Will be difficult to beat as the signing of the summer, all things considered, including price. He’ll certainly be up there, and I for one am gutted we didn’t get him at that price. He and De Jong could compete with anything in the league.

Maybe we should have gone for him.
Nonetheless he'll be a very fine midfielder under the guidance of conte.

I rate him very highly. I've been wanting to go for him for the last couple of seasons even at £50m. I did watch more Brighton games than probably most did on here though over the last couple of seasons hence the elevated view on him.

If we offer them Fred and Scott and the 30 million they paid would they accept?

I like him as a player. Feels like the kind of signing Spurs used to make, and think he'll do well there (especially in Conte's system).

Exactly the sort of player who could have complemented De Jong. He’ll do well at Spurs.

I know he’s highly rated - I rate him as well but why did Brighton let him leave for what’s considered a pittance (£25m) these days? Especially to a rival in the league (not direct rivals, mind). Contract length or the court case?

He was in the final year of his contract and had, I believe, told Brighton he wouldn't sign a new one.

Brighton reportedly paid around £15million for him so I imagine will see it as good business. Especially having Mwepu and Caiceido in central midfield.

Thanks bud. Makes sense being in the final year of his contract. Pity we weren’t in for him. He’d have been a good partner for FDJ.

Shrewd move I reckon he will be one of the best midfield buys of the season across Europe. In terms of breakout midfielders the last 24 months he and Tchouameni top that list.

Great business from Spurs, he’s probably going to be one of the better signings done this summer.

Fantastic at breaking up play and covers the whole pitch, but limited with the ball at his feet. He’ll play a lot of tidy short passes to recycle possession but he’s got no passing range at all, doesn’t contribute in the final third, and isn’t particularly adept under pressure.

Lots of teams need a player like this but they’re not particularly hard to find.

My assumption is that we didn't sign him as we feel that Fred is going to enter beast mode under ETH. Which may well be true.

Who cares? He's a good player and should remain so under Conte. It helps he's going to be protected by a back 3, since that's what he has been accustomed to at Brighton.

I agree. Bargain price for a decent player who will be just 26 in August and with improvement in him.

I don't know if the allegations against him put us off. For what it's worth, I don't think Brighton were concerned about it and Sussex Police raised no objection to his travelling to AFCON.

He's a decent player, but some of the praise in this thread seems over the top. He's not a holding player and his attacking output is mediocre. Brighton is a very well-coached team, so he looks more competent than someone like Fred. But to me they are similar caliber.

Yeah I know a ton of fans on here rate him as well, albeit had reservations about his case but yeah, hope he doesn’t set the world alight at spurs :(

Not a huge fan. Midfielders like him come round quite often.

Remember thinking the same when they signed Wanyama.
Wanyama was bought from Celtic though, proven up there alright and a couple of European games but I think Bissouma is better, maybe not the player to win you a league with de Jong but he's definitely would have been an upgrade to what we have in midfield now

Did he not do a couple of seasons at Southampton first?

Wanyama spent three seasons at Soton in between Celtic and Spurs, and looked very good for them.

He's class. I pay attention when footballers talk highly if him. Rice said he was one if the best midfielders in the league but more so I remember I think the Aberdeen players were raving about him after a friendly. Might mean nothing but I think its a very good indication of a top player when he is so highly regarded by his fellow pros. For 25 mill its a no brainer and I cant for the life of me understand why only Spurs were in for him. I can only think its because of the allegations against him and Spurs turned a blind eye to it.

I actually don’t agree that he’s be a good fit for a ten Hag team. His passing is not good enough. In the right team you’d benefit from his play breaking but that’s not a ten Hag team. In my opInion of course

Brighton has many players seemly awesome. Similarly, many of Ajax players look wonderful too. It is actually because the managers create the well drilled unit with great style, as I feel.

I think the lad Brighton bought from Ecuador (Moises Caicedo) is one to watch. He seems to have a wider skillset and could turn into a deep lying playmaker with added speed and physicality. I'm personally going to keep an eye on his development and it'll be interesting to see how Potter utilises him. He's also someone that has said that he wants to play for Man Utd.

Bissouma's a good player put limited on the ball.

It’s fecking disgusting that we didn’t even bat an eyelid as Spurs had a free run for him.

Guaranteed we’re quoted close to £100 million for him in 2-3 years’ time.

I think it was a bit of a no brainer for Spurs, you had, before Bentancur came in at Spurs, Winks and Skip to partner Hojbjerg. Skip has had injury troubles and is more one for the future, Spurs should have moved Winks on a few seasons ago, just not a top 4 midfielder and Bissouma is a clear upgrade. And I think that is the crux of it right there, you can say Bissouma is average, or whatever, the question is, "Is he better than Winks?", and the answer to that is a clear "yes".

Spurs midfield is robust with Hojbjerg, Bissouma, Bentancur and Skip, it is just not very creative and having 2 all action DM's in that position is well and good. Until you play that team that just wants to sit 11 players behind the ball and play out a 0-0 draw.

How has he been?

Playing as highly as he was rated by football fans?
