Just a little but not too much. Save some excitement for the signings we make during in July aswell.
Should we get De Jong and Vitinha, how do you think both would be used. I don't think it would be wise using both of them in the double pivot, might also be that Bruno is being moved from midfield. Overall the signings suggest we are definitely aiming at controllong possession more.

Think this is clearly a De Jong backup. They literally play the same way (judging on the 10 minute YouTube video I just watched).

This would be an exciting signing. I'd be intrigued to find out how a midfield comprising of both him and De Jong would work. I also wonder who would accompany them in that midfield.

This is the lad I'd be more worried about losing out to City to, if they sell Bernardo. Seems similar.

I’d love a player like him with De Jong in a midfield 3, with a strong and physical midfielder in between them.

You think he could play with De Jong in a double pivot with Bruno at 10?

Meeting at Paris Saint-Germain to decide whether to activate Vitinha's release clause - 40 million euros. @FCPORTO won’t trade for anything other than the 40 million

Hope we get this done. Him and De Jong would be a dream to revamp our midfield. This kid gives me Thiago vibes, highly technical and easy on the eye style.

I'm happy we're after technically gifted players in midfield, we'll need them if we want to exchange more than two passes before giving it away.

Probably not, although I’ve barely watched him. From his videos, I can’t imagine him, De Jong and Bruno playing in the same team. They need a better defender in there.

I hope its true that we're signing both Vitinha and de Jong. And I can see both fitting in to a ten Hag approach where the aim is to exert zonal and positional control, especially in possession.

We have Fred to partner de Jong or if the club have the means, then go out there and sign a positionally disciplined midfielder to complete the midfield.

I think they'd fit into a 4231 quite comfortably.

Where does Vitinha play in that 4231 and where is Bruno?

Yeh we’ve never pursued our first target and our backup at the same time have we. I’ll be back at the end of summer to rub this in and for you to bow to my superior knowledge.

Is this the same journalist that thought Vitinha was a DM? I can't see how him, De Jong and Bruno will work in the same midfield, too lightweight.

Seems more like a box to box 8, as opposed to someone who gets the ball off the CB from the (admittedly little) I've seen.

Bruno would have to be moved then and I fully support that.
Next to Van de Beek.

Looks tenacious and skillful. We desperately lack the latter in midfield.

For me Bruno doesn't fit anywhere, the way he gives the ball away. But if we do sign Vitinha along with de Jong, then I can see ten Hag trying Bruno in a false #9 role, which would suit the team dynamic. And contrary to what some have said, the false #9 position would help Bruno to be more disciplined, and it's a simple role that requires one to repeatedly start high and go towards the ball in deeper areas which can cause a dilemma for the opposition CBs.

I don't believe Bruno should be relied on to be a unchallenged starter in the team and competition for places is required imo.

Vitinha and De Jong are not similar players. De Jong at Ajax is the deepest lying midfielder playing right in front of the defense, modern DM sort of role. Vitinha in comparison is all over the midfield specializing in distribution and controlling the tempo of the game, he's more similar to Thiago and Xavi than De Jong.

People keep asking "where does Bruno play, where does Bruno play" in a Vitinha and De Jong midfield set up with a 3rd more defensive midfielder, the answer is: he doesn't. I had my suspicions with all these links with Eriksen and Vitinha, it's clear that Erik intends to either phase Bruno out of the midfield or the starting XI altogether.

It's the only way these signings would make sense, because like you guys said, playing Bruno as a no.10 with these guys would be suicidal.

He's of the Moutinho/Thiago mould isn't he?
Technically brilliant, tenacious on and off the ball.

If we want both, then I’m trusting ETH knows what he’s doing over the caf. If he thinks it can work, then thats all that matters.

I don't get this, people are saying his playing style is similar to de jong so shouldn't he be a back up in case that falls through?
Why are we going for both according the reports?

Takes up similar positions to those De Jong does at Barca. De Jong tended to play deeper under Ten Hag at Ajax than he has done during his time at Barca, though. I think that FDJ & Vitinha could play together under Ten Hag (together with a third more physical/combative midfielder).

This is the type of player I expected to see us linked with when Ten Hag arrived - someone who excels at keeping possession high up the pitch. If anything, I'd say it is more likely that Eriksen is our alternative option to Vitinha, rather than Vitinha being the backup to De Jong.

Bruno can be wide where his turnovers do less damage.
I follow/support Celtics in the NBA, and watched game 5 of the NBA finals today, so the term "turnover" triggers me

I hope Bruno either improves and doesn't giveaway possession carelessly next season or he is deployed in a false 9 or a wide role, not in CM/CAM role.

Looks like this one will move quickly at least. I know nothing about him, but I like new players, so I’m in

physical/combative midfielder = Scott McTominay ?
that's basically all he is, no?
