Celtics will be NBA champion this year, their defense is ridiculous. GSW players don’t like the physical style of defending from Celtics.

Boston in 6 or 7

When the play offs started I thought whoever got out of that Boston/Milwaukee series (I presumed Boston would beat Brooklyn) were big favourites to win the title but the physical state of a couple of the Celtics players plus the lack of execution late in key games against the Bucks and the Heat have put me off them despite how good they still are defensively. I trust the Warriors more to execute when it matters so will pick them in 6.

Alright let's say he only played in 3 out of the 6 games but he played pretty good minutes in those 3 and they still got out rebounded by the Dubs in 2 of them.

Forget Memphis though. Look at the regular season as a whole where we've got a much larger sample size. For the season Boston were 4th in rpg at 46.2 and the Dubs were 7th at 45.5.

People assume because Golden State are a smaller team they get massively out rebounded by everyone. It's just not true. Coincidentally in these playoffs the Dubs are 4th at 44.8 rpg and the Celtics are 7th at 42.8 rpg.
Yep great points - the Celtics have been pretty bad at rebounding these playoffs, which is concerning (and also in large part probably attributable to Timelord's spotty availability).

I think the only issue with using regular season stats though is that the Warriors are much more likely to lean on small lineups to a greater extent in the playoffs - so that might be a complication.

Certainly I didn't mean to come across as saying the Celtics would be guaranteed to have a huge edge in rebounding - just that I think it might be a small advantage and in a series as balanced as this one (at least on paper), that could possibly be meaningful.

Either way appreciate the chat mate - I'm sure you're shitting bricks right now just like I am but it's been a pleasure going back and forth in this thread! Hope we get a good series either way - should GS prevail I can't promise I won't be at least somewhat bitter but your team is incredibly likeable and I wouldn't begrudge you the title at all.

Warriors in 6 would be my pick but I would love a game 7 so will say Warriors in 7 because of that.

No NBA ownership group should sell a team now and should wait until 24/25 season to seriously consider it, because that's when the next round of media rights will be negotiated...it's going to be a massive payday for the owners/franchise, and majority of them will see their franchises at their highest watermark...they won't sell for less. If the in-season cup competition is approved, and players continue to get more money, then that makes the league more valuable and that benefits the owners.

Where's my arc, Paulie?

according to paul allen’s trust both blazers and seahawks need to be sold. which is why multiple people have put in bids.

I thought the Warriors would have a bigger lead after 1, Celtics have done well to keep pace in scoring.

Weird game. Warriors should be a lot more ahead by now. I feel Celtics are more of a unit. Only Curry is scoring heavily. Clay and Green need to step up more.

Celtics have been surprisingly excellent defensively. Have stifled warriors completely here. They have become tentative.

Very concerning. Dubs played well for a quarter and a half but then Celtics stepped it up a gear. Definitely worried.

Boston defense is doing what I expected and even better. They are switching very well and getting the Warriors off their spots. Shooting, screens, no path to the rim, and passing lanes are difficult. Great half so far for the neutral!

What a run by Boston, I thought this was over after the 3rd quarter and now they're up.

Celtics 6 of 6 from 3 in the fourth. Up three now after starting the quarter down 12

All credit to Boston in Game 1! It's a little weird because Boston shot lights out from 3 in the 4th. Horford, Brown, and White carried them. That's an amazing 4th quarter performance from Boston and they elevated their game which the Warriors did not match or come close.

Pretty crazy shooting by Boston in the 4th. Impressive win but I expect a few more twists and turns.

Didnt watch a game, looking at game stat sheet now, was game a bit weird how it looks to me. I mean Tatum 3/17, what happened with death line up and Poole having only 7 attempts.

Celtics stealing homecourt and scoring 40 points in the 4th for a 24 point swing, while Tatum went 3-17 isn't good news for Golden State.

Curry played well, but Klay was pedestrian.

Having said that, I'm not sure other Celtics can sustain their shooting moving forwards.

I picked Golden State before the series and it's still early, but game 2 is a must-win at the moment. You can't drop the first two at home before going to Boston.

Wow awesome result that, definitely makes the series much more edgy than what it seemed.
Still think the Warriors will come back strong though.
As others have said, would like Celtics winning it, but still early days and head says Warriors in 6.

Need one of those analysis vids @TheMagicFoolBus to see what they did so effectively, seems it all went to shite in the 4th quarter for the warriors.

Celtics shot lights out 75% from downtown in the fourth Q, that's an outlier which likely won't happen again in the rest of the series.

Same as Tatum going for 3/17 though. Really enjoyable game and loved Tatum taking a step back to playmake rather than perisiting with his shooting game as it obviously wasn't working.

Horford is such a likeable guy as well, been immense all playoffs

Warriors still take this in 6 or 7. Celtics needed an unrealistic shooting night and warriors offense not being at its best for a decent win.

Wish I was as confident as you, but I've got to say I agree that 4th quarter was probably a bit of an outlier. Even so, it was extremely demoralizing.

Biggest thing that came to mind for me is they started switching a lot more and picking up the high PnR much more aggressively. I also thought Kerr left Porter out for too long.

Also would say that Poole might be a problem for the Warriors. Not sure whether he'll be able to stay on the floor because the Celtics were hunting him relentlessly.

Yeah probably not. But to be fair, the only shot that was closely contested was the one White hit with Steph close by to tie the game at 103 - the Warriors' perimeter defense isn't what it used to be. When both teams go small the Celtics have significant length advantages at every position - Boston can shoot over in every matchup pretty comfortably.

The sky is green today, let’s goooo! :D

As for the game, which I just had the opportunity to watch at 3x. Steph 1st quarter was unreal, yet the Cs kept strong! 3rd quarter, usual Dubs & usual Cs as well. Then… all the cogs worked as a choir and touched the sky.
