He's of the Moutinho/Thiago mould isn't he?
Technically brilliant, tenacious on and off the ball.
Yes.

He adds craft and guile on the ball, along with a high level of intensity off the ball. He's been playing under Sergio Conceçiào at Porto who expects his players to dominate on the ball whilst wanting to press the opponent with ferocity.

He's a player that assists the assister, which really helps in the build up phase.

Vitinha and De Jong are not similar players. De Jong at Ajax is the deepest lying midfielder playing right in front of the defense, modern DM sort of role. Vitinha in comparison is all over the midfield specializing in distribution and controlling the tempo of the game, he's more similar to Thiago and Xavi than De Jong.

People keep asking "where does Bruno play, where does Bruno play" in a Vitinha and De Jong midfield set up with a 3rd more defensive midfielder, the answer is: he doesn't. I had my suspicions with all these links with Eriksen and Vitinha, it's clear that Erik intends to either phase Bruno out of the midfield or the starting XI altogether.

It's the only way these signings would make sense, because like you guys said, playing Bruno as a no.10 with these guys would be suicidal.
So would VDB play in the #10 role? If we dont get Eriksen

Because they know better than us forum dwellers
Hopefully, I'm just curious.
I don't really have any qualms about giving ten hag complete control over the matters, I'm the *manager is god* type of guy probably due to Fergie.

He would most likely play the Schone role next to De Jong in a pivot......the idea that De Jong should be paired with someone physical and defensive it contrary to how ETH set up his Ajax team in 18/19 with De jong in it.

Something like
Vdb
Vintinha
De jong

I think the PSG link is a serious one. Luis Campos has just been installed there as DOF and Vitinha is the type of player he'd go for IMHO. Despite the tweet, I still think Vitinha is a backup option made public to put pressure on Barcelona to sell us our first choice target De Jong. I bet FDJ comes to us and Vitinha goes to PSG. I don't see both working well in our midfield together without someone more physically and defensively robust.

Meeting at Paris Saint-Germain to decide whether to activate Vitinha's release clause - 40 million euros. @FCPORTO won’t trade for anything other than the 40 million
This is the same journo who reported that ten Hag was going to Portugal to meet Mendes regarding Darwin Nunez who was reported to be close to joining Liverpool at the time.

It seems like he's being used again to extract more money out of someone.

That was the first I've seen him get so wrong about a particular update in a long while. He's one of the best journalists around in general and the best for Portuguese transfer news, and I'd take this seriously, especially after Shrager himself highlighted PSG's interest.

I like to use ETH 18/19 as a reference since it became clear we are targeting De Jong who was probably the most important player in that side.
So I'll assume ETH would use Vintinha in the Schone role.
De jong being the first receiver joining the defense to form a back three, this guy play staying central in midfield and the number 10 joining the front three.
When possession is advanced it will be Vintinha and De jong forming the base of midfield allowing the fullbacks to push forward.
I can see it working if we play with a lot of intensity/pressing out of possession.
I'm excited by ETH football ideas.

Campos is their consultant/advisor.

It can work with a lot of intensity and maybe having a inverted fullback for support. But I think it would take a while for ten Hag to coach the team to the required level where we press well as a team.

I agree, funny Ole tried similar ideas but without the pressing and emphasis on technicality and possession play.

It is a little strange how Ten Hag said Pep underestimated the physicality of the league, and now we’re talking about potentially playing Vitinha and De Jong in a midfield two.

Him, De Jong and Eriksen would seem overkill in terms of midfield numbers and similarity of roles.

We love stacking players in the same positions. Can't even count how many left wingers/forwards we had during the past few years so it's about time we switch positions.

We all wanted a new generation manager with modern ideas, didn't we?

FFS. He’s been my dream signing since three days ago when I first heard of him

On a more serious note, this looked to be a fantastic young midfield talent for a very reasonable release clause which is a rare opportunity.

If we rated him we really should have moved earlier on this.

Have to say these are very weird priorities. De Jong and Vitinha seem to perform very similar roles and Ebiowei is yet another talented right winger that won’t be near the first team.
Ebiowei is a free signing, more like prospect signing that doesn't cost transfer fees.

Vitinha may be signed to do Schone's role and tasks.
