70-90m is just the opening gambit, £50m would be fair for the market. So I imagine he'll go for around £60m if he does go.
So are you using Sancho or Diaz as a price guide?

Either really. Sancho was always going to be a little bit more expensive, his age, fact that he's English, his record. Also compare what we payed for DVB from them or what de Jong or de light went for.

A little bit?????
Diaz looks a better player already and he is half the price!
Up to Ten Hag I suppose as he should be able to pick who he wants and I hope he has a better eye for a player than what we have been subjected to for quite a few years now.

Diaz is also 3 years older and remember he's joining an already amazing side. Pretty sure Sancho would looks miles better in Liverpools side!

I think hell bring someone who knows his training methods, so DVB will come back, someone from the Ajax side and probably some other random squad signing.

Offer Ajax VDB plus £25 million for Antony and also go in for Mazraoui on a free and Timber who’d most likely cost £35 million and that’s three problem positions sorted for £60 million and three players Ten Hag knows fit his style/system.

VDB is the exact type of player we aren't missing though.

If Ten Hag wants him then bring him, I'm all in for exmanagers bringing old club players to their new club.

It worked wonderfully for Haller and Ajax.

He'd be great for us. Could even do a part-exchange with Donny?

Maybe I'm wrong since but for a Brazilian left footed winger he doesn't seem to have much of a "wow/skilful" factor.

You’re wrong…

The only acceptable time to go show a skills compilation is in this scenario.

I know it's not as simple as all that, but if ten Hag wants him then I fail to see why it wouldn't happen. United need a Greenwood replacement anyway. Have a good relationship with Ajax. And are clearly a logical next step for the player.

Looks like the kind of player I’d absolutely love, skill, pace, trickery! I do think for his sake he should join someone else though, there’s a massive part of this fanbase that can’t stand flair players and will hound him if we don’t perform as a team. Pogba, Martial etc have a **** of people that can’t stand them despite the fact they have been hugely entertaining players for us over the years. For now we’d be better with technical players with less flair that will rile up the fanbase less. Sad but it’s just true for now.

Looks absolutely quality there. It gives me nightmares though - as I remember watching similar clips of Depay after he signed, convinced he was going to be brilliant here.

Thanks for sharing that a good little read.

The only intention of sharing such footage is to show he does have a high level of skill. While that is enjoyable it’s not the main reason I like him for our squad.

Let’s be really honest, how many times have you watched him play?

He most certainly has the “wow/skilful” factor.

Could be his rubbish performances in the PL. Possibly.
He played well under Ten Hag - I’d imagine he’d be confident to turn his form around and use him properly. Nothing we have seen so far resembles anything like his form at Ajax. He’s been shit to this point anyway.

I doubt he’d sell him first summer here.

The reason those 2 have people who can't stand them is because of constantly not being available, endless performances looking "disinterested", shit work rate, etc. I was a huge Martial fan for a while, but eventually you give up on them if they don't keep at it.

I know what you mean though, flair players will always have their haters as they are inconsistent (like with Nani), but the second they get that consistency they win everyone over. And if they keep a good work rate off the ball, then people will cut them slack.

Hopefully, unlike the Sancho signing last summer, we actually bring in a attacking fullback to give him a outlet if we do get his signature.

i think he would be a very good signing considering we lost greenwood and don't have a left footed attacking player

He'd be good for us, but I don't think we can afford with the rebuild we need and money we'll be given to spend.

I agree now both have genuine reasons to dislike them and want them gone. But even in their very best spells people were so eager to jump on them after one bad performance. The cynic in me can think of one other factor that will work in Anthony’s favour but let’s save that one…

The benefit of this guy and anyone else ETH decides to bring with him is that they know the craic. Along with Donny, it would be good to have a pocket of players who can help normalise and bed in ETHs approach to training etc.

If there ever was a Fergie signing, this guy is it. He reminds me so much of Nani in the sense that the skill is so outrageously good you wonder if the brain can keep up with the feet.

I think Raphinha is a much more mature and accomplished player than Antony is.
I’m going out on a limb here I think Antony is the better player my only issue is price. But for a left footed young winger I don’t think we’ll find a better fit for a Ten Haag side (for obvious reasons).

It’s a small sample size but…

Antony in the champions league is performing at a higher quality than Raphinha in the PL and by quite a way. I really like both but I’d prefer Antony.

Yeah I would prefer him but either one would be good for the right price.
Raphinha would also be much more expensive coming from Leeds.

He's likely going to Barcelona for a lot cheaper than he would to United
I agree with both posts as regards price. To think Leeds purchased him from Rennes for only 17M simply because their hand was forced to get him as an alternative to Daniel James! United should've sold James and should've been looking at the likes of Raphina. Amazing how united conducts business

Interesting comparisons but is is indeed too small a sample size. My issue with Antony is his petulance/penchant for the theatrical and showboating. His domestic stats in Holland are underwhelming for a player getting as much game time as he does in a dominant side to boot. Richarlison by comparison has faired better in a struggling Everton in a much tougher league for instance.

He would have to be more direct and cut out the nonsense to make a difference on English shores. Depay learned that lesson too late but it benefited him post United. I think Antony wouldn't be too dissimilar to Almiron at Newcastle. An obvious talent that needs more than just talent to cut it at a higher level
