The way right wingers in America took to arguing that a billionaire taking over Twitter would be "good for free speech" just because they thought he'd let them be racist online would be embarrassing for them if they had enough self-awareness.

Hasn't this all actually been really rather damaging for him?
I'd say so. Liberals see him as a potential threat when it comes to social media. Conservatives are (apparently) annoyed that Daddy won't give them their bottle. Even his fanboys are embarrassed after spending weeks defending him.

Agree. Now that he’s gone full on Gop supporter and Tesla buyers are not, I can’t see how this works well out for him. Sure, he’ll still be rich but he needs to fcuk off.
He will implode over time, or else be forced to moderate when when confronted by a potential loss of business revenue imo.

Constantly at the STD clinic.
I'm confused. I thought musk had signed the agreement and was stuck in this deal?

Shame really. I was hoping he'd pay well over fair price for Twitter. It would have been such a disaster.

I reckon someone would have just started an alternative normal Twitter and he'd be left with crap in his hands.

I really expect the same. Tesla are in deep shit right now.
Yeah. A lot depends on Bitcoin that is going to be the easiest way to get him out or his impenetrable armour.

I think he bought it at £30k so already huge losses considering he bought $billions worth. If that stays in this range or drops more, won’t be good. But money talks if it skyrockets to £100k not much shareholders can do or say or but clap and praise him.

If he was born in the US I'd say he's inevitably going to be president at some point.

You’d be surprised how many conservative Americans still think (possibly thought now that he’s let them down) that he’s gonna be president one day.

We'll have to see what SCOTUS has to say about that when the time comes.

He probably realised he was paying too much for it given all the changes in macro.

Expect a court case if Twitter want to keep him buying it at that price. He’s obviously using the bot issue to say the deal isn’t what he originally thought.

Might be off topic but why exactly is that? If anything, this is good for Tesla due to the funding.

It's taken him this long to realise something people were saying from the start?

It wasn’t the greatest move but it is normal to bid just above the share price and get a deal done quickly. It just happened that the stock market crashed straight after, rates increased which hurts this type of business, and recession has become more likely.

He’s so rich he probably didn’t give it any thought - Tesla price was also higher - but he has probably had to listen to others and banks that were going to fund the deal but don’t want to pay that amount.

All a mess really. Also he still owns 10% of Twitter which is interesting.

No idea how Delaware law works but I really doubt Twitter wants to drag this out for years. I reckon Musk will eventually pay a fine settlement and that'll be it.
