level is unrelated to this

Ronaldo can do no wrong in some posters eyes.
Breaks a kids phone “nothing story”. Has been an average signing “bad move for Ronaldo, not the club”

I don't think he's going anywhere next season.

No club is paying those wages. Especially a club in the CL.

Can only hope for 1 last renaissance season to maybe deliver a FA cup

I'd be delighted that they'd broken from a well established transfer policy and taken the load off us, compromising Guardiola's pretty much all tactical principles in the process. And I would expect Liverpool to win the league by 5-10 points.

I'd bet that Rashford's hump this year has been about Ronaldo.
He was like this before Ronaldo and even if it was then he's not mentally strong enough to be a winner or serious footballer. Having a season long strop because of a teammate? Playing like a 6 year old with one leg shorter than the other?

His energy at the end of the game was amazing.

The way he whacked that phone out of the kids hands was breathtaking.

Top scorer, one of best in the world... poor support to get him the ball.

Yup terrible idea.
He hasn't been that for a few years now. Some of you still live in this fantasy world where CR is at it's peak and completely ignore all the negatives.

What? How is a grown man venting his frustrations by breaking the property of a literal child a nothing story? He's absolutely pathetic and petulant.

Absolutely awful human and almost as bad a footballer these days, any team with him in it can get fecked as far as I'm concerned
Mate, you better write to your local MP about this.

We are 7th in the league and were out of all competition in March. We made him our number one player and paid him £500k a week. What part of the idea was successful for the team?

And the one game he performs well in about a month, his army will spam this thread saying this is why he's the GOAT, too good for us and why he'd have 40 goals in a better team.

I'm convinced some posters watch him with the intention of only looking at the positives he does. His first 2.5 months were satisfactory to good but the last 3.5 months have been truly awful.

Lets rewind a little bit. He was brought in so we can compete and win something. He was the cherry on top but then the fachts caught up with results and we find ourselves in a position where we should be last season, should have finished outside of top 4 under normal circumtances and the team is not even clear or finished yet! we dont need a cherry on top, we dont need Ronaldo.

Considering how poor our attacking alternatives are and the fact that we would’ve likely not signed anyone else had he not joined, the idea ensured we didn’t embarrass ourselves more than we currently have in the league.

Yep, that's what they had planned at the start of the season.

"We've bought Ronaldo so we don't embarrass ourselves anymore than we will from this position of 2.33 points per game in the first 3. With Ronaldo arriving, the team luckily can now get 1.57 points per game! And thanks to this great goalscorer after scoring 2.33 goals in our first 3 games, we will now be able to score an amazing 1.5 goals per game in the next 28 games. He has truly lifted our team to another level!"

If you tried to sell to me at the start of the season that Ronaldo "doesn't do much from general play but guarantees goals"... then fails to score in 17 of his 25 league games. I don't think I would have been calling it a successful signing?

If Ronaldo didn’t join, with the other current attacking options (or lack of); where do you think we’d be sitting in the table and what would our CL campaign have looked like? I’d really like to know.

He broke a kid's phone and offers them a ticket to see deplorable United at OT for "sportsmanship". Pathetic. Imagine that's your kid, you'd want to punch him.

It's a completely other world of hypotheticals to be honest, where possibly Ole doesn't get sacked, Bruno has a star season, there's better team unity, we can't know. The start of the season had begun like the previous season. Flawed but still a reasonably high level. I would say in contention for 4th. You think we'd be worse than 7th? I don't know how it could be any worse than it currently is. Ronaldo has failed to score in 8 of his last 10 league games so what exactly is he rescuing us from? A 2-0 defeat to Everton with his great defensive work?

As for the CL campaign, out in the last 16, like we did. Would have had enough for Atalanta. Atalanta got 1 point out of 2 games with Villarreal and drew with Young Boys. Only got 5 points out of a possible 12 in the games not counting United. Would have beaten Young Boys at home if we needed to and done enough to finish ahead of Atalanta.

Not sure what’s worse, smashing a kids phone or offering him tickets to watch Utd

Was a disastrous signing, and obviously stupid at the time. He’d just spent 3 years making Juventus worse. Used to be a great player though, to be fair to him.

I think the best money you could spend this summer is paying him off and taking hits on Harry and AWB.

If he would be happy being a super sub and not playing every single game he’d be fine but he demands to play week in week out, full 90 minutes and he’s just not the same player anymore (as to be expected). It can’t be like that we need something different.

must be one hell of a shock though, from being here with the old united to this.

Yeah the awful human being that donated millions to hospitals fighting Corona virus, took a pay cut during lockdown, sold his golden boot to fund the children of Gaza, sold his balon D’Or’s to raise millions for children fighting leukaemia, giving his win bonus’ to UNICEF, donated £5m to the people of Nepal after an earthquake, donating millions to the children of Syria, donated to cancer centres in Portugal, donating blood regularly, paying for children’s cancer treatment.

I don’t think Ronaldo is an awful human being, but you know there are some truly awful human beings who donated a lot to charity…

As we all know, no one who does charity work can be a bad person.

Who knew that the smashing of a child's phone would undo millions in charity
It was more a point about not being so naive as to think charity work makes someone a Saint. I would've thought by now people wouldn't be stupid enough to do that whole cult of celebrity worshipping thing, as we've all see how dangerous it can be. But I guess there are still plenty of stupid people around who enjoy being sheep.

Bringing Jimmy Savalle up in a Ronaldo thread this place has hit a new low.
Just saying it’s stupid to use charity work as a marker of a good person. That’s not what people are judged on, it doesn’t have any relevance in this thread, much like Jimmy Saville…the tangent was created by you.
