Can't believe United fans ever claimed to be the biggest club in the world when there's Real Madrid around

I hate them, but I respect them. Their commitment to the highest standards is nothing but incredible. And as a club, they are purely about the football, which is what it should always be about. For me, it's Bayern and Real as the two greatest continental clubs, in terms of how they are run, the players they get, and the fanbase. Of the Spanish duopoly, it was Barcelona that I rooted for as a kid (mainly because of Romario and Stoichkov), but over the years I've become so turned off by the Mes Que un Club nonsense, and their complete financial incompetence. Real is undoubtedly the biggest club in the world. They have a certain magic about them.

So it's respect, peppered with hate. Hateful respect.

Jammiest team of the century.
This, how do they keep getting away with it. VAR was brought in essentially because of the flukey calls they kept getting. This year they've been the better team in 3 of their last 12 halfs of football and are still through. This Real team is more likeable though without that prick Ramos at the back.

Still a proper club. Shame the same can't be said of United.

They're the kings of club football.

Would be nice if our fanbase and board had their standards.

Hopefully we slowly return to Europe's elite.

They have a terrible entitled fanbase. They have achieved more than the rest, but it doesn't make them the perfect club to play for, far from it.

Many will say the same of our 99 side.

This Madrid team is similar to the treble winning team in their incredible comebacks and never say die attitude.

Which likely explains the high expectations of the club and their incredible successes, a stark contrast to our meek and forgiving fan base.

I won't lie, their fans must feel so pretty damn lucky to support such a team. Their personality in big occasions is unbelievable. You can believe in them even in their worst years to turn the tables and win major trophies. Their standards as a club are insane.

Really the best club to support in the world. Nothing beats the feeling of truth and faith in your club to win it no matter what.

Yeah, Man United is the best club to play for, since you can achieve and win feck all with us, let down the fans countless times, and still get a giga salary every week and new giga contracts every time your contract runs down even if you are shit. Lives like a king while having to do feck all, and what not, some fans will actually take your side and defend you saying the manager should be sacked for not building the team around you.

Meanwhile, imagine playing for Madrid. You are shit you get thrown out of the window quickly. No fans will tolerate your mediocrity. Must be a hard life coping with such insane standards.

Easier to chill and enjoy life at Man United.

Are you honestly blaming recent failures on us having a loyal fanbase? The Madrid fans booed Ronaldo ffs, arguably their best ever player. Thanks I'd take our fanbase in a heartbeat.

That entitled fanbase likely plays a part in their success.

They never would have accepted someone like Ole managing for 3+ years. They would have hounded him out. Even Jose's post-match presser after our loss to Sevilla should have had him booed for the rest of his United stint.

Cruel or not, there is no fairness in winning. You have to be brutally efficient to win trophies.

We had great success under the right people managing this club. The fans were never in charge of anything, to think that adding a toxic fanbase to our current situation will help is just nuts, it'd only make matters worse.

Who said we aren't a toxic fan base already? How do you even know we aren't? If anything a lot of signs prove we are pretty damn toxic. Just looking at any discussions between fans supporting a player/manager and others who don't approve the opinion shows how much toxicity we can reach.

The difference between us And Madrid fans is they don't accept mediocrity while some of our fans will accept it as long as they like the person in charge, and will go as far as to defend such mediocrity or give excuses for it.

United are the only team I support, but if Real beat Liverpool…United will still be the only team I support.

Would love it if Real beat Liverpool though. Hala Madrid etc etc etc

Pretty much.

It's actually sad how much we've accepted mediocrity lately.

I mean I'm seeing more and more people on here saying that Ole shouldn't have been sacked and that he should have seen out the season. Sums it up.

Have they ever fielded an all Spanish side or have they always had to buy the best players in the world to be successful?

Also let's not forget that madrid over the past two decades spent a lot of money on world class players,

There's a difference between online discussions which can always be heated, specially when you have millions of fans, and how we support the club during matches. I'm not a local supporter, but I've always appreciated how great our fans are during games, home and away. Nobody is accepting mediocrity, but it's not in our hands, it's that simple. Madrid fans booing their players isn't something to be admired, and it's not the reason they're successful. They're successful because they have a good football setup and over the years they've spent a fortune on world class players, which got them in a lot of debt by the way, while united were cursed with the glazers, and bankers running the club post fergie. Both set of fans had nothing to do with the success of failures of both clubs. Do you think Liverpool are successful now because their fans are less loyal and not as supportive as they used to be? No, they're successful because they have the right people at the club.

Easy to say the fans you are part of is great. The only people who can judge if these fans are good or not are outsiders. Pretty sure Madrid fans also think they are great.

I honestly see nothing special about our home support and Old Trafford atmosphere can be dead in many matches. A lot of other clubs have better atmosphere at home and their stadium feels far more threatening to play at, far more than Old Trafford which I doubt clubs fare to play in it that much.

And supporting players while they are shit, stealing a living and letting the fans continuously isn't loyalty and definitely not a sign of great support. Our players deserve to be booed.

The fans aren't the reason we are shit but the culture of accepting mediocrity and giving excuses in it runs deep in the club and our fans, instead of facing it, they embrace it even more.

Our fans give the players way too much power and make them feel Invincible with the kind of defense, support and excuses they keep giving them.

And Woodward wanted to prevent players from going there.
Nevermind salaries and trophies, in order to do that he needs to manipulate Manchester's weather and create artificial beaches.

Players like Ronaldo, Zidane and Figo may be the stars of Madrid, but players like Nacho and Vazquez are the soul of Madrid. No Carvajal - lets use Nacho, no Militao - lets use Nacho, no Alaba - lets use Nacho, No Marcelo or Mendy - lets use Nacho. Nacho was an absolute rock today.
