Gaz. Is a Mewling Quim.
McClaren has a good track record and works well with Ten Haag, not sure why anybody would have an issue with him coming in.

Van Persie would be far more worrying, but people seem annoyed that he won’t come because dumb.

If ETH can get a tune out of Maguire, Pogba and Rashford and adds a couple of good additions like Rice and Winks, as well as get squad fitness levels up, he could have United back to being competitive and even challenging. McClaren was on our coaching staff for the Treble season.

I think success next season under Ten Hag would be 2nd or 1st in the league, FA or League cup, and europa final/win. Possible especially if Varane stays fit.

Thinks are looking up.
I presume this post is a wind up but well done

Tbh as ETH is a coaching-orientated manager I couldn't really give a shit who he brings with him. It's not like an Ole situation where more was being delegated so there was greater weight on the coaches' expertise.

Also the reports have pretty consistently been that he isn't bothered about bringing many of his own staff with him, even back when he was being linked with Spurs, so he likely expected to work with club staff anyway.

No 4 in that piece regarding regularly playing average players.

The scenes on the Caf when another manager plays Fred and especially McT!

Looks like we're at a crossroads here. Accept his demands, take the risk with him and actually try to be an elite football club, or tell him to do one and persist being a commercial club that sinks further into mediocrity. Hopefully the board realise how hugely hostile the fanbase will be if they regress to the latter.

It's done deal don't panic they can't even name the major Bundesliga club but expect people to believe Ten Hag would take that job if he declines United Offer , not buying these developments it looks more and more like media doing what it does best creating news out of thin air .

Perhaps it's Dortmund. I don't think Bayern are looking to get rid of Nagelsman at the moment.

If we miss out on ETH, the fans - who overwhelming want him to be the next manager, and already despise the board/Glazers - will be riotous. Therefore, United are in no position to play hard ball.

No way United PR team would sign off on such crazy demands. The club runs on Rashford's PR and Shaw's NFTs

Hmm. Would look awful if we failed to get him in at this stage. Still worry it’ll be Poch.

So people keep saying yet seemingly all the reliable journalists like Ornstein are saying it isn’t—and that ETH has demands he wants met first. Clearly it is not done

Players out of contract in:

2022: Lee Grant, Juan Mata, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Tahith Chong, Edinson Cavani

2023: David de Gea, Tom Heaton, Phil Jones, Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot, Nemanja Matic, Fred, Marcus Rashford, Cristiano Ronaldo

This is a golden opportunity for a reset with ETH. I can't see why we wouldn't agree to his demands.

um

A major Bundesliga team could only mean Dortmund since Bayern is not going to fire Nagelsmann. In Dortmund's stead I'd swap Rose for Ten Hag but hard to imagine that they'd do it. Rose isn't doing too well but somewhat still too good to fire him after one season.

Would be excitong to see Ten Hag in the Bundesliga but probably even more exciting to see him at United, being able to build his own team.

Hasn't the general consensus over recent years been that we need to modernise and take a step back from giving the coach full control?

Yes but I don't think he wants full control. Just wants assurances he'll be backed and have a good clear out of the dead-wood.

He knows half of these players aren't suited to his style of play.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
If you’re a footballing operation who are accused of not caring about footballing success, being totally incompetent and prioritising commercial revenues instead - and you’re about to hire a new manager but it can’t be announced for a few weeks - then I’d absolutely set the narrative that the new manager is making footballing demands to ensure everything is right behind the scenes. When he joins it makes you look good. That’s what the cynic in me thinks is happening…we would have shut this down if he wasn’t coming.

As it sounds it's not necessary about 'his' squad but the fact that he sees United's players unfit for a pressing system which these days is almost a basic requirement for successful football. That's also confirming what has been reported as Rangnick's opinion on the team and why he adapted the playing style a bit. So that overhaul should be in United's very own interest.

Sure... if we had a proper structure set up already.

Our problem isn't giving the coach full control, it's finding a coach who can handle that level of control. He would be our first modern manager still in or entering his prime years.

I buy what Ten Hag is reportedly saying, but I don't buy it being an issue for us.

The majority of our older players are into the final year(s) of their contract and will be replaced by younger players anyway.

Its not like the board refuses to buy young players, we do it all the time. Problem is they've been the wrong players. I see their being no issue with us buying players that suit Ten Hag. We've done that for every manager since Fergie.

Youth. Courage. Success. We’ve even got the branding already sorted.

I think one of his conditions could be Ronaldo to not be involved next season. That is going to be a problem. With the wages he is on, we have to take a hit.

I'm not sure it's only about the older players. He might also refer to players like Bruno, Pogba, Wan-Bissaka, Shaw, Maguire and Rashford for instance.

Wonder how much it would cost to pay him off. I think you’re talking up to 50 million, probably. I guess there’d be a way of getting him off to somewhere else where they could pay some of that. I don’t see any top clubs wanting to go for that though.
