I think it will be one of these 2 personally (with positions potentially changing in game with subs):

Eriksen FDJ

Sancho Bruno Rashford

Martial/new St

OR

Eriksen FDJ

Sancho VDB Rashford

Bruno
I think Eriksen would be part of the front four like.
Fred De jong
Eriksen Bruno Sancho
Martial/Rashford

Depth
Mcsause Garner
Antony* Dvb Elanga
Martial/Rashford

As a Danish fan of United for 35 years, it is fantastic to see a Danish player in United again. The last one was Lindegaard, and it's been a few days since then ;-) I hope there is a definite plan for Eriksen and he is not just in the club because he was a free, good player. I have a hard time seeing where he is going to play for us. Bruno has Eriksen's most natural position. And should Eriksen play further back on the field as CM, then the midfield will be too poor defensively against the bigger teams. Eriksen can play LW or RW, but it is definitely not a favorite position for him, and he is significantly less visible in those positions.

But Eriksen is a win for United. He is deeply professional and he is not a type who creates problems in the squad. He's an amazing person and is the type who tends to be liked by teammates. He has a very high work ethic and is always one of those who has run the most in a game.

If there's one thing I trust ten Hag in is to have a clear idea of how he wants to use his signings and in what set ups. Doesn't strike me as a magpie manager at all.
I'm sure that is the case, it's just not obvious to a simpleton like me what it is right now but we'll find out soon enough. There will obviously be plenty of rotation too but I'm interested what his plan is for the bigger matches especially.

Best part: Danish TV will now choose United for all possible matches.

I don’t know why this feels better than signing Kalvin Phillips for that transfer fee.

Same. Got some basic ideas on how it might work with rotations factored in but it's not crystal clear for me. The variety and versatility of his Ajax team gives me total confidence though.

I think that's what we have been crying out for tbh, letting go of playing two defensive minded players in midfield against the non big teams, which outside the top 6 is quite a few games, especially adding EL and domestic cups.

We defo need to improve the squad depth, I do see eriksen being in the front 4 aswell, bit similar to how ten Hag used tadic at Ajax. Since we won’t be playing much counter attacking football anymore then they’ll be no need for 2 pacey wingers, eriksen and Fernandes being part of the front 4 will help create chances for the striker.

Bossing it in the PL. Bossing it against our rivals? Destroyed Chelsea. Bossing it for Denmark against the best in the world?

Assume that you’ve seen nothing of him
Im glad someone spelt it out.

Making out like this is some Bebe character, rags to riches, rather than a seasoned veteran. This is a seriously high quality signing who assuming we get FDJ will massively improve the quality of the options we have in midfield.

I just can't get past how poor Fred and McTominay are on the ball, to imagine either being 1st choice for a possession based team. The one exception I could see is if Garner proves himself good enough during the pre-season and in training.

Yes but its a Europa league/ fight for top four season so we may go in this way or maybe not we never know.

I will be astonished if we ever see anything like either of those, we would get smashed every week.

You never can tell Garner may just displace Fred, but I don't think Fred is that bad.
Depressing to see Rashford/Martial as our only CF options.
If ETH can get them going, you never know

Bossing it at Brentford. It's a totally different level here and 100 times more pressure.

Yes... you are right...
He only:
  • Died on the pitch a year ago
  • For a decade or so been the only player the Danish international team relied.
  • Played 7 years in Tottenham and regularly Champions League even longer (also for Ajax)
  • Joined Inter as their most expensive player and won the Italian Championship
  • Played Champions League finale with Tottenham in 2019
  • Played just about any club tournament finale that exists
  • Went back to play professional football even though the entire world expected him to quit
  • Not only joined a Premier League side but also instantly.. instantly created an impact . Brentford won his first 5 games
which was more than they had won the entire season leading up to that, and that was with Eriksen assisting from the get go.
  • The entire City of Brentford expected him to carry their asses above relegation all by himself... and he did...

How could this guy, this who has played abroad all across Europe for more than a decade.
Playing in Serie A and Premier League for most of that time.
Who has literally had the entire football worlds eyes on him.. who made the news worldwide and came back from it.

How could he ever.. understand the pressure that comes with playing for the 6th best team in Premier League ;)

Fred is good at a lot of things. He's a great presser and a very good tackler when played higher up the pitch. But he's also very limited in other areas like passing, first touch, defensive positioning and these are all really important things for the style of football ETH likes to play. I think Fred would work really well in Liverpool's midfield for example. I just don't see him suiting ours.

He apparently covered 11.7km against Totenham earlier this season. He used to regularly top the most distance run figures over a season while at Totenham.

He's a great athlete
Excellent. Someone with technical ability and an engine.

Yes. It's just that we generally use the suffix with an 'e' in Denmark, whereas the other Nordic countries generally uses 'o'.
'E' is much more common in Norway than 'o'.
I think it's mainly Sweden and Iceland that use the 'son' most of the time.

Yes but in a midfield with De jong his responsibility to take the ball from the defenders would lessen on him, I think he'll do well as a second receiver in midfield, he does well finding Bruno with passes.

He is only 30. If his health will be the same the next 5 years. Eriksen is a easy on the toes player. So i think and believe he has still many years to deliver.

Same health. He will play and deliver on top level as 35.

Agree with all of this. He is exactly the sort of player we need but it’s not obvious how the team will line up with him in it.

I suppose he will play as the more attacking of two no8s in a 433. That means Bruno on the right of the front three.

Or Eriksen at 10 in a 4231 with Bruno on the right of the “3”, Sancho left and Rashford (or another) at CF.

I think he’ll play a lot of games for us, injury permitting.

There is just nothing to be said negatively about Eriksen that isn't pure speculation

Sure he had a rough start Tottenham, he didn't speak Italian, he just moved, and Conte didn't fit him.. but you know what? he claimed a spot on that team
and won the championsship.

Its also easy to remember his final hours at Tottenham, after they had blocked his move to Real Madrid or was it Barcelona? ..
but maybe try and remember the six years leading up to that where he was the GOAT

I mean has this guy ever done anything to deserve speculations?

6 months ago people thought he had retired.. then he joined a PL side and instantly.. bossed it around..
they went undefeated for 2 months from his first game.

Now it seems that Eriksen is a United player and therefore this interview with him is even more relevant for United fans now. The interview is with English subtitles and the first interview with Eriksen after his accident last year. You get a really good picture of who Eriksen is as a person. He is very open in the interview. It is highly recommended:

Oh I get it, when patriotism and pedantry collide!
I'm not Danish!
Or you meant patriotism to United, right? ;)

You'd expect supporters to be able to spell the names of their team's players..... right?

Amazing signing without a shadow of doubt. Where will him and Bruno fit in the side I wonder?
